  1. I'm gonna have have my head removed and sent to New Guinea to one of those head hunter tribes where it will be shrunk down and made into a necklace so that BZ can wear it around his neck forever. Oh yeah, much better picture. John Wright World's most beloved skydiver
  2. Not completely sure about that one, but I know that the Sigma is a much more secure fitting rig than the Vector and it puts the student in a more manageable position. I am not familiar enough with the Strong system to make an informed comparison about side spins. I do know that the Sigma is my absolute favorite way to do tandems. You can read my review of it in the gear section of this site. John Wright World's most beloved skydiver
  3. Is this your plan for drogue-up and drogue-down spins, or have you simplified your explanation for folks not familiar with tandem procedures? Mark Yes, I simplified it. If it were drouge down, chucking the drouge could create a whole new set of problems. I would deploy my reserve in that instance. John John Wright World's most beloved skydiver
  4. A side spin is just what it says, spinning on your side. It's a very scary thing. The best way to fix it is to get long, I mean extend your arms and legs straight out. You should try and capture your students legs as well and straighten them along with yours. Arching harder wont fix this one, as a matter of fact, it will probably increase the spin rate. If you can't stop the spin then you have no choice but to throw the drouge and hope for the best. John Wright World's most beloved skydiver
  5. Side spins have nothing to do with what type of gear you're jumping. They occur before drouge deployment. Sometimes the cause is hard to determine but it's usually due to the student with there legs way out in front or improperly tightend laterals (side straps) Quote John Wright World's most beloved skydiver

  7. If you did a line check when you packed (as you should do every time) there is no possible way for this to happen. It sounds to me like you don't know what you're looking at and should get further instruction (if you recieved any before) from someone that knows how a canopy is built and packed. You scare me! 8. There are alot of good freeflyers out there but I believe that Jack Melnick from Gainesville Fl is the best there is. John Wright World's most beloved skydiver
  9. You said you had a problem with video people, if it was only David that you had a problem with then you should say video person. As for David getting kicked off the DZ, it was really more of him deciding that you can't make a living doing tandems and video and moving forward with his life, I say good for him. It's true, Billy wont be here this year, he's helping out with jump for the Cause out in Perris. There were alot of off field landings last year but, in all fairness, the wind was blowing about 80 miles an hour at altitude and about 15 to 25 on the ground. Look forward to seeing you, think positive. John Wright World's most beloved skydiver
  10. Don't give me that "go to work" crap, you're in the Coast Guard. The plan is to fly the Casa on Thursday. John Wright World's most beloved skydiver
  11. Another shameless plug for the Hog Flop boogie in Palatka. The Casa is going to arrive on Thursday the 17th in the afternoon. We'll be jumping hard and partying all weekend. We are 1 hr south of Jacksonville on a huge airport that we have practically all to ourselves. Now I don't want to sound judgmental but, only a real moron would miss this on purpose. Come on out. 800-243-6481 John Wright World's most beloved skydiver www.skydivepalatka.com
  12. There are also a bunch of folks who jump just for fun John Wright World's most beloved skydiver
  13. Alot of good freeflying going on too John Wright World's most beloved skydiver
  14. I'm thinking I'm gonna ge one of the Power Puff girls along with Zach. As for camping in Elitistburg, everyone is welcome, just no canned beer. John Wright World's most beloved skydiver

  16. Skydive Palatka will be holding it"s annual Hog Flop Oct 18th thru the 20th. This is always a great time. Big Dave will be barbecuing on Fri and Sat, free beer, hot women, especially handsome men, and of course, the Hog flop Competition. Come jump the Casa and King Air with us. Lots of room for camping and town and motels are only 5 mins away. John Wright World's most beloved skydiver
  17. You have to have 500 jumps on a ram air canopy. John Wright World's most beloved skydiver
  18. I suppose you could probably get a "letter of proficiency" from someone at the FAA. I don't know how hard that would be, but I bet it's pretty tough to get an official to come watch you jump. Even if you did get this "letter of Proficiency", good luck getting demo insurance, which is a must have item. Demo jumps into stadiums are fun but, they're not just another skydive. You're probably better off finding pro rated people to do it till you're qualified. John Wright John Wright World's most beloved skydiver

I know just how you feel. I am a hands model and aside from soaking in Palmolive all day I do almost nothing. I'm lucky to have skydiving to keep my life interesting. Good luck on your jumping. John Wright World's most beloved skydiver
  20. It doesn't matter if he is an instructor or not, It's not good business to date the customers. People, women in particular, don't generally go to the DZ to be hit on. There is nothing quite so pitiful as someone on the DZ staff using the student population as his own personal dating pool. If you want to date a staff member, wait till you're no longer a student. 21. The FAA letter of acceptance is only the first step. What still has to happen is that the manufacturers have to turn over the training on their specific rig to USPA, this hasn't happened yet. Don't think that because you hold a USPA tandem instructor rating that you don't have to renew your manufacturers rating, that's still down the road a little ways. John Wright
  22. Drugs aren't a problem at our DZ. Our problem is that the inside of Slice's van keeps catching fire every Sat and Sun after the last load. Luckily there are usually 5 or 6 people in there to help him put it out.
  23. I've got one word for you Perry..."Spellcheck". Where have you been? John Wright
  24. Focus! I hear good things about Yoshi, I was gonna fly reserve side for him a few weeks back, got to altitude but the weather turned bad. Good luck in your progression an listen to what your told.
  25. Pretty funny but I don't think the poor chinese impression adds anything
