Please help with Jumpsuit design research!
virgin-burner replied to MarieL's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
the Rainbow thermal suit is great best option I have on my Sonic classic suits is not on the option list.... But they did them for me (I only know of 3 suits with that, including 2 of my suits)... Jean pockets... so I can put my hands in the pockets while on the ground. arent you a leutnant in military? they should of made them, then sewn them together.. “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. what is this "hanging harness" you're speaking of!? “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. Thompson "No. Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try." -Yoda

i wanted a basik first, then ended up getting a vector; i'm not unhappy about how that worked out!

i merely suggested that article and stated we were not trained how to do one. i've done martial arts for a long time, and especially in judo, we were "PLFing" for hours on end.. not saying i dont know how to do it, just saying it wasnt part of the curriculum. that's all!

If you lend your gear out....
virgin-burner replied to Rover's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
if you're fine with it, fine, and you're a cool guy. still, i would like to be asked and would probably ok with it. in this day and age where everyone has a mobile, permission granted is only a fingertip away.. -

well, if someone ASK if they can lend your gear, that's fine.. but just TAKING it - that should result in a bitch-slapping! “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. Thompson "No. Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try." -Yoda -
D jump requirements - USPA
virgin-burner replied to nigel99's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
and what does that have to do with license-requirements? please stay on topic! pretty simple to make you look like an idiot, right!? if you quote, please do so in context.. “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. Thompson "No. Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try." -Yoda -
having bought my rig "online", having taken all measurements myself and got a bit of assistance from the mfgr's.. i saved something in the area of 2 or 3 grand. that includes phonecalls, taxes and everything. over there that's worth how many jumps, something like 100!? oh, and i enjoyed the opportunity to learn a bit about gear. i even hooked up my main myself! besides the money saving, great experience all around!

Do the pack jobs from the guy with the waiting list open, while the other guys don't? if you'te too busy doing other stuff and give a shit about your customers, so be it. if you're busy with other stuff, but actually do provide service, well, i'll gladly take the drive!

and the same guy is 10 bucks cheaper, too! “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. Thompson "No. Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try." -Yoda

Or a decent price and great service, a few dollars are of no concern to me if the service is there. local riggers reply to my question when he could pack my reserve: "4 weeks, maybe!" rigger 2hrs away, me (pretty much every time i need him) "dude, can i bring my rig tomorrow, and uhm, could you like pack it straight away!?" him: "no probs mate, just gimme a couple hours, i promise you can still make a load or two that day!". which would you bring your buisness to!? “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. I agree with you. I believe the "D" in its current form is quite redundant. It gives permission to win a gold wings/badge award (big deal), and permission to go for a PRO rating. The PRO rating needs can be satisfied far better if incorporated directly into the PRO rating criteria and tests. The "D" isn't a leadership qualification or a teaching qualification. It really isn't a "license" at all, in the strict meaning of the word. I agree with the general sentiment here. Don't forget TI in your list though. I still think that the D should be reviewed and made more difficult. Something a few people have hinted at is canopy control. Perhaps you should only be allowed to jump an HP canopy with a D license? most fatalities happen to D-license holders.. “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. how does the saying go: "you broke it, you bought it!". definitly rings true in skydiving! “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. Thompson "No. Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try." -Yoda -
Are you being a dick or do you truly not know? Either way it illustrates the problem in a way that my poor prose cannot. a bit of both; i have never learned how to do a PLF. there was an article on here not too long ago An inconvenient truth regarding PLF's, which you may like to read.. “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. good point; i think not only a senior-, but also a master rigger ticket should be required. and a pilot's license - probably even a pilot instructor rating. you want to be proficient in ALL aspects of skydiving, right!? how about demonstrating basic managment-skills? accounting? maybe you should even have knowledge of plane-maintenance.. i could go on and on! “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. Only Strong TI's need the cutaway. for all i know, you need a cutaway here for any rig; i could be mistaken tough, but i think not!? fish, where are you when we need you!? “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. Thompson "No. Try not. Do... or do not. There is no try." -Yoda -

If so, then: 1) I will need to buy an intentional cutaway rig to rent to a lot of candidates to make money. 2) I would have needed to pack a lot differently for my first 2000 jumps because my first legitimate cutaway in a typical skydiving rig was around 2000 jumps... (I had a non-skydiving malfunction on a base canopy packed in a skydiving rig at around 1000 jumps that would not have happened but for the base canopy) dont you USPA-guys need a cutaway if you want to be a TI!? “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S. I enjoy diversity and challenge. At my progression rate I am unlikely to achieve more than a C license. I also enjoy competing. It is useful to really know how good you are. I thought my accuracy was pretty good - till I came last in the competition. When I do get a license I want to know that I earned it, not that it came free in a cornflakes box. did an accuracy-competition/canopy course when i got my license; i came in first. probably as a result that my license DIDNT came free in a cornflake-box - at 25 jumps! “Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S.
