I was the first one there(at 7:30 am on a saturday morning)...in anticipation of my first aff jump and from the time i got there till the time i left i felt welcome. I met a bunch of new faces tonight....i want to thank the Palatka DZ for making my level 1 an enjoyable experiance....and i think i have found my new home when im not at work on the weekends! I did my first AFF skydive today and i passed! im an now a level 2 student. We got cut short on the exit altitude. We were supposed to jump at 13,500 feet....but due to the cloud cover only were able to jump at 9,500 feet. But i still passed. I didnt do any of the practice pulls due to the limited time...but i maintained altitude awareness and pulled my own parachute on the first try( my hand went DIRECTLY to the pilot chute hackey to deploy it...i didnt have to search for it...textbook deployment)...COMPLETELY UNASSISTED by the instructors and piloted my own canopy to a decent landing being that it was my first solo jump (Canopy deployment was quicker than i had anticipated...as the slider was directly above my head after counting to three!!!) Exit from the plane was pretty damn good...had a littel trouble wiht my leg position but corrected that..so it was all good. Level 2 here i come!!!!!!!!!!!! I started my AFF here yesterday and not once did i feel uncomfortable all day while familurizing myself with the dz and the people. The instructors were very informative and made it easy for me to understand the FJC material! This is my new "home" dz and i would reccomend it to anyone that might be in the area!

hahaha..ive never actually witnessed him jump personally...but if anyone has videos of him doing training jumps i would LOVE to see them..and yeah its pretty shitty that he is leaving. Part of the military lifestyle though. I went through it..it blows. But yeah..by the time he gets back i hope to be caught up to him in jumps! People that dont/never had sjydived before most commonly think that all skydivers are crazy. Most ask why they do it. we give them reason and they think we bullshit. Saying we are crazy and suicidal blah blah blah. Your parents are thinking of that same path. they will never understand it...as well as others that have never done it..unless they do it. You are 19 years old..and we dont know your current living situation but leagally you are an adult and fully capable of making your own decisions. if you can pay for it yourself...there shouldnt be a problem. Im kinda almost int he same situation. Im in the military....so think of the military as my "parents" so to speak. They know im doing it(i start aff tomorrow), they think im crazy and they dont want me to do it(something like im too valuable at work to lose me to an outside the navy accident...blah blah blah). Do you think that is stopping me? Fuck no. Everyone at Skyive Palatka will be seeing my ass there at 9am in the morning ready to start my ground school. The military cant stop me from doing something that i love to do..and if your parents really loved you they SHOULD support you in anything you want to do. Like someone stated above....you only have ONE life..and its YOUR'S..not THEIRS. Dont let them stop you in doing something that you want to do. Life is to short to let things jsut go by. Just to add -- same goes for all those little mesh stickers and similar devices that claim to "reduce or eliminate harmful radiation". I guess most people finally realized what crap that is, so these things became almost extinct now. It was amazing how many ads for them I saw just a couple of years ago... Yeah i got one of them too in the whole package i ordered for the phone. That went into the trash...lol. The only reason i didnt take booster antenna off is fear of ripping of the HEX number. Come to Florida. I put a post up here like a week or so ago letting everyone here know that my apartment is open to any skydiver that wants to come down here to jump due to the weather conditions up north. Offer still stands. We move into it in 2 weeks. lol..yeah. what people dont realise is...he bought the boat for 10,000 and bought a truck to haul the boat for another 7000..and in 4 months(before yesterday) there has only been 4 fish caught. Then...yesterday....in about an hours time...i caught mine and he caught his....so it was a damn good day..compared to the last 4 months! For the first time in 4 months one of my best friends and i had a pretty good day of fishing. Highlight would be him cathing about a 2 foot shark. I know 2 feet isnt that big for a shark...but we werent in the ocean!!!!! i caught 3 trout and a catty...and he caught 4 trout and a catty. pretty good day...and lots of beer!! My brother is helping be piece together a rig. Im new to the sport as i start AFF next saturday(6th) but the colors are my last concern. question about cutting away. when you cut away a main..is that canopy no longer usable? i didnt want to start a new thread as it does somwhat pertain to the thread topic. Im jsut curious.
