  1. I seen something similar: Girl I was...dating, had two cats who apparently were lord and master of the appartment. Not the TV, but the scratching pole was the central piece of furniture there. We'd been seeing each other for a while, byt he way, but this was the first time I went over to her place. The thing that disgusted me was not so much the kitchen counter being quite invisible under the dirty dishes, but the fact that she took one of her clean plates, proceeded to spoon cat food on it, and as soon as the cats were done feeding, she rinsed both plate and spoon off, dried them, and put them back between the clean dishes! That was when I decided to go away as far as I could, as fast as I could. I hope she'll never get pregnant.... 2. And then you have to dry most of them off too.. Glass and cutlery left to air dry just look nasty, IMO. Not much point in even having a dishwasher then. 3. It's not right either... It can barely feed me let alone my brother and parents too! We're all healthy eaters "That warm suit of yours makes you look like a sissy! .. .. .. No, thanks, it's too cold to skydive." "That formation-stuff in freefall is just fun and games but with an open parachute it's starting to sound like, you know, an extreme sport." ~mom
  4. Skydivers, even those posting in the Bonfire, are not insane, merely normal in a unique kind of way. "That formation-stuff in freefall is just fun and games but with an open parachute it's starting to sound like, you know, an extreme sport." ~mom
  5. Well.. I thought, a nice little inflammatory post to get the discussion going.. But maybe I'll practice "pretending to be nice" instead.. I seem to need aforementioned practice, if last weekend is any indication. So anyway.. Er, Hi. How are you guys? 6. crunch time? If that means that your visor is damaged, I can definitely see your point. EDIT: According to wikipedia it means something like "It's Showtime!" - so when it's time to execute ep's. I'm confused now. Anyway, one other thing I did is pratice ep's in freefall by looking at and touching both handles, which i repeated when i switched rigs. Nevertheless, dear OP, this is what I did, not what should be done. EDIT2: As always, pops, thanks for your thoughtful reply. You never say "STFU, you noob," you kindly explain why some viewpoints are incorrect. 7. According to the police I'm not allowed to - I lack the years in sport as well as the jump numbers "That formation-stuff in freefall is just fun and games but with an open parachute it's starting to sound like, you know, an extreme sport." ~mom
  8. Really? Why? (just curious) I wouldn't like to do a two-or-more-way with fellow A-licencees then - too much risk of a split lip while I'm desperately trying to turn points and flailing for stability...
  9. Why is it alright to say whore, but not "giggle-oh"? To the OP, I have nothing even remotely of value to add to this discussion. "That formation-stuff in freefall is just fun and games but with an open parachute it's starting to sound like, you know, an extreme sport." ~mom
  10. Great story, and congratulations both with your first jump and on deciding to go on to AFF. Believe you me, if you want it bad enough you will come up with the money somehow. Less delivery pizza, more delivering pizza, that sort of thing
  11. There's almost no way I could convince either of my parents, or any of my aunts, uncles or nephews to do a tandem short of getting my own tandem rating, but my brother went and did it ! I'm so proud of him..
  12. So the weather forecast didn't turn out to be so bad after all did it? What are you waiting for, tell us all about your experience! "That formation-stuff in freefall is just fun and games but with an open parachute it's starting to sound like, you know, an extreme sport." ~mom

Hmm.. I'm not sure that I understand the physics behind that comment. Care to demonstrate? I'll video it from a safe distance "That formation-stuff in freefall is just fun and games but with an open parachute it's starting to sound like, you know, an extreme sport." ~mom
  14. What; "the attractiveness of the person next to whom you wake up is inversely proportional to the alcohol-intake of the previous night"? "That formation-stuff in freefall is just fun and games but with an open parachute it's starting to sound like, you know, an extreme sport." ~mom

Yes, and one way or the other, there will be fried meat tonight. "That formation-stuff in freefall is just fun and games but with an open parachute it's starting to sound like, you know, an extreme sport." ~mom
  17. I got quoted! Yesssss! * Freeflyer about bellyflying: "Anxiously remaining ready to pull from exit on" * Bellyflyer about freeflying: A total lack of stability and calling it a discipline * Surely I'll reach the ground * La culture c'est come un parachute - te te n'as pas, tu t' ecrais (sp?) (Culture/good manners) are like a parachute - Y'aint got it, you (crash / STFU) * Most skydiving injuries occur during the landing. (well, they would, wouldn't they? Landing a baglock just can't be healthy..) "That formation-stuff in freefall is just fun and games but with an open parachute it's starting to sound like, you know, an extreme sport." ~mom
  18. No worries.. Many students I know, including myself, have difficulties with the practice ripcord pulls. It wasn't 'till my 11th jump that i made my first freefall, though I started prcps at #5.. Having a blast on every jump is more important than achieving a task in every jump "That formation-stuff in freefall is just fun and games but with an open parachute it's starting to sound like, you know, an extreme sport." ~mom
  19. Even the most sophisticated measuring apparatus has a detection limit - graduating off student status only at 91 jumps, and even then only while almost killing myself puts me waaaaay below it... 20. If you fall through the gaps between a lot of very small cumulus clouds, you still get cloud rush.. "That formation-stuff in freefall is just fun and games but with an open parachute it's starting to sound like, you know, an extreme sport." ~mom
  21. I'd rather have PM'd you this, but you cannot receive any Can't you at least put the guy in the right direction? 140 results for the exact phrase "laser eye surgery" is a lot to sift through, maybe you remember something of specific interest, like a thread or username to check out? 22. You're right, about the self restraint. Unfortunately some people will say things online they'd never say in "real life", resorting to foul language when their reasoning is proven flawed, or even when it's merely questioned. 23. I've heard it said that you know you're doing it right if both sides are angry with you. To Rhondalea: What then of an innocent newbies thread which degenerates in just another pissing contest? How does reading all that mud-flinging help anyone? (You don't know shit because you only have XX jumps and XX years in the sport! / I DO know what I'm talking about because..) It certainly doesn't answer the original question. Is "weighing everyones unmoderated opinion" more important than the original topic? For the record, I think this boards' mods are doing a great job. 24. OK, thanks guys. "That formation-stuff in freefall is just fun and games but with an open parachute it's starting to sound like, you know, an extreme sport." ~mom
  25. I have occasionally done some manifest duty, and several times I had to talk to concerned tandem passengers about the weather. All I can say is, if you're not going to the dropzone, you're definitely not going to jump. Call ahead; if they're still open that day, they probably expect that there might be some jumping, even if it's just a few loads between showers. When you get there, ask some random skydiver whether they maybe have a Great, Exciting or Scary Story for you. We all do, and we never get tired of telling them. If you also get to jump that day it's great - you might experience "cloud rush". If not, well, at least you had an entertaining day out.
