I've had a Nitron 170 with HMA lines for the last 25ish jumps, and on 99% of those jumps, the slider needed some rear riser input to get it to drop. It was the same story on the Fusion 190 I jumped a while back as well. Is this the norm for an HMA lined canopy, or should I look for something else that may be causing the problem? How did you're first Hop & Pop go?
millertimeunc replied to Sletzer's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
My first 5 skydives ever were hop'n'pops from 4500 feet. Exit stable, count to 7, and pull the nifty yellow cord attached to your right main lift web. If that screws up, pull the even niftier red cord on your left main lift web. This was done at the Air Force Academy, which as far as I know is still the only place in America where you jump solo your first time. Almost didn't get to finish my 5 jumps because cadets kept throwing the damn ripcord after pulling it! -
I can get it for $10 for 1.5 liters. There is no word too strong The best things in life are dangerous.

I think I love this wine a little more than I should. Anyone else out there have a favorite? The best things in life are dangerous.

I've never been a fan of the so-called "2 stage flare", but rather I thought that you should fly your canopy by the seat of your pants all the way to the ground. Feel what it's doing, plane it out properly, and land softly every time. Oh, and I've remebered what a good friend told me: "your flare isn't done until you're touching yourself." Beautiful weekend at Palatka. Made 2 wingsuit jumps, and a full altitude hop'n'pop at sunset with a couple of friends. Nice! The best things in life are dangerous.

I remember 18 years ago. I was looking forward to first grade... The best things in life are dangerous.

I use an alternator zero myself. Tastes the same, and NONE of the calories. The best things in life are dangerous.

I didn't know there was such a thing as an alternator light. What kind of car is it? The best things in life are dangerous.

Sandpaper. I like it rough. The best things in life are dangerous.

I'm a fan of QI and Have I Got News For You. Paul Merton is funnier than any American comedian I've ever seen. The best things in life are dangerous.

Yellow Tail shiraz. For some reason, I just can't get enough of it.

Because I can't deal with boredome. That's probably the best answer I've got. Probably also explains why I drive at least 10 mph over everywhere I go... The best things in life are dangerous.

Do REAL MEN use girly IM abbrevs. like "OMG?"
millertimeunc replied to RastaRicanAir's topic in The Bonfire
I hear ya on the military acronyms. I went active duty in October and have spent much of my time since then trying to figure out what the hell everyone's talking about. True story, my supervisor's first tasking for me was to "get on the AFP and take the CBT on the DTS and GTC, and then get trained to be the new UFPM." The best things in life are dangerous. -
That does it, I'm gonna sue the pencil company for the tests I failed in college! The best things in life are dangerous.

When I went active duty a few months ago, I was required to get a flu shot and about 6 other immunizations over the course of a few weeks. The flu shot didn't bother me, just the number of shots they give at one time. They give us up to 3 different vaccinations at a time, which makes you feel terrible for a day or two while your body tries to sort out all the new stuff floating around in it. That helmet might help his wing loading, but I don't know how far he's gonna be swooping that Spectre 210 . The best things in life are dangerous.

Found near the center of the airport at Palatka. Contact me via PM to claim it.

I think it's great that Al Gore is out there warning us all about the latest thing we should be afraid of, especially...manbearpig...I'm super super serial... The best things in life are dangerous.

I flew a Spectre for about 100 jumps after I got off student status, then I started to demo different mains when I was looking to downsize. The Safire 2 was a great canopy, but it flared a little too deep for my taste. I'd suggest trying a Fusion 190. There is life after PD... Seriously, though, any one of those canopies would be great. I learned a hell of a lot on my Spectre, and I can't say enough good things about it. Demo as much as you can, then get the canopy you want. The best things in life are dangerous.

I'm the one who gave him the rig. It had around 140 jumps on it when I got it, and I put about 100 more on it. It's a J4 DOM 1994, and the tuck tab is nowhere near worn out. Before I gave him the rig, the main closing flap would come open in a sit and expose the bridle no matter what I did to it. I tried everything. I'm thinking it might be because the J4 is sized for a 190, but you can squeeze a 210 in it, and I did. Maybe most of the mid-90's Javelins have a problem with the main closing flap popping open in various freefly orientations, but I've never looked into it. An experienced rigger would probably know more about that. As for the modification, the main lift web wasn't touched, and the mod is nothing that can't be undone in a matter of minutes by a rigger with no compromise to the rig. Basically, nothing structurally integral to the rig was tampered with. ...And yes, the J4 is very comfy, but not as comfy as my new Mirage The best things in life are dangerous.

Are they still operating, or have they shut down? The best things in life are dangerous.

One word: don't. The fuel economy on hybrid cars isn't really worth it for what you'll eventually end up paying in maintenance for the car's electrical system. If you want to save money on gas, get a VW golf or jetta diesel, and then drive it forever, or modify it to run on vegetable oil. The best things in life are dangerous.

How About Cutting SKYRIDE Some Slack?
millertimeunc replied to skypapa's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Is charging a customer for the "pilot chute fee" ethical? Is charging a customer for "extra altitude" ethical? Is charging a customer to "ride in the big plane" ethical? You skyride lackies make me want to puke. There's a reason why I live 5 miles from Prattville but still make the trip to Opelika to jump. The best things in life are dangerous. -
Civilian jumps can earn a Parachutist Badge???

Or go through AM-490 at the AF Academy. That's how I got my wings!
