Just picked up a NEW EOS Rebel XSi SLR Digital Camera Kit (Black) with 18-55mm IS Lens & Canon 55-250mm IS Lens from B&H for $695 with free ground shipping. It seems like a pricing error since I couldn't find it anywhere (reputable) for close to that price. (I was originally going to buy the XS with both of these lenses from Abes for $748). To get the deal list all Canon DSLR cameras, scroll down to the XSi and click "View Available Kits " The first one includes the camera body and both lenses with a price of $999.98 with instant rebate of $200. The next line shows me "After Rebate $694.95" You have to add the item to the cart from the pop-up window to get the price. If you add to cart from anywhere else it totals $799.98. The site is curently not accepting orders until Sat 11/14/09 at 6pm. Hopefully they will still have this available for any of you who want to pick one up. I have tried it all (short of duct taping the bag closed) and this canopy provides near instantaneous openings at terminal with great predictability. If you do slow the openings down it develops unpredictable off heading openings. Once you survive the opening this canopy is fun, fun, fun with awesome landings and surfs like crazy without and radical approach set-ups. If I could just slow the opening speed I would love it.

Rob, My friend on the Earth, in the sky and my brother from another mother. I will always remember the times we have shared, from the craziest of the crazy on the ground to the best of the best in the air. I have so many memories starting from the first time I met Steve's new roommate. That dude was crazy. The trip and near move to San Diego. Camping trips. Air Shows. Wild parties. Bad mistakes. Terrible hangovers. Our first trip to Skydive AZ in Coolidge and looking back at you as I climbed out on that strut for the first time. Watching you make that near perfect stand-up landing on jump #1. Returning a week later to make jumps 2,3 and 4. Planning our 1st BASE jump in a chemical stupor (sure let's jump Angel Falls on 6-6-6). Progressing through to 2-ways, 3-ways, 4-ways. You letting me fly close enough to rub end cells even though you hated the thought of me doing that crazy CRW shit. Partying in the DC-3 afterhours and taking midnight beacon rides. Making the first loads and sunset loads and every load we could in between. Then throwing the last log on the fire as the sun came up over Eloy. The smile on your face on your midnight New Year's Eve night jump. Thank you for always taking me under your wing after my ridiculous layoffs. Thank you for the 20 point 2 ways for re currency dives. Thank you for getting the CRW guy on big ways (well big for the CRW guy anyway), my Falcon, Eagle, and the wind-tunnel flights. The list goes on and on. I just can't believe our time spent together has come to a sudden end. I will miss you, brother, till the end of my days. I will always think of you as I look to the sky and watch the birds soar on the wind. Blue Skies, I love you brother, Rick Blue Skies, Soft Docks and Happy Landings! Condolences - Paul Joseph - AKA darnknit and crwpj
Zymurdoo replied to Tonto's topic in Blue Skies - In Memory Of
Paul, My friend, my brother. Since our time together, way back in the mid-nineties, I have often thought of you and your antics. The stories here have reinforced my memories. After playing around with some close canopy flying, I recall my first two-stack, with you. That jump was only the beginning of a multi-year ride of weekends living in the old RV at Eloy. Sunrise flights in the Cessna & bumpy randoms in the afternoon. Side-by-sides & downplanes. You standing on my shoulder as we deployed (I can't count how many times that happened). Landing that diamond in the peas with Kevin and Chris. Wrapping up our days watching landings from our place sharing some green bottles (not that Samual Adams 99 cent a case piss beer). The hugs and tears when you thought it was me who had hooked it in. Spiraling our two-stack through that killer cumulonimbus cloud. All of those out landings with the long walks through the desert (damn headwinds). Lineburns on our fingers and shoes (your multicolored Converse All-stars). Singing songs & "soothing" tandem students on the way to altitude. Dancing around the May pole & the Easter Bunny Chocolate CRW thing. Frayed Knot and the Golden Knights (Frayed Knights) at the Nationals. Kevin top-docking you and your "graceful" landing while you were wrapped (wasn't that the first round?). Nearly the same thing happening at Perris and landing in the middle of town (thank god for that vacant lot). Packing for you in the hallway of the hotel @ 2 AM after several hundred miles and a cooler full of beers. Our two-stack into downtown Phoenix on 4th of July (crazy sh*t that one). As I type this, the memories just keep flooding back. Like when you recited this during my first team jump: SKYLAR BUZZ On this day in '62, Skylar Buzz invented CReW. PC Downplane, Hook to Roo, I cut away and Skylar should have too. At 50 feet he was heard to shout, "No problem! Don't worry! I can get out!" But alas he was wrong on that fateful day, as he hit the ground, the crowd turned away. The Earth did heave with a mighty quake. A wet thud resounded with Skylar's mistake. He's buryed here on this hallowed ground, on the very spot where his body was found. So remember my children when you're doing CRW, the spirit of Skylar flies with you. Your spirit will also fly with me, Paul. I will miss you and your wit. You have touched many during your short ride in this world.
