Picking up your deployed canopy
trigger replied to CrazyIvan's topic in General Skydiving Discussions

Dude,I know where your coming from.As an biker turned skydiver i know what a high side is,and that kinda body armour will protect you at 100+mph,providing you don't hit an immovable mass i.eA brick wall, lamp post, parked car ect.and as i consider the planet to be a extremely big immovable mass.in IMHO i don't think motorcycle body armour would protect you if you "CHOWED"bigtime from a screwed up hook, carve or any other other badly initiated low turn. However i don't think the idea of body armour is necessaryly a bad one if only some/most/preferably all of the problems DARKVAPOR lists could be overcome. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.

Canopy Flying2 rating,Any thoughts?

I stand corrected.you're right it is IC1 and the possibility of introducing a IC2 rating that i was ranting about.Too much booze me thinks! -
Canopy Flying2 rating,Any thoughts?
trigger replied to trigger's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Hi,here in the sunny UK,we have a rating which is required for 'B'license after 50jumps,it's called CF1 and in short is a series of briefings on jumpmaster responsibilities, spotting+basic canopy control and practical exercises,5xpre-declared landings in the peas and spotting from 10k.[Unfornately,with the increase in incidents with fellow jumpers injuring or[in the extreme]killing themselves due to low turns there has been some speculation/talk of introducing a CF2 rating.[Although,i believe most injuries/deaths are the product of unintentional low turns i.e getting into wind too late, does anyone have any ideas as to what could be required of such a rating and will it have any affect in reducing said unintentional occurrences -
It's been said before.DEMO..I'd suggest trying something like a Sabre2 150.. first. you'll be suprised after a 170+ you don't need the aggro going from square to elliptical as well as downsizing..Alternately try and demo a similar size elliptical to your present canopy.. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.

So what i heard is all true then! .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER. -
I wouldn't use the word legitamate or even targets regarding journalists in the same way you wouldn't clasify civilians as legitamate targets .However, regarding warzones.Warzones are [can't stress this enough]very dangerous places inwhich to be conducting your buisness. And i believe the men and women who cover such events must accept and be aware of the risks that come with it.When it comes down to it ,my sympathys lie with the civilians who have little or no choice when they tragically get caught up in such situations. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.

Unfortunately you're right, such a beast as DZ politics does exist.I've witnessed it on many occasions,in the extreme even resulting in fisty cuffs.Fortunately for me i always wit ness these events as an outsider looking in and on the whole the reception i recieve when visiting different DZ's is entirely positive, though sometimes the kicking down of a few barriers is required on my part which i fully accept as i know when i'm rocking up to strange[new] DZ i'm an unknown quantity and can initially be viewed with a certain amount of sceptism/scuntiny regarding maybe[i assume]my ability/personality.Any it's all good. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.

In a nutshell,NO!General rule of thumb a container built for 'say' a 170ft2 main will accept either a size up[190ft2] or a size down[150ft2]just remember to adjust the closure loop to suit sir. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.

and widens the lines so that the canopy flies better. Not true, this is done by collapsing the slider and loosening the chest strap. .CHOP WOOD COLLECT WATER.
