According to the state department website, travel between the US and Canada now requires a passport or a state-issued ID and proof of citizenship, such as a birth certificate. "Canadian law requires that all persons entering Canada must carry both proof of citizenship and identity. A valid U.S. passport or NEXUS card satisfies these requirements for U.S. citizens. If U.S. citizen travelers to Canada do not have a passport or approved alternate document such as a NEXUS card, they must show a government-issued photo ID (e.g. Driver’s License) and proof of U.S. citizenship such as a U.S. birth certificate, naturalization certificate, or expired U.S. passport." http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/cis/cis_1082.html Ok, Now I'm confused. What's in Canada LP is in Montana right. Try not to laugh....it's been a long day, my brain isn't working and I could barely sit and see straight. Why take a birth certificate??? Seems like a unnecessary risk to take something highly confidential/critical only to lose it... You only need cash and/or plastic and a drivers license or ID. should it be required to jump without an AAD?
RALFFERS replied to shermanator's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I agree. Now bare in mind I'm a newbee wanting to learn as much as I can. Therefore, I must ask - is there a difference between a jump that's not to dangerous to have an ADD Vs 1 that is? In my opinion, all jumps are inherently dangerous. However, as it has been said many, many times before - an AAD should never be relied upon over one's training... Having said that, it's yet another safety measure to have just in case; and if such a device is available it doesn't hurt to use it to your advantage. Not only would it have prevented the recent Elsinore incident, but is also an added backup to have in the case of a dislocated shoulder, thus resulting in the very real possibility of not being able to pull the reserve handle. For what it's worth...I find it reassuring to know that one can have such a deficit and still be able to jump. -

I just got back from the doc...and...thankfully everything looks normal. He ran a whole bunch of tests (WAY more than usual) and his conclusion was that it must a fluke, or I was just tired. However, he did say that if it ever happens again I'm to come back right away. The additional good news is, although I need a stronger prescription for my glasses it's not bad enough to need right away - was told I could come back for it whenever I have a minute. Nice to know that my vision hasn't worsened much at all over the year & 1/2 that I didn't have an exam. In the meantime I'm going to start utilizing the Bates method mentioned earlier & also get into juicing in an effort to be on a healthier diet. Could a person have both deficiencies? I already wear a light Rx to see things at a distance (I only have difficulties seeing letters.) I'd hate to have to wear glasses for seeing things up close now as well. I'm not gonna worry about it just yet; just gonna go to the oc and see what he says. For now though...I'm going back to bed. -

No, none at all. It very well could be that I was just tired last night. Nonetheless I'll still go to the doc; it's time for my routine checkup anyway. Dialogue/commentary between Divot, Twardo & myself - "from your first Oshkosh when the three of us were riding to or from one of -

This is the first time I ever noticed something like this... I've been sitting here, reading the recent Elsinore incident thread - and I noticed that after only a few seconds of staring at the screen, my eyesight gets very, VERY blurry. If I look away from the screen it goes away (I only notice it a tad bit.) I've tried looking at the screen again a few times, and every time it gets to the point that my vision is impaired to a good degree. Obviously, I need to go to a eye doctor to get my prescription checked - I will do this tomorrow as early in the day as possible. However, what concerns me is the sudden onset of whatever this is and the severity of it. Any ideas??
