  1. Oh okay, then I basically know nothing about that specific topic... But I will add that prices and wages always seem to be very low in most Communist countries. yeah that has a lot to do with it, its a nice long 30 page paper detailing it. I now know a massive amount about it, thanks school! Its an interesting situation in China though, they pushed their industrialization funding onto the rural areas instead of the more common urban areas, so instead of urban slums (like in Brazil) china has a rural poverty problem. China only has something like .5% poverty in their urban areas.
  2. take out the whole schpeel about China...good idea. thank you :)
  3. unfortunately I have a feeling she's going to go home next....but I hope I'm wrong. That David A. has too many young fans that love him. UGH. He's such a weiney. Apparently Jason has the fans too, I hope he steps it up and brings back his performances from a few weeks ago. edit: that still doesn't put him on par with David C. and Seysha...I agree they should be the top 2, but I don't see that happening. It will probably be a battle of the Davids.
  4. Thesis: The institutions of the 1950s and the reforms of the 1970s and how they led rural China into the poverty situation they face today.
  5. whole paragraph: Although these communes were more democratic in a sense given that they could elect team heads, the leaders in Beijing were unwilling to give any leeway in figuring out the details of the commune, like what type of crops were to be grown. The orders that came from above often ignored the local conditions. This was done in order to ensure the predictability of foodstuffs for the urban community; however it did not always function well for the peasants. Often their conditions worsened in order to produce what the government wanted for the urban areas. The national leaders kept the country in a top-down type of government; they believed the villagers could not lead themselves and China to higher places. (WC) In the long run, the government in Beijing led the peasants into more dire situations concerning their well being.
  6. I know thats right......
  7. So I'm wrapping up my honors thesis, and I'm stuck on one edit point....someone give me a better way to say "higher places" in the following sentence...PLEASE. The national leaders kept the country in a top-down type of government; they believed the villagers could not lead themselves and China to higher places. I'm burned out, my brain can't figure it out anymore. THANK YOU

    Gas Strike

People still believe this gimmick works? Wow.
  9. My Recap... Jason: I agree with him being a "one trick pony" persay, however, I love what he does. I love his voice, but I believe there are others that are, uh, more qualified to be the American Idol. He's kinda given up...he was on fire and then the past 2 weeks he's just good, not really putting any effort into it. He's definitely my favorite, but at this point he needs to go home. I think Paula's flub will keep him around another week. (Edit: I'm really into acoustic melodic jam rock, so its obvious why I like his style) David C: First song was ok, kinda forgetable. Totally redeemed himself with the second song, I loved it. I really hope he wins this thing. And I agree, his hair is getting more tolerable. David A: Ugh, God. I hate what he did to my song. Hate it. I don't get him AT ALL. He's so....theme parkish. Coming to America? Are you joking? The kid has a great voice, and thats it. The rest of him is lacking. I don't get why the judges are all up on his shit. He totally pulled a Kristy Lee Cook with that 2nd song choice. Brooke: Someone put her out of her misery. 1st song was SO CHEESY and terrible. I mean, she's got talent, but she needs to go already. 2nd song was alright, but something about her voice bothers me. Syesha: I don't think she's forgettable anymore, she finally started bringing her game. The first song was ok, she brought it with the 2nd song. She's totally going on broadway. Bottom Two obviously Brooke and Jason, I hope Brooke goes home because I wouldn't mind hearing Jason sing one more time :) Final 3 - David, David, Syesha.
  10. So I didn't get to watch last night, but I'm watching on Youtube now....and I'm really pissed that they let weiney boy sing Sweet Caroline and butcher my song like that
  11. my bro and I are always trying to get my dad to do a tandem, I don't think it will ever happen. I'm hoping to get him in the tunnel soon, so he can at least share something with us in regards to our passion
  12. I disagree, Selysha nailed the performance. She belongs on broadway for sure. And even though the judges poopooed Emoboy, I loved his version of The Music of the Night...brought back some memories and actually made me cry (sucker).
  13. Because the American Public in general are Idiots. The Fact that David A is so popular and Brooke is still on the show just shows how mindless the Average American Viewer of American Idol truly is. Carly was GREAT on Tuesday night. Perhaps her best performance ever and absolutely one of the best of the night and she gets voted off?? A Crime. Brooke and Jason should have been bottom two. I don’t see how anyone can watch the performances and not agree. Carly was finally starting to be herself, Relaxing and having fun. She also Looked GREAT last night. I am most likely not going to watch the show anymore. There is no one left that interests me at all. David C is pretty good but not someone that I am going to go out of my way to see. The rest of the ones left just flat out annoy me. You said yourself that Jason had the 16 y/o vote nailed....
  14. Underwood won!! On the topic of Brooke....there's that votefortheworst.com or some website, I wonder if that has anything to do with it. I thought everyone did alight for what they had to work with and it really pegged who the talent is in the show. I still hate David A. though, he's a weiney. It's not broadway idol though, so those who didn't shine, I don't think it should be 100% counted against them. I was a bit surprised by Carly, I thought she nailed it, but she didn't have the fan base that the others do.
  15. Andrew Lloyd Webber next week? Wow. I'm pretty excited and curious to see what people do with it :) I can't say I'm surpised Kristy was sent home, she's good, but she was constantly in the bottom, although she was improving, she just didn't have the support. I predict that Smiley will hit the ball out of the park next week....
  16. thank you :) the cuteness makes up for the grossness!
  17. I just busted out laughing at the "free fly" its always the stupid ones that get me
  18. nothing like stepping in fresh cat puke! I can't let my cats outside because of my allergies...and the band of wild cats that hangs out in our yard I wish I had the luxury of outside hairballs...I've uploaded a picture of my furball for your enjoyment.
  19. let me guess...long haired cat? We have one that leaves hair logs around. Can't even call them balls. Tis the season for puking...I hate this part of spring
  20. you will, it took me a long time but I love watching other people jump now :)
  21. Oh man, we did the Wild Cave tour at Mammoth Caves and it weirded me out big time. We were belly crawling through this football field length hole and in the middle of it I started panicking. Its amazing how much freezing and closing your eyes can calm you down in that sort of situation
  22. yes its getting annoying....
  23. PS - I'm so happy that you all watch this show so that when my BF makes fun of me I can say "but other skydivers watch it!"
  24. Thanks to Youtube I was able to watch the performances at work yay Jason Castro - He's got my vote locked in too. I LOVE his voice, I LOVE what he does to a song. Can't deny that he's nice on the eyes too. I agree he looked a tad weird on the stool, very fidgety, I think he doesn't know what to do without his guitar. Smiley Lip Licker Boy: Ugh. Seriously. I can't stand this kid. Yeah yeah yeah, he can sing, but seriously? Boring. He's not going anywhere though. David Cook Captain Emo: I'm not normally a fan of his but I got it tonight. Wow. I loved it. I agree, best in show. I loved what he did, he didn't have much to work with, but it happened and it was awesome. Forgettable Black Chick - Vanishing. Appropriate song. I mean, she did a great job with the song, but very unoriginal. Kristy Lee Cook: I thought she did a good job, definitely the best of the girls, but thats not saying much, look at the other 3. Tattooed Irish Lass: She looked great tonight, but the performance was pretty good...I really like her voice, but I'm not sure this is the right venue for her. I thought she did a good job though, better than people are saying. Brooke: I think she did better than people are saying, but it wasn't OOOOH GREAT. I thought it was better than past perfornaces from her...but actually now that I'm getting to the end this is kinda bad. Oh yeah bottom three: Brooke, Seyesha, Carly. Brooke should go.
