Sophist \Soph"ist\, n. [F. sophiste, L. sophistes, fr. Gr. ?. See Sophism.] 1. One of a class of men who taught eloquence, philosophy, and politics in ancient Greece; especially, one of those who, by their fallacious but plausible reasoning, puzzled inquirers after truth, weakened the faith of the people, and drew upon themselves general hatred and contempt. Many of the Sophists doubdtless card not for truth or morality, and merely professed to teach how to make the worse appear the better reason; but there scems no reason to hold that they were a special class, teaching special opinions; even Socrates and Plato were sometimes styled Sophists. --Liddell & Scott. 2. Hence, an impostor in argument; a captious or fallacious reasoner.

Sometimes when I have been sick I noticed that getting out of the house out of the stale air an outdoors was really good for me. Force yourself to be productive and maybe even sweat a little bit... Or... Drink a couple hot totties and pass out cold... Get better soon!

I love everything anout being an instructor. *I am a Tandem-I and an AFF-I *Not only do I love the jumps but I love teaching first jump courses. *Being a part of a persons first jump or beggining of their progression in this sport is friggen awesome. I feed off their energy and it feeds my ego at the same time. Every skydive is interesting and fresh. I love to entertain and teach. *Helps me pay my way through the sport *Helps increase my jump #'s quickly *It is a challenge to be a good instructor. I have always preferred to give than recieve. *Being an Instructor makes me a better jumper. *I need to be busy 100% of the day. There are always skydivers on the DZ needing coaching, instruction, attention, whatever. Being an I keeps me busy... Skydiving and skydiving instruction has been so far in my life the most rewarding thing ever.

I never finished college. I finished about two years before I was unable to continue and took time off to work and well it's something I have thinking about a lot lately. Going back to school anyway. I do have a very good job right now, but I don't feel complete without a degree. It has been almost 7 years since I was in school. Been working hard since then. Just curious, what's the deal with everyone else?

How many people have seen Bill Booth's mug before a skydive? I'd be willing to bet he is one of the more famous skydivers known by face anyway to the general public...

I think someone may be trying to take Clay's sheep... Just a thought. My not really computer literate mind would guess that some hacker or some computer is hacking into our web site... [readies pitchfork] We have not had a good old fashioned lynching here in a while [/readies pitchfork]

AFF instructor course prepping with partner?
Sebazz1 replied to Jessica's topic in Safety and Training
I totally practiced with my partner. We also spent hours and hours preparing materials together, talking, planning, etc... We had the help of two AFF evaluators as well that where familiar with the course director that put on our course We where very prepared as a team. -
Any time I can nickel and dime a newbie out of money I do. I mean look how much time and money I have invested in this sport. I should get some of that investment back! So every time I do a coach jump or sign an A license proficiency card I stick it to em... Yeah I deserve it dammit, after all I am one of the greatest skydivers ever. I have like a D license and all.

I remember packing for Lisa at our little Paso reunion boogie with no strings attached. No boobies, money, or sexual favors. Just because she's the bomb! In fact if Dave doesn't beat me to it and other regular packers are too busy I'll help pack your rig up even though it's so damn huge... By the way I have had two tandem cutaways. One where I blew out the main and the only reason the student was a little nervous was because he could feel my heart beating rapidly on his back, and another that was pretty much a spinning line twist kinda mal. Student was cool with it...
