Thanks for that info. I don't have an Icon I1, but was considering one with a Speed! Even if I just had a 135 in it, it is bigger than what I got now, although it is just below the reserve tray volume quoted... Maybe I'll just keep my current containers and put a new reserve in. One of my rigs (Javelin RS) has a Techno 115, maybe be able to replace that with a Speed 150? I knew Speeds packed smaller, but hadn't appreciated that they appear to pack quite so much smaller. With their apparent ability to get considerably more fabric above your head, or if you're the type that still wants a tiny reserve you can get an even tinier looking rig on your back, I'm surprised they aren't even more prominent! I'll certainly be looking for one in the future as and when I upgrade my current reserves. Without intending to come across facetiously, given your pack volume figures are reliable, could I genuinely expect to be able to fit a speed 2000 150 in an icon i1 given that it fits a smart 99 which has a nearly the same quoted pack volume? Genuine question. Sky Switches - Affordable stills camera tongue switches and conversion adaptors, supporting various brands of camera (Canon, Sony, Nikon, Panasonic).

Jerry, cheers for the offer the mil std, but I'm not likely to ever be in a position to measure anything like this myself. I just like to follow what's going on! This is where pack volumes can become exceptionally confusing. GOing on the info available, a Smart 99 is only 4 cu in smaller than a Speed 2000 150, so more or less the same, so it should then fit in an Icon I1. I would probably gamble my life savings on a Speed 2000 150 not being able to be packed (safely) into an I1. If you could, I think an I1 with the Speed 150 would be my next container reserve combo. I'm guessing a lot is down to how each manufacturer measured their volume. Does the volume just comprise the volume of the canopy material, or the material and the lines? Has anyone got any actual real life experience in comparing volumes of Op.s and Speed 2000s? How reliable are the manufacturer's pack volumes? I mean, does the Speed 150 really pack basically as small as a Op. 113? Sky Switches - Affordable stills camera tongue switches and conversion adaptors, supporting various brands of camera (Canon, Sony, Nikon, Panasonic).

Can't guarantee the accuracy, as all prices are user inputted, but you can find a list of prices for different DZs here: http://www.jumpticketprices.com/dropzones.asp Sky Switches - Affordable stills camera tongue switches and conversion adaptors, supporting various brands of camera (Canon, Sony, Nikon, Panasonic). -
Yeah, it is. Just want to find out if Cameron Maples has had his kit stolen, or what, as I was sent lots of detailed pictures of the rig, all of which matched up to the serials on the packing card that had Cameron's name on it. As per the title. I was buying a rig that nickmacher77 was "selling" on the classifieds. The advert is now gone, but I got a screen grab. Sent me loads of pictures of the rig, including packing card that had Cameraon Maples name on it. Bit of googling showed that cameron did own the kit, so has either sold it on or had it stolen. Email contact with Nick got to him "shipping" the rig with a "courier company" that is a known disease vector site - a site that looks official, but isn't. The shipping company isn't known at all thorugh googling. Anyway, I want to find out if anyone else has dealt with nickmacher77? Or knows Cameron Maples to try and find out if it is still his kit or not. Cheers. Question About Wing Loading and Experience
degeneration replied to iinastynateii's topic in Gear and Rigging
I went from a 170 loaded at about 1 to a 150 loaded at about 1.15. I noticed a difference, but mainly cause I was going from a shitty old PD170 that lacked power in its flare, to a nice, brand new Pilot 150, which comparitively had awesome power in its flare. Everything about the downsize was better for me. I loved the step down in size. HOWEVER, I did that at about 110 jumps, when I felt more than ready for it and was feeling very comfortable under the 170. If you really are in no rush, then get a 170 for now. If you are on a budget then you will probably find an analogue altimeter to be cheaper than a digital one. It should give you your altitude more than adequately for your level. Some people also state that for low jump number/inexperienced people a clock face style analogue alti is more intuitive and quicker to use than a digital one. Depending on where you are jumping, if it is the UK, you won't be able to use that full face until you have 50 jumps + B licence, as they do restrict your field of view a bit. So you may have to look for a cheap open face helmet. A cheap and cheerful protec style is more than good enough. Gloves and goggles can be got really cheap (comparitively) usually but they are worth having. A hook knife is mandatory in the UK for A licence up I believe, not sure about elsewhere, but they are quite cheap and again worth having. Hopefully you'll never need it. Audible altimeters are an additional nice thing to have, giving you a back up to your altitude awareness. Stress the back up part. Don't rely on them 100%! Some also feature jump logs which is nice in a geeky way. Jumpsuit, get a cheap 2nd (or more) hand one that is functional and does the job. Once you have more money and know what level you want to go to in whatever your discipline(s) of choice are, then you can if you want get a more expensive bells and whistles one. That should get you started. Sky Switches - Affordable stills camera tongue switches and conversion adaptors, supporting various brands of camera (Canon, Sony, Nikon, Panasonic).

Go-Pro cameye/hypeye style indicator
degeneration replied to degeneration's topic in Photography and Video
Saw this on a facebook group today. Looks like there is now an indicator for GoPros. You'll not have to have your video footage consistently start with "Is it on?" question any more!! Please note, I've nothing to do with the shop. http://www.pro-on.com/-Pro-On_LED_Indicator/p2559585_11778182.aspx Sky Switches - Affordable stills camera tongue switches and conversion adaptors, supporting various brands of camera (Canon, Sony, Nikon, Panasonic). -

Check ebay too. When I was looking a while back found some on there too, which may have been cheaper than the chutingstar price. What helmet you got? I've got the straight cable in an FF2 helmet. It does stick into the padding, but hte cable then bends back on itself. With the padding I barely notice it. Another alternative, given the price of the 90 degree cable is to look out for a 2nd hand hypeye. I've recently gone down the twin sony cx route so was looking for another cameye with the adapter, but found a 2nd hand hypeye for the same price (about £40). With shipping and the like for the 90 degree adapter you may luck out looking for a hypeye. http://www.chutingstar.com/skydive/cameye-ii-d-plug-converter I personally use a non-90 degree one (i.e. is straight) because it was a hell of a lot cheaper than the price of the one in the link. If you consider a straight one, then I think it is the Manfrotto 522AV cable that you want. My personal opinion is that you need the right tool for the right job. People can do FF in an RW suit, but it'll be much harder and probably not as good. Vice versa is also true. You can do RW in a FF suit, but it'll be much harder and probably not as good. An all round suit, will be not great for FF or RW, but just ok. So if you are happy with that, try getting one, but if you want to be good at either, get the right tool for the job. There is no definite NEED for low profile, just what I would prefer. In my head I'm concluding that smaller = less possibility of something going wrong (in the interfering with my rig/lines sort of way). The 0.2 Opteka certainly seems like a cheap piece of crap at the moment, as it is notably worse in terms of clarity and quality than my other Opteka, the 0.43. I've seen a raynox semi fisheye hd3030 on ebay - that the sort of one you are meaning? What about the Waycool low profile lenses? In one UK DZ online shop, each colour is £175 ish - so not cheap. Is the red one any good? Sky Switches - Affordable stills camera tongue switches and conversion adaptors, supporting various brands of camera (Canon, Sony, Nikon, Panasonic).

I switch it on, and I've never had to use it. It hasn't malfunctioned on me. I like mine just as much as I like the Vigil in my other rig and the Cypres I've used in the past. Cheers for the reply. I mean outside filming. Need that wide? No idea on the whole! Reason I'm asking: I've gone 2 CX 115's in my set up now. My main one has an Opteka 0.43 lens which is zoomed in a little to remove the heavy distortion and the "black ring" round the outside. While in most cases this is more than enough FOV to capture everything, as I try to get closer and closer to the formation and just in case I have a "distracted moment", my secondary is going to have a wider FOV. Obviously anything wider than a 0.43 would probably do. I went with the opteka 0.2 because of the low profile, which appealed lots, so in my head I've wrongly stuck to the 0.2 rating, when it is really the low profile nature I'm after coupled with wider than the 0.43. I think I had standard stabilization on for some jumps last year, and on my setting on the 0.43 I did have them going out of my FOV briefly at times. So any lense wider than a 0.43 and low profile. I changed to a second CX from an actioncam because I just wanted something a bit more pro looking! And the cost of my second CX and the opteka 0.2 lens was less than what I sold the action cam for, so the money return was appealing. COuld come back to bite me now... Cheers, and that sucks! So, any footage from it is not going to be used for anything commercial, just my own fun and filming 4 way. But if I were to want to upgrade to a similar FOV lens that doesn't have those effects, what would be the cheapest suitable alternative? Doesn't have to be perfect, just better than the Opteka. Sky Switches - Affordable stills camera tongue switches and conversion adaptors, supporting various brands of camera (Canon, Sony, Nikon, Panasonic).

Bringing up an old post rather than starting a new one. I got the Opteka 0.2 and notice on my cx115 that around the edges the colours are splitting. Is there something that can be done to reduce this (other than buying a new lens), or is it just how its going to be? Aero Tech's website - www.flyaerotech.com Aerodyne's website - www.flyaerodyne.com Aero Tech's address - 1405 Flightline Blvd, Deland. Aerodyne's address - 1407 flightline Blvd, Deland. Are the two companies related? Maybe I'm thinking of the addresses in too much of a British way, as being 2 different in the number would usually put them next to each other over here, no idea if that's the same with the acres more space available in the US?!
