Yeah but... 100 years ago it would have been common practice to describe most newly married couples as "gay". Words change meaning, huh? Indeed, but the accepted way is by evolution of the language, not hijacking of the language. Marriage has been redefined in the past. Its time to redefine it again.

Think it will shame the religious zealots?
JohnnyD replied to diablopilot's topic in Speakers Corner
Do unto others as you would have them do to you. That's probably one of the foundations of your religious beliefs. Hope that works for you. -
LOL! According to this article, the event came together Friday and the boy got to watch video of the sammiches being handed out Monday. Still, it's about as great an example as I've seen of someone making the best of one wish, and in honor of that, I'll happily run some sammiches by our local homeless shelter. Blues, Dave Oh sure, call me out on the whole reading thing.

Im 16 And I Want To Jump...
JohnnyD replied to Da_SKiES_R_BLu's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
What dz is this supposed to happen at? There isn't one in CO that lets minors jump that I know of. -
Shoot, I wasn't very clear. There were two main points: 1. If there is a cure for cancer it would not be made public. 2. With the resources we have, there should be a cure. I was saying: 1. What would possibly lead someone to believe this 2. What would possibly lead someone to believe this

DAVE!!! Make some sammiches for the boy!!
-
Thats just my opinion. With the technology we have now, i refuse to believe that we cant find a cure for cancer or anything that comes relatively close. I'll probably regret this, but what would lead you to believe that?

But what did you think about the message of the speech? -
What? Wait, are you.... Forget it, I'll just go smash my forehead into something instead.

Pres and VP of that orgainzation are lawyers. Chairman is a musician. Stated objective: " a repeal of the Kefauver Amendment of 1962 that gave the FDA expanded authority over drug "efficacy" Seriously, you really think the eradication of cancer has already been discovered? Cancer comes in many forms. That is why treatment for some cancers differs from others. That is why some cancers are curable, some can be put into remission, and some are not even treatable. btw - efficacy means the drug actually works.

Fedor is under contract with Affliction, not ProElite. I don't think we will ever see this fight happen now that Randy has renewed with Zuffa.

I read that you said this about Obama: "he has made to many statements against this country". You have yet to provide a single example of this. Its not so much that people can't read, but when a person makes such serious accusations without a single shred of proof they appear to be blinded by things such as racial intolerance or religious persecution or fear.

I disagree, but assuming you're correct anyhow, I can only point at the fact that for the last 8 years we've been lead by a "uniter, not a divider". Blues, Dave A white male christian fundamentalist will lead America down the path chad thinks is correct. A black male christian will cause the flag to go upside down. Says a lot.

Can you expand on what you consider those to be? And tell me how many decades we'd have to go back to find them in either of the big political parties? Blues, Dave Great question. I think of conservative principles in two ways: 1. Small gov't, financial responsibility 2. Religious values and possible legislation of same. I agree completely with #1, but the GOP has apparently abandoned these principles. I disagree completely with #2, but the GOP seems to be steadfast in its commitment to legislate my life choices. I'd been a republican for a long time, but during the 42nd and 43rd presidencies, it seems that the parties platforms have been traded off.

Wouldn't you agree that he deserves some respect for handling Heath?

I know its knit-picky, but I can't reconcile in my own mind how someone could put their very life on the line for America's citizens and yet be against universal healthcare. It just doesn't make sense to me.

How much (more) damage can Bush et al. do ..
JohnnyD replied to shropshire's topic in Speakers Corner
Other than pardoning Scooter Libby (who should be shot imo), I think Bush will make every effort for as smooth a transition as possible. I remember that he was complaining up and down about Clinton's lack of assistance and the practical jokes the outgoing staff was pulling. -
Marine Corps Ball Navy Ball Never heard of a Navy/Marine Corps Ball and under what circumstances would you be invited?

Could you please explain the relevance of 10th Nov... for a thick Brit? Marine Corps Birthday.

Chad - If you are truly in fear of immediate danger of your life and property, I would gladly come to your house to provide protection and chip in to ensure that you can get your family somewhere safe. If not, I would very gladly help you correctly display the symbol of freedom that I have fought for and some of my friends and family have died for. Fly it proudly. Do not turn it into a symbol of your political views. Find something else for that. Burn a lifesized Obama doll in your driveway everyday if you like, but think about the sacrifices made on the behalf of you and your family before you desecrate that which some hold sacred. JohnRich - 10 November is just a few days away. Renew yourself. If you really think America has ended, lock, load and get to work. Of all people who would post something like that, I would least expect it from someone who has served America proudly.

They get busted on state laws. Its been decriminalized on a local level, but its merely symbolic.

I heard after the speech that the average campaign donation for Obama was $80. When you take that in the context of what he raised, it's really amazing.
-
I was really surprised to see the fate of moderate republicans such as Elizabeth Dole, who I believe is very popular and well liked. I can't help but wonder if McCain's attaching himself to Palin and turning the party to the right had a more far reaching effect than we would have thought.

I think its a true reflection of what journalism has become.
-
Did this change anything for anyone? Personally, I was disappointed in McCain. While running against Bush 43 in the primaries, he said that his personal views were exactly that - personal. He said he would not support an attempt to revisit the issue in an attempt to overturn and undermine the Supreme Court and would not support any law that would lead to government interference in the medical decisions of individuals. That's the McCain I was hoping to get the chance to vote for in 2000. Unfortunately, it appears as if that McCain has left the building.
