  1. Have a great birthday Mel. Blue skies, Jim
  2. Happy B day! Remember you're always a kid to some of us... Welcome to POPS. Blue skies, Jim
  3. Congrats Lisa! I am still trying to bring my logbooks current so I can get mine!!! Blue skies, Jim
  4. So when Dave sends them jumpers because he is to busy to handle the load they are supposed to tell them no! Right! You don't know the relationship between the freeflyers... Blue skies, Jim
  5. Please add: LO-Trent LO-FreeflyDookie Gemini Thanks, Blue skies, Jim
  6. Oops! My mistake guys (what do I know I'm an RW guy.) You are right there is no "free" 1-on-1 FF coaching at the convention. However, if you pay for their slot, I bet you can get 1-on-1 coaching. These guys love to jump and would rather be in the air than waiting for a big way to build. Make them an offer and see what they say! Thanks Gary for the additional organizer information. Blue skies, Jim

    Blue skies dad

Chris: He is in a better place, free from pain and with those who left before him. You will see him again someday. And for that celebrate his life, not his passing from us. Blue skies, Jim
  8. I am sure Max, Dave, Anomaly and the other FF organizers would disagree. The RW groups are larger, but you can get one-on-one free FF coaching and organizing at any time. Blue skies, Jim
  9. And Kennedy lied to everyone, and Carter lied about General Singlaub and ruined his career. Your point is? Blue skies, Jim
  10. I've got almost 1,600 jumps on a Hawk suit (my first suit). It's really showing it's age though--right knee is ripped from seam to seam, left bootie zipper is sewn shut, main zipper blows apart all the time, left arn gripper is tearing off, spandex is blown out, cordura is pulling away from front of booties, and lots of tears on back of legs. Only good thing is the bootie leather because I'm on the third set for the suit! Blue skies, Jim
  11. I disagree with you Bill. I think most .commers are more liberal than conservative outside the South and that seems to apply to skydivers in general. And this year the liberals seem to be very, very outspoken. This is based on only my personal observations and responses I get. Definitely not scientific... Blue skies, Jim
  12. If you thought Skyfest was great, come on out for the Texas State Record weekend to be held August 20th through 22nd. There will be 6 otters and 1 skyvan and I think Steve will bring back the helicopter and powered parachute for sure and maybe the balloon. Plenty of fun jumps for anyone not on the record attempts. If you want to jump on the record register at http://www.texasstaterecord.com. If not come on out and play. Ivette and Valdimir will be cooking again and there will be plenty of refreshments for all. Blue skies, Jim
  13. Hope we never have to find out. Battlefield nukes are not the megawhoppers you are talking about. I have a picture of a special forces trooper carrying one under canopy. It is hanging below his crotch. The mission was for him to plant the damn thing, set the timer and leave the area. What he didn't know was that it could be remotely detonated from the highest HQ in the AOO at any time. When the guy with the codes disappeared outside of Saigon for a few days you should have seen the panic! {Yes I know this doesn't have anything to do with precision!} Blue skies, Jim
  14. That logic doesn't make any sense Bill. Perhaps the dz.com population is more liberal than the general population. It makes as much sense as your reply. Blue skies, Jim
  15. The change in policy allowing the sale of precision instruments and parts that enabled China to develop pin-point accuracy for their new ballistic missles will be extremely costly to the US. Hey, but it helped elect a few Democrats so what's the big deal? Blue skies, Jim
  16. On one rainy day one of the mumpers decided to test the service. He looked up the number and called from a jumpers cell phone from the manifest office. Acted like he knew nothing about skydiving, but wanted to verify that we could jump at Spaceland or Waller for the advertised price of $129. When he was told "yes", he asked how that could be possible since the weekend priice was $189 without a coupon. The person on the other end of the phone said without missing a beat that "well, the $129 is for the jump only, and that he would need a pilot chute, and other accessories that the DZ normally charges for before jumping". Yep sounds like a reputable outfit to me! Blue skies, Jim
  17. I have seen many of the packers at Spaceland refuse payment after a mal even when they knew it wasn't their fault. Personally, I wouldn't refuse to pay a packer because sometimes shit just happens. I've had very hard openings from a Triathalon and a Sabre 2, one of which left me with a fractured & herniated back and kept me from jumping for 5 months. No apparent reason for the openings and probably nothing the packer did differently. After the Sabre 2 slammer, I took a week off from jumping and then went to Rantoul. Bought a 10-pack of packing tickets from Packin' Kathy who I had met at Eloy during the 300 way. After the 3rd jump, I knew something was really wrong because I couldn't walk, stand, sleep, etc. Trent or Stevie took my unused tickets back to Kathy and she refunded the full amount even though I only wanted to return the 7 unused tickets and after being told the injury happened prior to WFFC. I will definitely have Kathy pack for me at any boogie she works. Blue skies, Jim
  18. I've got about 800 jumps on a 150 loaded at1.4. As everyone else said, the openings are gentle, but can be erratic. It helps to fly the deployment. I've had several openings into line twist and had it spin itself into line twist several times as well, but nothing I couldn't easily get out of. Having an unstowed brake on opening was a different story...very exciting! Blue skies, Jim
  19. Yes, ....do you need something? Anyway I will be there too, just to lazy to add my name to the looong list. Several of us last night were talking about a dz.com keg... Blue skies, Jim
  20. My original dz never transitioned me. All the student gear which was the also the rental gear was ripcord. As soon as I finished AFF in Texas I went to the Ranch to jump with Trent who had also just finished his AFF. Sonic looked over my logbook and gave me the BOC training and then did one jump with me. Everything went fine on that first BOC jump. Trent and I signed up for the next load and went out as two consecutive solos. I was enjoying the freefall, the mountains and scenery. At around 5k I pulled and then realized I still had the hackey in my hand! Couldn't have been more than a few seconds, but it really drove home how important repetitive drills are and how strong muscle memory can be. Blue skies, Jim
  21. Does anyone know how Tony & Mike are doing after their auto accident? Blue skies, Jim
  22. We launched the 4 way and Anomaly docked and dropped. We then broke into to groups, flew side by side to get the fall rate. One group then turned 180 and we zipped. Broke grips again and both groups turned 180 and we zipped again. As we were going back to the round the hangers dropped away at 5k. Blue skies, Jim
  23. Whoa! Where's Stevie? Is he invited too? Blue skies, Jim
  24. Finally made it ...with thanks to Anomaly, Chris M, Debbie G and Karen T. Picture is 3rd point of hybrid (Round, zipper, 180 deg turn, zipper). What a way to celebrate 1,500 jumps, Father's day, and 4th Anniversary in skydiving! Blue skies, Jim
  25. Anomaly will be FF organizers again at WFFC. If you need coach jumps, just ask one of them. Blue skies, Jim
