javelin1 replied to linebckr83's topic in Gear and Rigging
how many jumps on this 16 year old rig? sounds like maybe time to retire it, what other problems may be lurking beneath the surface that you cant readily see with the naked eye? -
there was an rw pc but i think (not sure) that it was made of 1.5 oz ripstop .around 1973 or so.

your only option is to kill somebody?? sounds like you need anger management, dude. -
what part didnt you understand? the original post was about finding a hot air balloon pilot who would fly jumpers.but somehow this thread has degenerated into i paid this or i paid that for MY balloon jump.i was simply warning the poster about one of the hot air balloon operators in his local area who is a complete and total **.best to avoid the guy at all costs.

stay away from "black tie" balloon in vincentown area. . the guy had parachute equipment corp (in vincentown at the time) repair his envelope. pec hunted down the fabric and did a really nice decent repair . when the guy came and picked it up he found out the bill was like $75 or something(which isnt really bad ) .he got miffed and tossed a 20 at warrem eichhorn and split. some months later, one of his employees took the chase van (with the balloon and basket ) home with him and put it in the garage. about 1/2 hr later said employee was smelling propane, and opened the garage door....KABLEWY!!! instant ignition. blew the shit out of his house, van and balloon.serves the a.hole right!

Oldest sport reserve still in production?
javelin1 replied to riggerrob's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Security may have well made the first sport reserve parachute, but the question was which one is still in production. security ceased production around 1984 or so,over 20 years ago! -

this is easy... if you have any kids hanging around the dz have them chase your stuff down. give them a reward when it gets returned. great character builder.

there is a reason why there are weight limitations on gear. HEED THEM

actually the chassis are made of chromoly steel, NOT aluminum and titanium. but wouldnt have made a difference. the throttle was hung wide open and made the crash that much worse.with the energy involved in the sudden deceleration when he hit the pole, he probably died instantly, at least i hope so. a friend of mine is working with "Nitro Nick " Boninfante on some new , parachute technology that would have had a better chance of surviving the explosion&fire.interestingly enough, the 2 of them had produced some modifications to the existing drag chute configurations (some 17 years ago) that could have altered the outcome of this unfortunate accident. NHRA (at the time)basically told them to go fuck themselves...........
