cant say much about the sabre2, but i like my saf a lot, and got awesome customer-service when i've had a problem with it. they fixed it free of charge after 4 years of use and approximately 200 jumps, no shipping costs plus a free t-shirt. FUCK YEAH! anytime again!

i was looking at one the other day, and to be honest, i wasnt so impressed with all the jazz i've heard. risers and toggles wanted to pop out every time you looked at it hard enough. i didnt like that. wouldnt want to change it for my micron, but that's just me. “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. Which AAD to get? Vigil II, Cypres 2, M2?
virgin-burner replied to valoche's topic in Gear and Rigging
just had my cypres maintained, cost me CHF 220.-, that is roughly EUR 200.-, shipping included. you're being ripped off by jack the rigger. as to the OP: the cypres may cost more, but i'm pretty certain it will ALWAYS fire when it has to and wont when it's outside the parameters, e.g. slamming the trunk closed in your car while still turned on. with EVERY other AAD, i would not be so certain. “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. as some of you may know, i almost got killed in a work accident over a year ago. in the aftermath, i've lost about 66lbs. now, my "eye-wateringly" expensive sonic freefly suit is a little wobbly here and there. looks like i'm wearing a fucking trashbag really. anyone got theirs re-fit? went through a seamstress, rigger, back to factory? it's a sonic v2.0, so quite a bit of cordura and other not so standard materials, so i guess the seamstress is out. “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. What was more intense?
virgin-burner replied to antieverything's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
BASE is scarier and more fullfilling; who doesnt like to spend a day or a couple in the mountains hiking, no crowded planes and you dont have to deal with the idiots if you dont want to. -
I've found this as well. I like the magnets, but prefer the bulk to Jerry Baumchen or the UPT bags. However, no matter which stowless you end up wth, you'll be happy (or at least, I was). so you had a tight fitting canopy in a lazy-bag and liked it more than the UPT or JB's version(s)? “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. ............................................................................................ All curved pins need some slack ... Roughly double the length of the pin ... That is why many rigs have a small piece if Velcro on the top flap, to remind packers to leave a bit if slack in the bridle before it disappears inside the container. uhm, excuse my ignorance, i think that's the first time i've heard that? if i've let double the length of the bridle hang out on my vector it would only be a matter of time until it snagged on something and i'd be hanging on the tail of the plane and/or had a premie in freefall. that is with the from bottom to top method of routing the bridle. “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. I plan to do something like this in the spring. Demo a handful of resesrves (PD, OP, maybe Nano or Smart) and put a bunch of jumps on them, keep detailed notes, and write up an article for DZ/Parachutist/BlueSkies talking about how they pack, open, fly, and land. I can't perfectly duplicate a reserve opening, but I can free pack it like a reserve or base canopy to simulate it. have you done this? can you supply a link? and yes, holy thread resurrection.. “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. Thompson "No. Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try." -Yoda

one ride on a 126 @1.5 or so.. swoops better than my safire2; loved the ride, cant imagine a reserve to fly any better than that, but my experience is very limited, so.. i'd totally recommend it. also on the plus side, it's the only reserve in ORANGE, which actually kinda did influence my decision back then a bit.. fashion victim! “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. Backpacking Round The World.. How Do I take my rig?
virgin-burner replied to TWPalmer's topic in Gear and Rigging
get the tiniest canopy/reserve you can find; otherwise you will only be able to bring a pair of boxers and a pair of socks with your 25lbs.. “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. Thompson "No. Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try." -Yoda
