I have some experience with Ray Kubiak and Jim Stengell. Ray instructs instructors and coaches all disciplines and levels. Jim is an awesome coach but I am not sure if he coaches head down. I can highly recommend either. Blue Skies, Soft Docks and Happy Landings! CWR #23 (It's called CRW, add an e if you like, but I ain't calling it CFS. FU FAI!)

I just read an online article profiling Vince Vaughn's tandem jump with the Golden Knights at the Air and Water Show on Lake Michigan. He looks really comfortable in this photo.. FYI - When booking tunnel time in Eloy, if you book the time through a coach, rather than through Skyventure, you will get the hourly rate even if you book 10 or 15 mins. Coaches generally charge $200/hour for coaching. Skyventure AZ has a list of coaches that work for them on their website and most have email addresses to contact them directly. http://www.skyventureaz.com/Staff/Default.aspx Blue Skies and Happy Tunneling, Rick Blue Skies, Soft Docks and Happy Landings! Awesome! Congrats to both. Zane it is always nice to see you getting up in the sky. I had been hoping to make it down to do a few flights but it didn't work out. See everyone at Eloy soon (after Lost Prairie that is). Blue Skies, Soft Docks and Happy Landings! CWR #23 (It's called CRW, add an e if you like, but I ain't calling it CFS. FU FAI!)

EFS4LIFE, I wasn't trying to imply that you or anyone here made hook turns. I was trying to speak to the whole audience reading this thread. Over the years I have watched the transition to smaller and faster. I have seen near horizontal impacts on big 7 cells as well as people shooting conservative landings on tiny cross-braced, airlocked modern canopies. My point is it is important to explore the full range of whatever canopy they choose to jump. I have limited (read zero) experience with the Stiletto (or any elliptical for that matter). I do however have multi-hundred jumps exploring the full range of the canopies that I have jumped. I currently jump a rather large (by today's standards) 7 cell and can sink in an accuracy landing or surf it the length of a football field if I "hook it" just right. My scariest experience was overshooting the landing area at Eloy on a super sporty F111 PD 220 9 cell and striking my chest on a telephone pole (See pic) with enough force to knock the pole off it's supports and the breath out of me. I see most new jumpers trying to advance way too fast in every aspect of this sport. Adding elliptical canopies to the student progression IMH(but accurate)O just isn't a good thing. I think I read every post in this thread and (unless I missed it) didn't see one person bring up the topic of "Can you put your canopy down in a tight landing area following a bad spot?" What if that tight landing area is a postage stamp sized lot with powerlines on one side and surrounded by three 6 foot block walls in you direction of travel? Compound that with having 3-7 others on the load shooting for the same LZ. Happened to me in Perris. I hear jumpers of all experience levels raving about the surf and tippy toe landing that XYZ canopy gives them. But not every landing will afford you the luxury of a nice long runway to finish your swoop. Better find out if that "perfect canopy" can be dropped straight in just in case you ever need it. end rant edited because eye kan't speel two gould. Blue Skies, Soft Docks and Happy Landings! Check out Sandy Reid's pack volume chart at the Rigging Innovations webpage. He found long ago that there can be huge variances in pack volumes of canopies with the same advertised size. http://www.rigginginnovations.com/forms-docs/documents/pia%20volume%2006-09.pdf Blue Skies, Soft Docks and Happy Landings! Wow, really. My rigger as well as other instructors taught me how to do this when I was on student status. I also learned how to do a line check too. Thanks Poor Old Rigger Bob and all the others that have saved me "three hours" every time I had to reassemble my rig.

I know, but giving up beer is like giving up puffies and rodeos. and beer makes those belly jumps easier, too. Blue Skies, Soft Docks and Happy Landings! CWR #23 (It's called CRW, add an e if you like, but I ain't calling it CFS. FU FAI!)

It's super official. I have all of my requested days off so we can leave a week early. Wahoo! Now we can take our time and check out some sights on our way to LP. Anyone from one of the big Utah DZs planning on heading up? We are thinking of trying to hit up one or both of the turbine DZs and the tunnel in one direction or the other. Arizona has Open Range laws. Dogs = dog owner's responsibility. Cow = Driver pays for cow at full expected slaughter weight and possibly more. I have heard of the rancher being paid for future unborn calves. Blue Skies, Soft Docks and Happy Landings! CWR #23 (It's called CRW, add an e if you like, but I ain't calling it CFS. FU FAI!) -

guppie01, you modified an old list, at least I hope not that many have dropped off recently. Here's what I think is the correct list. Bob Hey you booted me and Mrs. Zymurdoo off the list. While researching corporate sponsorship for a fund raising event I found this web page. http://www.sponsoraskydive.com/ Check it out and weigh in with your thoughts. excellent policy I love signs "Tips are not expected, but appreciated" well, that's a lie since they posted the sign in the first place Spotted on the back wall in the training area of my local DZ... My first new canopy was a PD-210 F-111 9 Cell followed by a PD-190. Canopies in the 90's opened somewhat brisker than the "snively" canopies made today. After several years away from the sport, the first openings I had would have been considered malfunctions back in the day. http://www.performancedesigns.com/ninecell.asp From the PD Website... Funny how they don't have a link on their home page or pricing for it. Blue Skies, Soft Docks and Happy Landings! CWR #23 (It's called CRW, add an e if you like, but I ain't calling it CFS. FU FAI!)
