  1. And she's thinking "the little boy is shaking his head because he didn't know the answer either" "That formation-stuff in freefall is just fun and games but with an open parachute it's starting to sound like, you know, an extreme sport." ~mom
  2. Baksteinho. How disappointing. "That formation-stuff in freefall is just fun and games but with an open parachute it's starting to sound like, you know, an extreme sport." ~mom
  3. Why would anyone want to own inflatable homunculi? Oh, wait... "That formation-stuff in freefall is just fun and games but with an open parachute it's starting to sound like, you know, an extreme sport." ~mom
  4. No shit. I used to like that song, simply because *finally* something else than "Oh come all ye faithful" and the like had come along. Then my parents just had to go and buy a plastic reindeer head wreathed in fake holly to put on their front door. And every time someone comes near the dratted thing, it goes: "Hey - Have you seen Grandma around? Under the slei-eigh!? Well, don't look at me! It wasn't me drivin'!" And then it starts to sing that dratted song. Somehow, Christmas never has been the same since that accursed and dark Christmas of 2003. 5. I nominate "Happy Xmas", by John Lennon of all people. The "war is over if you want it" parts which the choir keeps on bleating just makes me sick. So this is Xmas And what have you done Another year over And a new one just begun And so this is Xmas I hope you have fun The near and the dear one The old and the young A very Merry Xmas And a happy New Year Let's hope it's a good one Without any fear And so this is Xmas For weak and for strong For rich and the poor ones The world is so wrong And so happy Xmas For black and for white For yellow and red ones Let's stop all the fight A very Merry Xmas And a happy New Year Let's hope it's a good one Without any fear And so this is Xmas And what have we done Another year over A new one just begun And so happy Xmas We hope you have fun The near and the dear one The old and the young A very Merry Xmas And a happy New Year Let's hope it's a good one Without any fear War is over, if you want it War is over now But, of the choices offered, I'd have to say "Dogs barking Jingle bells" - leaving its competitors a respectable distance behind it "That formation-stuff in freefall is just fun and games but with an open parachute it's starting to sound like, you know, an extreme sport." ~mom
  6. Though I am up for trying new foods at least once, and though there is not so much that I absolutely don't like, I absolutely loathe pineapple. Putting pineapple in any kind of foodstuff should be a capital offence. 7. I kinda liked this sentence in the full article: "That formation-stuff in freefall is just fun and games but with an open parachute it's starting to sound like, you know, an extreme sport." ~mom

  9. I'm not entirely sure about the exact definition of the "hard deck", but isn't there a "decision altitude" involved? For instance, my FJC taught that I must be under a landable canopy at 2000 feet, or it's choppety-chop-chop. So if i'd lose altitude awereness for whatever reason, and I would subsequently find myself fighting linetwists at 1300, I wouldn't even have to think about fixing it. The second decision altitude is 1000 ft. Not under a landale canopy by then? Just pull the silver without cutting away. (not second guessing or berating anyone, just asking for clarification) "That formation-stuff in freefall is just fun and games but with an open parachute it's starting to sound like, you know, an extreme sport." ~mom
  10. or.. they might actually downsize slower. With the unknown element of canopy flying, but their already smoking-hot freefall/freefly skills, they won't feel the need to fly a smaller canopy, cuz they know thatt the larger one will get them down safely, while still allowing them to exersise their freefall abilities. This assumption is just as valid as yours is, and just as based on speculation. The only thing we can say for now is that time will tell. 11. Did you see that? What a hypocrite He lights up the cigarette, giving it a good suck, and then he goes and demonstrates how bad smoking is for you. "That formation-stuff in freefall is just fun and games but with an open parachute it's starting to sound like, you know, an extreme sport." ~mom
  12. Am I the only one who's having a problem with this? To the OP, just out of curiosity, what would you have done had you been say, 400 ft. lower? No criticisms, no wise lesson. *Noob S'ingTFU again* "That formation-stuff in freefall is just fun and games but with an open parachute it's starting to sound like, you know, an extreme sport." ~mom
  13. I may be about to kick in an open door, but I feel it's necessary to say this. You are right, it doesn't. Another "unexpected" factor is ground rush. But none of the non-tunnel students are prepared for any of those things either. But the feeling of freefall-speed wind on your face, stable body position, freefall skills - that's the advantage of having done tunnel time. It's like learning to ski on one of those conveyor belt kinda thingies. You learn the basic techniques pretty well, but that don't mean you can just go out and ski from the black pistes in one go! You first have to overcome your fear of actually moving, and have to learn to deal with irregularities and ince in skiing pistes. Not to mention overcome your fear of the "ravines". So you take snow-skiing classes. IMO the only thing you have to watch out for is that such a student doesn't have a dangerous "know it all"attitude - but I'd guess those students would be a minority. 14. :1:0 Just one meagre measly jump - and I landed off as well, b/c I didn't notice until too late that jump run was 180 degrees in the wrong direction . (I was the last one out) Still, it was the first time in three weeks that the weather permitted jumping, so as a result I fell a lot less crabby than I did the past two weeks. I didn't make anymore jumps cuz #100 is approaching, and I want to do something special. Clueless what it'll be, but something anyway. 16. Hah.. I've been called a lot of things in my life - but modest?? I like snow and big *K*itties though, so that's alright. "That formation-stuff in freefall is just fun and games but with an open parachute it's starting to sound like, you know, an extreme sport." ~mom

  21. You got it! As to what defines a skydiver, I'm not sure. I finally got my A in the mail this week and am steadily progressing toward my B. Yet I'm still thinking of myself as a "student", not a skydiver. There is still so much to learn.. In my opinion, fulfilling a set of minimal requirements has got little to do with it. edited for clarity and grammar "That formation-stuff in freefall is just fun and games but with an open parachute it's starting to sound like, you know, an extreme sport." ~mom
  22. You talking BASE, or reserve openings? Cause maybe trying to land a canopy on rears at what might be the very first jump on that canopy while coming put of a very stressful situation is not the best idea? 23. I got these for two days straight monday and tuesday. But relating to your unique personal case, why would The System be any different from anyone else? 24. True. I don't play on partypoker, but on pokerstars.com there's also higher stakes tables. Get some play money on the low stakes (5K or more) and go to the high stakes table. People tend to play more serioulsy there. "That formation-stuff in freefall is just fun and games but with an open parachute it's starting to sound like, you know, an extreme sport." ~mom
  25. Sometimes not easy to do... Ya know the best part about dating homeless women is when the dates over, ya can drop 'em off ANYWHERE! If she's homeless - what can I say, sex in the park is great, you just have to be careful you don't get caught, which just adds to the fun. If she's still living with her parents, I see your point, though i never had the infamous "caught with your pats down"-experience. *knock on wood* The most awkward experience concerning parents I ever had is when I was too drunk to cycle home after a party and my friend decided to let me sleep over. The next day, or more accurately, later that morning I met her mom, who leered at us and started to make a lot of good-natured jokes with double meaning. When she found out that her daughter actually had put me in the guest room, she laughed at my friend, loud, hard and long.
