9%? I'm in the process of preapproval myself. 80% 5/1 ARM @ 4.625, 15% HELOC at prime+2. Course, I didn't get the house I wanted so i'm still looking and will probably end up reapplying when the lock expires.

Had he been pulled over in the United States, the local authority would have had the legal right to seize that money and keep it. No paperwork, no questions, no due process. We'll take that money, go on about your business. Our budget thanks you. How many of you knew that? Edit: On second thought, I don't know if bonds, stock, and securities fall under that statute- but anything over $10,000 USD cash is definitely 'open season.' Think twice before you accept or make a large cash purchase (i.e. car, boat, multiple rigs, etc.)_

If they throw in my video rental history I'll be totally 'screwed.'

It has finally arrived. This is the perfect excuse that I have been looking for to get back into flying myself on my job. http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20030228/ap_on_go_ca_st_pe/airport_security_13 Announcing the arrival of 'Badcredit Airlines.' Government given you a red flag? Got a strange bank draft on you account record? No problem! All flight applications accepted! Of course, this would probably be backwards. If you have a great credit history and a healthy account record you won't fly since real Americans have bankruptcy, past due accounts, and repossessions. 'You're too responsible- step over to the screeners please.'

I sense a restraining order in your future. Stalking, anyone?

Not yet, but I've had a few occassions where I twisted up and was reaching for the red (or yellow on my rig). I paused just for a second and rechecked- it wasn't diving or spinning so I delt with it. I didn't panic, which is probably most important.

Bumped for those who missed this totally awesome clip.

So, if I fly out to CA the previous weekend is there enough in the area to keep me occupied for a few days? I usually steer clear of the tourist-type stuff.

Ah- winter temps (OK- Atlanta winter temps probably in the 50s) with a car cover.

Hey, my trunk is clean!

Yeah, I'm insured for theft. Damn- this started out as a quick joke thread, but ya went and got me all worried. I stopped on the way to the airport for some fun and didn't know what to expect at customs (too cold up here to jump anyway).
-
Oh my god! NOOOOOOO! What was I thinking! The car's insured, but how do you replace a piece of your soul? AAAGH!

I know- I didn't even poke any air holes!

It's been 10 days since I've seen her and I can't stand it any more! My hotel room feels so empty without here here and I can't reach over for a comforting touch and a quick squeeze. I won't see her until Friday night and It's killing me- we're hardly ever apart. I can't even call her because there isn't a phone in the trunk of the car where I left her, secure in her carry-on case. Please, someone help!

What did you do for your 100th jump?
dbattman replied to Milney's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Old skydiving tradition dictates that multiples of 100 should be done while enjoying the feeling of cool air against your bare skin. -
Is this the only thing going on at Perris that weekend or is there another boogie?

So just out of curiosity Bill, what did your 1KW solar generator cost you? How many Joules of storage do you have setup?

Just got this in my email box- edited out the irrelevant bits Russell is coming along he is responding more and more each day, he is still on a Vent, but they are hoping to wean him off in the next few days. He is running a fever so until they get that under control, he stays on the vent. They have allowed Donna to be there when they wake him up. He shook his head yes when his brother told him he was in a landing accident, and seems to be aware (as aware as he can be all doped up) of what is going on. They were cracking jokes about him farting and he was smiling. He still fights the Vent, he tries to bite it out, because they have his hands tied down, so they are not allowing him to be awake long. There is a big poster down in the waiting room that everyone is signing so far some 55 people have signed it, Russell probably didn't know he was so popular. The family seems to be doing OK, they felt better after they were allowed to talk with him. I will send more news when I get it. As always be safe.

Agh! Put it on Ebay or some gun collectors web sites first with a high reserve. Then you'd get a better idea of the market value.

HMA lines- history of snapping without warning?
dbattman replied to dbattman's topic in Gear and Rigging
Thanks Saut. Good info is coming out in this thread. Just how visible is the wear on the HMA lines? Is the wear more internal or external? Under the high tension load of flaring, would a burr on the guide rings be enough to snap the line? Here's another thought- if the external portion of the lower control lines were sprayed with a dye or something similar, would the wear become more visible? Yes, it is the jumpers responsibility to check their gear and maintain it, but there's plenty of people out there that aren't exactly 'vigilant.' If the HMA line wear is considerably less visible, I could see this becoming a serious issue if it became a more widespread material.
