Trent, Ankie had suggested I pack grommet up. What benefit do you see in packing grommet down? Seems like that would be a lot of extra movement on deployment not to mention a potential for the bridle to cause extra wear to the inside of the container. "Your mother's full of stupidjuice!" SD Chicago 4th of July weekend
scottbre replied to kansasskydiver's topic in Events & Places to Jump
I think I'm going to be doing the All-you-can-jump Boogie at Chicagoland that Saturday and Sunday and then going up to SDC on Monday. -
What is a reasonable number of jumps to expect to get in a day at this DZ?

It was built for a Spectre 150 and that's what's in it. I guess that it's just not the greatest design. "Your mother's full of stupidjuice!" My Art Project

I recently got a wings container with the freefly style PC handle. I love my Wings but the handle doesn't seem to provide the security that I has assumed was the whole point of the freefly handle. So that leaves me wondering: 1.) What am I doing wrong? or 2.) is the freefly handle mod not all that it's cracked up to be? I've tried a couple different things: 1.) I tried packing my canopy a little wider so that there is more bulk under the area where the tab on the handle is supposed to tuck into the bottom of the container. This helped a little bit but it's still very easy to knock out of its position, at which point it's just hanging there by the connecting point to the PC. 2.) I've also turned the handle around and tucked the tab into the elastic part of the the cordura BOC. This is actually my most secure option so far, but again, doesn't take much to knock it loose. (by knock it loose I mean that it has come out with just moving the rig to a new resting place or by just getting into and sitting in the plane.) 3.) the other thing I have tried is tucking the tab into the bottom of the container where it's supposed to be and pulling it towards the back of the container so that the curve in the container catches and holds it a little tighter. All of these things sort of work, but none seem to make my rig less prone to the types of situations that I thought the freefly handle was developed to avoid. Has anyone else had or known of someone who has had this issue? What was done to better secure the freefly handle? "Your mother's full of stupidjuice!" My Art Project

Maybe I'm a sick messed up freak, but just knowing that they are fake (regardless of the quality of the boob-job) makes her less attractive to me. "Your mother's full of stupidjuice!" My Art Project

I live in Indianapolis, and am happy to say that I spent sunday skydiving and could care less about the future of F1 in Indy. "Your mother's full of stupidjuice!" My Art Project

I went from a 220 to a 170 after about 100 jumps. I had no issues with it at all.

Here are the pictures I took: http://www.photoworks.com/share/shareLanding.jsp?shareCode=A94C572BC64&cb=PW You should have the ability to download larger versions of them from this site as well (Just click on the "View Photos Larger" link over on the right after starting the slideshow). Just list me (Scott Brechmacher) as a contributing photographer/videographer somewhere. "Your mother's full of stupidjuice!" My Art Project

Val, you're such a baby . I'll take this weather over the crappy 20 - 40 degree days that we're so lucky to have for the other half of the year. When it's hot like this, that's the perfect excuse to go skydiving. That air feels GOOOD. "Your mother's full of stupidjuice!" My Art Project

When you need to get a new rig
scottbre replied to Darius11's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
While I wouldn't recommend it, I am currently jumping gear that originally had a 220 in it, with a 150 spectre in it now. It works, the openings are just a bit more unpleasant than I would like. I jumped a 170 in the rig for a long time with no problems at all, I can't imagine that your downsize would require you to get new gear since it's not even as big of a downsize as when I went from a 220 to a 170. But I'm just a jumper who's done it, not a gear company that wants to sell you new gear. Plus I make no claims as to how safe not getting new gear is, just relaying my experience. I'm on Aenima by Tool, now. Hmmm, guess the angry music is helping me work today. "Your mother's full of stupidjuice!" My Art Project

... What are you listening to? My iPod is currently playing Sober by Tool. "Your mother's full of stupidjuice!" My Art Project

Can I be on your freefly team? That way I won't have to feel like such a tool for wanting the exact same suit, in my size. "Your mother's full of stupidjuice!" My Art Project

Funny how you complain that everyone was holding your hand through your training, and then turn around and complain that they weren't holding your hand enough when you had an accident ("no one told me"). You're responsible for yourself in this sport. "Your mother's full of stupidjuice!" My Art Project

For those who progressed on S/L
scottbre replied to kcjumpersgirl's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I was done with my "progression" by jump 30, however I did some practice and dz hopping before doing my official check dive, so I didn't get my A license until jump 64. -

I recently heard that a certain DZ would be withholding their staff paychecks in order to perform maintenance on their hanger and airplane. Seems to me that this isn't the best way to keep employees and may very well be an illegal business practice. Any of you human resource/lawyer types have any more specific knowledge about the implications of something like this, beyond it just being a pretty crappy way to treat employees? I'm not saying that most people get tattoos for what others will think. What I'm saying is that because tribal tattoos are popular right now, people are "personally" drawn to them. But the reason so many people like them is because they are "in" right now, so everyone's tastes just sort of lean in this direction currently. But yea, it's still every persons personal decision, I'm just saying that for most people, that "personal" decision is more strongly influenced by a collective social preference than they think it is. Become annoying this thread it will. To read and write hard to will this thread be. "Your mother's full of stupidjuice!" My Art Project

Neat idea but one day in the future, tribal tattoos aren't going to be "in" and then all the millions of people who got them are going to be hearing a lot of "Oh, you must've gotten that tattoo sometime between 1990 and 2010." "Your mother's full of stupidjuice!" My Art Project

Skydive Greene County Memorial Boogie!
scottbre replied to PhreeZone's topic in Events & Places to Jump
I just sent this to the two people who will be coming with me to SGC this weekend, but then realized that it could benefit anyone else who has never jumped at SGC and may be coming to share the skies with us this weekend: "I thought that you could benefit from seeing what the dz we're going to be jumping at this weekend will look like from the air: http://maps.google.com/maps?q=xenia,+oh&ll=39.679441,-83.866260&spn=0.010836,0.015836&t=k&hl=en See that big X in the middle of the picture? That's the peas. Spend some time looking at the DZ now, and you won't need to look at it as much when you get to the DZ, and will be more comfortable with the things you need to look for in the air to orient yourselves. Recognizeable things to look for if you get a long spot: The double laned highway 35 that is to the north of the DZ. The tree line that curves to the south of the dz so that the DZ is sitting right above the "hump". The big X that is pretty hard to miss. " "Your mother's full of stupidjuice!" My Art Project
