parchutes des france - wheres my bloody rig
crashtested replied to crashtested's topic in Gear and Rigging
I think my OP has been slighty misunderstood. I am actually intrested in finding out if anyone knows what the delay time is not in slating PDF... the heading where is m y bloody rig.. is meant to be using bloody in the english sense of the word, as in not agressive but comic. If i was really upset or angry at them do you think the biscuit comment on the end would have been put in. I understand there are time scopes on rigs, but as someone rightly said that rigs can be made in 8 weeks, if the delay was going to be a year or 2 years than i think it would be great to know!! I have not intentionally slated the company, the reason i chose them was becasue of the quality of the rigs. if that takes along time then so be it. What is a bugger however. is there seems to be no way of contacting the company directly, no website or posted number anywhere? As you rightly said i should contact my distribitor directly (which i have) as they sold me the rig.. but i think as they are not making these things i would get a straighter awnser from the guys actually making it. I realise these are small companys, but they are charging big money for these things. We have all these wonderful communications devices availible to us.. telephone, mobile, email. use them and let your customers know what is going on, if there is a delay for whatever reason, just let us know. we understand, we don't want you to bosh somthing out, which is crappy, take you time. but let us know. I agree when K Krew said they are making equipment which saves are skins when we are messing with the reaper. but do read the op, as at no point was i slagging PDF off, just looking for a way of contacting them. Also K Krew if this was your money and you were a noob in the sport, and your distributor did not give you a awnser what would you have done.. just kept quiet and hoped for the best, or put a post on here to try and find a way of finding out for yourself?? -
Good point well made....

Just so you know the shagging part was me being ironic.. (or was that iconic) I am a hero but that has nothing to do with skydiving (still ironic) I was talking to a v good formation jumper today about my wind tunnel lesson in sharper flying. why when i jump normally do i not notice body movement change, as in fall rate or tunrs etc We think that when i jump with him or other good jumpers they make the small corrections instincively so i don't have too?? making me look better than i am? No one likes to look bad though, learning over again is not an easy thing to do!

parchutes des france - wheres my bloody rig
crashtested replied to crashtested's topic in Gear and Rigging
I would not expect people who only had 330 jumps calling me a noob. And some1 who may work for the company, letting me know what is going on... There website has not worked for months, they have changed factory address and telephone number. What would be useful if i could get a contact number with out some knober giving me shit about posting a thread when i have spent the best part of all my earnings on buying something. But thats just by opinion! -

Seriously does anyone have a clue on when my rig is going to arrive, I ordered it 3 - 4 months ago, and it still is in the land of the fiarys. where things like this are made??? I have emailed the shop where it was ordered, and have been told that some of the orders have been processed but due to the special offer they were doing on them (free main with complete Package) That they have now put themselves in the preverbial shite again, ad can't make them all. Was not the reason for them doing the offer to give people faith in the production time?? If anyone has any info or works for them and knows the time spans now involved could let us know.. that would get you a biscuit.. -
Its all true..... But i want to use skydiving as a tool to progress, be it slowly or fast. maybe my form will be a little crappy But i entered this sport to skydive, I love the canopy, feel the best rush in the world in freefall, enjoy being with my friends at the dz, and love shagging aff, raps, and tandem students. I don't get the same satisfaction at the tunnel.. maybe there are just not enough girls hanging around looking for a hero!! But each to there own, i think the tunnel is a great tool for those who really want to progress or who can't get somthing right in the sky. for me i've all the time in the world!

Experiance of a wind tunnel

After slagging off wind tunnels 2 weeks ago, due to me thinking they were taking away money from DZ's, and not promoting the sport of skydiving, but promoting some sort of hybrid freak. somone challanged me to give it ago and see if it changed my feeling on it. So i turned up at airkix on wednesday handed over £120, and waited for 10 minutes of flight time!!1 YEAHHHHHH!!!! Everyone was super friendly there, the instuctor i had was cool, there was a slight hic up at the begining where i thought i would be able to practice sitflying, (i'm going for FS2) in a controlled area, unfortuntly you have to learn backfly first, but no backfly untill you prove you are stable in the tunnel? which i was not.. very strange seeing how bad a skydiver i am So i spent 4 x 2 mins getting my body shape back to how it should be, and 2 x mins just messing around with my new uber controlled skillz. I did find it frustrating how quickly the time went. and what i actuall acomplished.. Its great that i now fall more symetrically, and sure i am safer and better in the air, but my lord was it boaring, i felt like a caged hummingbird!! If i go back i then have to spend the time on my back hovering above the net for another £120 + and then maybe another £200 - £300 getting sit fly. I walked away feeling lighter of money, and unsatisfied in any way, 1 hour of my time £120 of my money, vanished, deverstating. Sooo the chalange was taken.. and I still don't get it. Just seems like a quick way to burn a shite load of money!! And the atmosphere was blindingly sterile.. kind of like it was owned by the goverment?? The skills of the instrucotrs though were amazing.. 55 real jumps and owning 4 dimensions!! gutting to watch I think my money will safely stay in my DZ's zone for ever more

Full face Camera helmet - Legend or fact
crashtested replied to crashtested's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Again, there will be a cookie sent out for the best awnser!! Do they make helmets like this anymore.... i have looked and looked and.... you get the idea. no one i know has ever seen one or jumped with them, but i heard a rumour that they were some around still. Have these been banned, and if so for what reason. As i say a cookie will be sent out, choc chip or regular!! -
Let's frame this on topic. If proper gear could make it possible to survive sudden impact at 100mph, then Jeb wouldn't need $4M to land his wingsuit without a parachute. His vertical speed is far lower than 100. Smaller women could belly land without even using the wingsuit. Jeb does not need $4m to land his wingsuite. he needs maybe $50 000. the other 3.95 million is for him and his mates to party with, once he is in peices. or pulls 60ft above the ground, and calls it off minus the $4m. The whole point of the thread is whether Impact gear can help in case of a crash... I agree worst case senario.. in full flight tilted 90 degrees towards the earth there aint a lot that will save you... But the point of the thread was wether if tilted at say 60 degrees impact gear could save injuries....

Sorry i did not know you were there at the time.. Were you the big skeletal figure carrying a large scythe dressed in black, I have'nt seen you in months. good to hear from you. I did stop pretty quickly maybe 50 - 60 M.. I did just walk away.... I did not break anything.... You know what I don't mind if you wear the gear or not... maybe you don't wear a Helmet whilst skydiving.. maybe you don't wear leathers whilst motorcycling. The fact of it is, Impact clothing has the clue in the name.. your right at 75mph straight into the ground it won't do a lot, 35mph though it may save you from spliiting your spleen, and in a rough ride across the ground after tripping whilst hammering in it'll save your bits, or act as a handy splint / compression kit untill the paramedics arrive..

I disagree!! Merry christmas though :)

I've seen many kinds of skydiving injuries. I base my opinion on skydiving facts/events. How about your personal experiences? Tell us about femur breaks? Head injuries? Frame strikes? Tib/fib? What have you seen? i don't have a lot of skydving experiance granted but a lot of snowboarding during the early days 15 years or more ago there were a lot of injuriesl i have broken L + R tibila and fibula, 1 ulna 2 radius 1 humourous, compact spine injury, and broken a few metecsatlesI also had a masive head injury which caused short term neuro dammage. Most of these could have been avoided by using correct clothing, of which when i first started there was none, this was becasue everyone laughed off the idea of wearing impact protection and crash helmets as somthing "snowboarders" did not need, was not cool, only noobs fall, etc etc... impact with trees, and rocks will always batter you but again vital organs are now protected by good gear, spine protection is used to keep us walking. coxis stay intact, helmets are there to stop you being knocked out!! and to stop massive head trauma. In videos we see of swooping gone wrong, you can see latrel impact onto the spine head and neck. I'm sure 99% of them walk away, but how about the poor guy left in a wheel chair for the rest of his life, or one of your skydiving buddys with loads of metal in them, its the same crappy attitude that boarders had in snowboarding. A few countrys still don't require skydivers to wear crash helmets, i know of 3 people who have had a smack around the head during an exit, yet did fine as it afforded some protection. People post the same information and you aren't grasping it. I read all the comments, and it leaves me frustrated when people become sarcastic and unhelpful to new skydivers who are trying to get info on what may protect them a little more, or save there lives, you may not give a toss about yourself and the health of your body, but smart arse comments don't help. I know I take comments by others to seriously on this site. But this time messing with peoples health has sunk the forums to a new low!!!

Maybe you guys could just work on your swooping skills a little more. ... and if noobs like us want to have a disscusion about the use of body armour and whether it could be used, try not being such a bunch of dicks and put down every idea with a know it all attitude... explain why, how, what, where... For your info i have come off a bike at 100mph plus,, it really hurts, both the original fall and the sliding and the sudden stop on the central reservation. NO breaks, a lot of bruises.. the impact clothing i was wearing took a lot of the hit, it was shreaded to peices in the slide.. but a walk away none the less. but hey if you don't want any advice because you have 100 's or 1000's of jumps and know best (bullshit) than thats your call. You probally complained when the cypress was first discussed

Wing tunnels, The BPA = Goodbye 2 skydiving
crashtested replied to crashtested's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
TBH i did not really have an agenda when entering the sport, I m as your rightly pointed out a bit of a purist with the sports i entered. I objected to the introducion of jetskis in surfing as it destroyed my philosiphy of the sport. Don't get me wrong seeing the Big boys charging down 60ft face waves is pretty cool, but maybe they should learn how to paddle faster!!! its been a good thread though, and its good to see other peoples points of veiws, I'm going to give bedford wind tunnel a shot, one evening and will, add a thread about how i felt it went, atmosphere and the whole experiance. As a final point of consideration, how many accidents this year, were related to free fall, and how many were related to canopy piloting? It makes you wonder if wind tunnel is the extra training everyone needs!!! -
So i guess the moral of the thread is... no one can survive from a broken heart Mulitple breaks, broken backs, ruptured lungs, internal bleeding, stress fractures, dislacations, compound fractues, and small cuts can all be reduced by wearing the apropriate impact clothing!! The're not called "impact shorts" for nothing... other wise they'd be called expensive "shorts"

I tried attaching a bag of soup to a frisbee yesterday, and launching it down the rd whilst driving at 40 miles per hour. Despite the good time had by all, it occured to me that this has nothing to do with the thread!!!! In actual fact all i was testing was the durability of soup packets whilst attached to frisbees @ 40mph!! Thanks for wasting my day!!!!

There was a design like this made for both back country snowboarding (avalanche risk) and for motorbikes, some of the funniest things i have seen, the main problem with the bike bags, was it was very much like a skidoo when you came off it automaticly fired, slightly embarresing when you where just stepping off your bike normally and had forgotten to disconnect the thing To be honest parachute rigs are pretty reliable these days, most accidents i have read of are due to bad judgement calls, Swooping, or bad maintinance of equipment. very very rare to have a parachute which won't get you down alive!!!
