  1. Been there, done that, bought the T-shirt. Except mine was recovered. It fell directly in front of someone under canopy. He followed it to the ground and picked it up for me. I was already pricing new ones in the display when in he walks asking me if I lost anything. -Jeff. http://www.iplummet.com Common sense and common courtesy are NOT common.

So, my question is why is Johnny Cash walking into a small town and immediately start cutting down the place ?? -Jeff. http://www.iplummet.com Common sense and common courtesy are NOT common.
  4. Just make sure you return her safe and sound !! We need her here. In addition to all of her many attributes, she really classes up the joint. -Jeff. http://www.iplummet.com Common sense and common courtesy are NOT common.
  5. Subject: Sad Announcement Today we mourn the passing of an old friend, Common Sense. Common Sense lived a long life, but died in the United States from heart failure on the brink of the new millennium. No one really knows how old he was, since his birth records were lost long ago in bureaucratic red tape. He selflessly devoted his life to service in schools, hospitals, homes, and factories, helping folks get jobs done without fanfare and foolishness. For decades, petty rules, silly laws, and frivolous lawsuits held no power over Common Sense. He was credited with cultivating such valued lessons as to know when to come in out of the rain, why the early bird gets the worm, and that life isn't always fair. Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more than you earn), reliable parenting strategies (the adults are in charge, not the kids), and it's okay to come in second. A veteran of the Industrial Revolution, the Great Depression, and the Technological Revolution, Common Sense survived cultural and educational trends including body piercing, Whole language, and "new math." But his health declined when he became infected with the "If-it-only-helps-one-person-it's-worth-it" virus. In recent decades his waning strength proved no match for the ravages of well intentioned but overbearing regulations. He watched in pain as good people became ruled by self-seeking lawyers. His health rapidly deteriorated when schools endlessly implemented zero tolerance policies. Reports of a six-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate, a teen suspended for taking a swig of mouthwash after lunch, and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student only worsened his condition. It declined even further when schools had to get parental consent to administer aspirin to a student but could not inform the parent when a female student was pregnant or wanted an abortion. Common Sense lost his will to live as the Ten Commandments became contraband, churches became businesses, criminals received better treatment than victims, and federal judges stuck their noses in everything from the Boy Scouts to professional sports. When a woman, too stupid to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot, was awarded a huge settlement, Common Sense threw in the towel. As the end neared, Common Sense drifted in and out of logic but was kept informed of developments regarding questionable regulations such as those for low flow toilets, rocking chairs, stepladders and auto emissions. Common Sense finally succumbed when, while the United States was fighting a war on terrorism, a federal judge declared the Pledge of Allegiance to be unconstitutional. Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust; his wife, Discretion; his daughter, Responsibility; and his son, Reason. He is survived by two stepbrothers: My Rights, and Ima Whiner. Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone. 7. A guy goes into the doctor looking for a prescription for Viagra. The guy insists that he only needs 3 tablets. The doctor asks him why only 3? "I have a big weekend coming up doc. Friday, my girlfriend is coming over. Saturday, my ex-wife and I are going out. Sunday, my wife comes home from her trip." The doctor says, "Well, there hasn't been alot of research done, but they don't recommend that you take Viagra 3 days in a row. They don't know what the ramifications are." The guy is very insistent and the doctor relents, on one condition: " You have to promise to come in on Monday and let me see that you are OK." That's fine with the guy and he goes off for his wild weekend with his prescription for the wonder drug. Monday morning rolls around and true to his word, the guy shows up at the doctor's office. But, his arm is in a sling! The doctor asked, "What in the world happened to you?" The guy answered, "None of them showed up." -Jeff. http://www.iplummet.com Common sense and common courtesy are NOT common.

  10. OK, the Rantoul Best Western is booked for the convention. Any other recommendations for an inexpensive, clean place? Don't need a party just a nice quiet hotel room for a couple of nights. Thanks. -Jeff. http://www.iplummet.com Common sense and common courtesy are NOT common.

    NTSB

The National Transportation Safety Board recently divulged they had covertly funded a project with the US auto makers for the past five years, whereby the auto makers were installing "black boxes" in four-wheel drive pickup trucks in an effort to determine, in fatal accidents, the circumstances in the last 15 seconds before the crash. They were surprised to find that the last words of drivers in 61.2 percent of fatal crashes were, "Oh, Shit!" Only with skydivers was it different, where over 89.3 percent of the final words were: "Hold my beer and watch this." -Jeff. http://www.iplummet.com Common sense and common courtesy are NOT common.
  13. Agreed! My (skydiving) son just did the basic thing last fall. He had a blast. Really a question of mind over matter. Flip that same switch in your head that allows you to jump out of an airplane and use it to block out the BS that you have to deal with. I hope you like to run ! -Jeff. http://www.iplummet.com Common sense and common courtesy are NOT common.

  16. In a previous post, I was looking for a hotel near the convention. Best Western was suggested as a good choice. Does anybody have the address? I want to make reservations. Yeeeeeeeeeeeeee haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa !! -Jeff. http://www.iplummet.com Common sense and common courtesy are NOT common.

  18. Why do they call it a "landing gear" ?? Isn't it used for take-offs, too ?? -Jeff. http://www.iplummet.com Common sense and common courtesy are NOT common.
  19. I take it one step further. I e-mail the file to my work office. In addition to the safety in redundency factor, it is there when ..... er, I mean if I ever need to look at it. -Jeff. http://www.iplummet.com Common sense and common courtesy are NOT common.

  24. My parents hunted down and found a copy of MAD Magazine from October 1966. This has Alfred E. Newman on the cover, skydiving. They had the cover matted and framed with the rest of the magazine inside the frame. (http://members.tripod.com/~Plummet/madmag.html) This is so friggin' cool that my parents support me in this. Of course, it doesn't hurt that dad made a couple of static lines and all of my brothers have jumped. -Jeff. http://www.iplummet.com Common sense and common courtesy are NOT common.
