...................................................................... How could this possibly be knowable by anyone except the instructor? Even then really. ............................................................................... Mr. Quade, Please go back and watch the original video. The original video shows her firing the first shot. Then you see the instructor reaching for the selector switch. You hear the selector switch "click!" The instructor says "full auto." The video concludes with a bullet in his head. An obvious sequence to an experienced observer, shooter, listener, etc. Anyone who has handled an Uzi knows that if you "click" the selector switch from "1" it can only go two places. Either the selector switch goes to "full auto" or it goes to "silent."

Ah, kind of like the old Toys for Tatas back home... a little Christmas cheer... ................................................................................ That sounds like strippers for charity. If the audience does not donate enough money, quick enough, they march out the wrinkly, saggy, old crack whore who should have retired last year! Hah! Hah!

***Hmmm I might have some in my closet somewhere ..... ..................................................................................... May be what is in your closet should best remain in your closet. Maybe there are some aspects of your sex life that the rest of us do not want to hear about! Hah! Hah!

Try to look at this from the legislator's perspective. If the legislator is bright enough to enact preventative laws before an accident, then his ass is covered. If some fool ignores the regulation when he hurts himself, the legislator's ass is covered. The legislator gets re-elected and everybody is happy.

............................................................................... Kids see hundreds of people shot every week on TV and movies. Next week they see the same actor running around in another movie. What is the fuss? TV and other media do not teach kids the FINALITY of shooting people.
-
Usually, the under twelve crowd prefers shooting younger siblings or neighbors kids. ...................................................................................... Some of those little shits deserve to be shot for the cruel ways they treated the shooter yesterday. However, adults are supposed to limit children's, risks until they mature enough to make mature decisions with dangerous toys like guns, drugs, alcohol, parachutes, motor vehicles, etc.

Pure luck that the father did not get shot in the head. Better management would have shooting instructors taught how to "shadow" students similar to the ways that skydiving instructors "shadow" (S/L, IAD and FF) students close to the airplane door. A good shooting instructor should be able to grab the gun before it aims at him. The best instructors use their superior judgement to avoid situations where they need superior reflexes to prevent accidents (e.g. allowing girls to fire a automatic weapons when they lack the muscle to keep them pointed at the target).

Height is going to be a poor measure - more about grip strength. ........................................................................................... Good point! Maybe the kid should be forced to carry the (unloaded) machine gun from the front desk to the firing line. A similar test would require them to carry an ammo can - containing a full belt - from the front desk to the firing line. If they cannot carry a 22 pound (10 kilogram) ammo belt, they are advised to go to the gym and lift weights until they are strong enough to return to the shooting range.

And I agree. However, according to what I heard on the radio, he did not give it to her in full auto mode. She, apparently, inadvertently switched it over & then started firing. JerryBaumchen ................................................................................. Sounds like your local radio station F.........d up their report. Shock! Horror! Outrage! Has a local radio station ever I inaccurately reported a parachute/airplane/train/boating accident?

It's a proper noun, so you should. It's also a brand name. If you just want to talk about generic high potency distilled spirits, you should use another word. .......................................................................... Commercial "Everclear" equals homemade: moonshine, white lightning, caribou, screech, etc.

Don't feel bad. I sewed and jumped (hundreds of times) a couple of kit parachutes long before I even heard the term Aspergers. When I was in my fifties, my sister suggested that I might be some degree of high-functioning autistic. My biggest variable is how much sleep I have gotten during the last week.

........................................................................................ Agreed The only time I have flown formations in Cessnas was when we were trying to build ten-way formations.

First, stop the freefall. Then at least you'll be alive to sort the other stuff out.

Salt water powered car given licence for road testing
riggerrob replied to rifleman's topic in The Bonfire
You can download the full press kit from their website. They are rather nebulous about which 'electrolyte solutions' are used. One is probably salt water, the other is ???? .................................................................................... If you pour enough extra chemicals into any liquid (e.g. salt water) you can convert it into battery electrolyte or a flammable liquid. -

.................................................................................... Agreed! That is the marketing cluster-fuck. The inexpensive 4-door sedan is still too expensive for the people who need it the most: working-poor. OTOH the people who are most likely to buy first-generation "green" cars are wealthy people (who already own two or three cars) and want a flashy, look at me look at me" car to show off how "green" they are. I agree that is a perverse logic. -

Sounds like cold fusion. I've got enough chemistry background to opine that there's no potential energy in salt water that can drive a car 240 mph. I smell something fishy. ............................................................................... If enough rotten fish decompose at a rapid enough rate, then maybe the smell will repel enough people that they will push the stinky car out of town. Talk about a cheap home bound commute! Hah! Hah! -
Why did they buy mains so tiny that un-flared landings might kill them?

Intentional Cutaway Desired - Raven Micro 150 Concerns
riggerrob replied to mdrejhon's topic in Safety and Training
.................................................................................... So now he is looking for a " cheap brand abc reserve?" Why is he using the words "cheap" and " reserve" in the same sentence? Has he ever compared the cost of an ambulance ride with the cost of a reserve canopy ??????????? -
The stock MIL SPEC 4- line release was similar to the Waters 4-line release. Butler also built Waters 4-line release kits for many years, but only for PEP. The last fifty-or- so new production C-9 s I packed came stock from the factory with Waters 4- line release system. You just pulled red loops of suspension lines until the daisy- chains released , then the red loops became steering loops. Pretty simply for the user. There was a competing system that depended on metal pip pins to release those four drive lines, then had an annoying habit of jamming when you only pulled them halfway out, so never proved as popular as the Waters 4- line release system .

First time I have heard of dropping tandems from planes flying in formation .......... But I have only been doing tandems for 30 years. First, formation flying slows down the entire DZ because you have to wait for the second batch of students to sign waivers, pay, train, dress, send selfies, walk to the plane, board the second plane, start the second plane, etc. It is far more efficient to quit wasting time waiting for the second plane because turning a profit while turning tandems is all about turning students as quickly as possible. OTOH What advantage did the pilot see to flying Cessnas in formation?

Hypothetical modern rigger lands in Buffalo,NY 70 years ago
riggerrob replied to riggerrob's topic in The Bonfire
What if the modern rigger tired of hand-sewing brass cones onto containers? What if he/she ran out of brass cones the day before a major order was due to ship? What if he/she substituted gutted 550 cord? What if the substitution was not discovered until the parachutes were due for (delayed due to enemy action) on an aircraft carrier in the middle of the Pacific Ocean? -

What if the modern rigger tried to convince a Buffalo mattress maker to wind spiral springs for pilot-chutes?
