You know they're opening KK's in England now? Pffft England, I don't go there, its the crime capital of the world don't you know, but if they started off a franchise in Scotland...hmmm...... -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Congrats on the job man, I think you've been looking for a break like this for at least a year. And thats way too long to put up with a job you don't like... BTW, did you know that the jeep wrangler is a huge gay icon thing here in the UK? -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Why yes, when I was a kid playing with my Lego and meccano, I wanted 'to build big things' and thats what I do for a living now. But that doesn't mean to say that I have grown up yet! -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Wow, you live in Germany but your home DZ is in Rotorua......Possibly the smelliest town in the world, but that is one hell of a drive to the DZ.... Try a search of the forums, this has been talked about at great length, plus all the precautions involved. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. "a dozen a week still wouldn't hurt them one bit." It wouldn't hurt them much, but I'd probably have to retire my weight vest, and order a new jump suit -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. "In your opinion, what AUDIBLE would you guys recommend?, just curious. " Okay..... Loadsa money, get a Pro track with the electronic logbook, pc interface etc. lota money, get a pro track, it will record all sorts of useful stuff, but it won't actually improve your skydiving (if you were to spend the difference on coaching for example). got money, buy a pro dytter got money but would rather spend it on jump tix, get a timeout. got no money but desparately need an audible, get a second hand pingly peep box. I've had Timeouts, the old ones, the not so old ones, and a recent model (prototype), they ALL work fine. I use a pro track, and a pro dytter regulalry (on my camera helmet), and have the time out for other stuff (its really small, so it fits my other helmets and can be swapped out easily). I've never even seen a skytronic up close, so I know nothing about them. In terms of customer support, I hear LnB are awsome, but then again, so are CoolnGroovy, I have never had any problems with either makers' devices, so can't honestly comment. Other than CnG are currently owned by a Scottish friend, so I would buy from them again......And George (previous owner of CnG) was also a friend. I rely heavily on my audibles, its a throwback / bad habit from my camera jumping days, I seldom if ever look at my alti before break off. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. "If somehow the trains where to stop, the whole country would be on it's ass :) " Thats the whole point of guerilla type warfare, maximum disruption for minimum effort. It doesn't take a very big bomb to cripple signalling, or points on a railway system. Even the threat of a bomb at say Amsterdam Centraal would require a massive evacuation, and sunbsequent disruption. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. War, what is it good for? Ummm... Distracting the voting public. Removal of basic human rights from innocent civilians / non combatants. Limitations on free speach. Closing down DZs and limiting air traffic movements. Maintenance of artificially high oil prices, especially as the Venezuelan brothers are about to go on strike..... (which is good for me, but bad for the rest of the world) And its really, really good for long delays during check ins at airports. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. "Anyone have the figures for how much a cubic foot of helium can lift under normal conditions MSL?" Umm dunno 'bout these coobic feet things, being a child of the metric system, I and the rest of the world, work in metres, kg etc.... helium density is 0.1785 kg/cubic metre dry air is 1.29 kg/cubic metre. so......a balloon of 1 cubic metre of helium can lift about 1.1 kg at sea level, assuming temps/press etc are equal. So what you really need to know is how many cubic metres will it take to get an Aggs airborne, without the expense of jump tix...... lets say an Agg weighs about 110 kgs, with rig of course.... A bare minimum would be 100 cubic metres of helium, plus a little more to account for the weight of the balloon itself....about 3530 cubic feet. Of course to actually fly (control ascent / descent) the thing, you will need counter weights, and a means of releasing helium as described earlier in the thread.....and more balloons to account for the weight of water etc And yes it is possible to get airborne and drop from one of these clusters..... Och mannie, it must be my strange accent..But ye cannae change the laws o' physics! Think about an umbrella inverting in a strong wind.. What Paul says is truth on the MPEG2 stuff... The dazzle bridge might help, other DV bridges exist too.... also it might be easier to transfer the footage from the Micro DV cam to a Mini Dv via the analogue connections. Then import / edit from there. Or find someone with a good quality analogue capture card such as a DC30+... buy them lots of beer, and ask very kindly. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me. Gus, you are thinking about this the wrong way. "The kill-line runs from the apex of the pc, down through the bridle and attaches at the dbag, right?" No, the kill line (along with the 'security' line)attaches to the canopy, the bridle attaches to the d-bag. Attached to the bridle is the PC 'skirt'. During deployment, whilst the canopy is in the bag the bridle takes all the load, transferred via the suspension lines, risers, and the harness. Once the canopy is out of the bag, the drag force causes the PC to 'invert' by pulling the PC skirt and bridle 'up the kill line'. So the kill line doesn't actually withdraw anything, the moving parts are the bridle and bag sliding up the kill line, being pulled by the drag on the PC and skirt. -------------------- He who receives an idea from me, receives instruction himself without lessening mine; as he who lights his taper at mine, receives light without darkening me.
