  3. FWIW, as long as the line twists arent to extreme and arent going up the entire line set, then its alright, having them every jump i would say inst normal, i would take a look at the packing if your doing it yourself or your body position upon deployment. this jump being your first it was probably your body position, as you brought your right arm down and your left arm up you probably started into a right hand turn causing line twists. i would say as long as you can kick your way out of them before your hard deck then you will be fine. and again if i siad something wrong im sure one of the more senior jumpers would be happy to correct me. Thinking about the orientation of the flag... When walking around on the ground, the orientation is incorrect, and that's how most people are going to see it. But when belly-to-earth in freefall, it'll be traditionally correct, for freefall video and photos. That's cool. When sit-flying or feet-to-earth, it'll look like it's blowing properly according to the relative wind. But if you do head-down, it'll be all screwed up, looking as if it's blowing backwards into the wind. But I like it! lol thanks, i tried having them make a rotating flag but they just couldnt so i went with the next best thing, in line with the rig. i figured it would look best in all but 1 position, i just can't go head down with it :P. and most of the time i have it lying on the ground getting ready to pack, so people will see it there. Bam, defending my choices, i love America!!! JewBag. www.jewbag.wordpress.com

  9. It was designed because of a glitch in the skydiver genetic blueprint...a problem that's being sorted out the most cost effective way possible. We're thinning the herd of skydivers with 'tiny' hands & skinny 'fingers'... ~if ya get my drift! and PVC pipe is cheap, even free if ya know where to steal it :P. JewBag. www.jewbag.wordpress.com
  10. i'm crash, mercedes, and some other's referring to the same event. also JewBag, non-relevant skydiving circle fun nickname JewBag. www.jewbag.wordpress.com

  12. I disagree. After a few dozen jumps, you should be able to eyeball your landing pattern and turn to final without any reference to an altimeter. Landing on target is all about sight picture, not "such and such an altitude at such and such a point." I've got several hundred low jumps without an altimeter, no problem. Andy F. of the Red Bull skydiving team told me he doesn't check his alti before a swoop, just eyeballs it and hucks a 720. At the very least, you leave a much smaller divot for not knowing your altitude under canopy than in freefall. Elsinore is perhaps the easiest DZ in the state (world?) for knowing when to pull in time if you don't use your altimeter. The ridge line is 1-2 miles west, and at an ideal height. i definately agree with that statement, but either way if you lose your alti and you know you have been falling for 45 sec to a minute, its ok to pull a little high, i agree with being able to eye ball your approach but i just never focused on that prior to hence my oppinion on it, and since then i have been paying more and more attention to the fact. 14. Hopefully that day never comes. I start getting worried around 5k visually so I think I would be alright... by the time 3k comes the ground is moving quite fast. FWIW not having an altimeter during the free fall isnt as bad as not having it under canopy, you can normally feel approx. what altitude you are at in free fall, and then there are always landmarks around the DZ, mountains, hills, weather balloons, stuff like that ('snore anyways). but trying to figure out when to enter the landing pattern, and when to make the correct turns in the pattern to keep you and everyone else safe around you is where it gets difficult, for me anyways. but when you land where you want to land without a alti its definately a confidence booster. since that day i try not to rely on my alti as much, just kind of check it to gage my eyes. so far so good. 25. 1 thing that i see that is unsafe is that you are very structured, what happens if you can't make that left hand turn, what is your out-option? what if you can't see that 1 canopy at 1500'? what if you are dealing with an emergency and you can't land downwind? everything in skydiving is a "what-if" and you can't plan for it all, a lot of times you need to be able to think on your feet and to do that you need to have experience, experience comes from doing something a lot without jumping ahead to other aspects of it. by no means am i experienced at 130 jumps, but i do know enough to kill myself, and i do know enough to keep myself alive. i think you will eventually be alright in skydiving, and eventually a very safe skydiver, but from your original statement which is the important one because that is what you were thinking at the time and that is the message you wanted to convey to the masses, i don't want to be around you in the air. just keep that in mind. and welcome to DZ.com, you asked and we told. stay safe and Blue Skies.
