  1. Planes that go to 15 000 ft every time and fast are better than other aircraft! Therefore, Skydive Spain's two Dorniers are the best ones! http://www.airport-data.com/aircraft/photo/109746.html See, logic! Really, I hate jump airplanes, they are all noisy and uncomfortable, I'm not in it for the plane ride, I like to get out. Relax, you can die if you mess up, but it will probably not be by bullet. I'm a BIG, TOUGH BIGWAY FORMATION SKYDIVER! What are you?
  2. I tell them that I jump out of airplanes for fun, and if they have any questions, I answer them in a serious way. I also emphasize the fact that it's a really serious sport, and that I went on a training camp with the national team. I don't think it's anything like a pool at all, I tried swimming in the wind tunnel, but it didn't work at all. Relax, you can die if you mess up, but it will probably not be by bullet. 3. All over the internet too! One of the really funny parts about this video was about 10 jumpers just standing there and watching the boat land. We found it's slow fall rate quite interesting, and were entertained for several minutes. Relax, you can die if you mess up, but it will probably not be by bullet. 4. I'm going to Skydive Spain to jump from 15 000' on every load!

  6. Didn't read the entire thread, huh? Well, it came from morocco, it would without question die all by itself here in Norway. No need for violence. Relax, you can die if you mess up, but it will probably not be by bullet. I'm a BIG, TOUGH BIGWAY FORMATION SKYDIVER! What are you?
  7. There are many people who will be able to understand the risk to a sufficient degree, and who will still want to do it, but who don't do it right now because they don't know about skydiving. They don't know that it's a sport, and that we do it because it's fun. I don't see promoting the sport as something that conflicts with getting the right kind of people to skydive. We just have to make sure to tell them about the risks as well as the rewards. And vice versa. This is not BASE jumping, I can see no reason to tell everyone "It's unsafe, now go away!". And the things you mention there has been done by intelligent and experienced people like you and me who were fully aware of the risks. I've seen people turn low, and they were not "craters waiting to happen" (well, are not, they are walking around with varying amounts of metal in them). The only way of eliminating human error in skydiving, would be to remove the skydivers. As it is, we are just a bunch of normal people who enjoy jumping out of perfectly good airplanes. 8. Why did you KILL it? Poor grasshopper! Relax, you can die if you mess up, but it will probably not be by bullet. I'm a BIG, TOUGH BIGWAY FORMATION SKYDIVER! What are you?
  9. So who do you think should skydive? I'm the first to admit that I'm only human, I don't have lightning fast reflexes, super human streinght or x-ray vision, I'm definitely not part of the COOL gang, and I didn't want to skydive before a friend of mine started and told me all about how much fun it was. Should I quit skydiving? I see nothing wrong in promoting the sport, most people don't really know what we do and what's the point of it until we tell them about it. Many people wouldn't have started if it weren't for friends or family members who are jumpers. Just make sure to tell them it's a high risk activity too. Because it is. 10. Be careful! The place is soon going to be invaded by crazy norwegians, some of them with wingsuits, this easter. They call themselves "Crazy viking camp" and will be easily recognizible by their strong norwegian accents and distinctive "Crazy Viking" T-shirts. No seriously, they're just a bunch of fun jumpers going over, on a 2 weeks trip, go and ask them if you can jump with them if you want! Relax, you can die if you mess up, but it will probably not be by bullet. I'm a BIG, TOUGH BIGWAY FORMATION SKYDIVER! What are you?
  11. Yes, I have. I think that's more BASE than skydiving, even if it's done from aircraft. When you put that close interaction with mountains in it, it's more BASE than anything else, IMHO. I'm sure everyone here has seen Skywalkers and the PD boys fly the terrain with their high performance canopies too.
  12. I'm a computer janitor: you know the nice person you call out to hit the CAPS key for you or lock you into the computer systems when you have locked yourself out. I also clean up mess on the file server, and deactivate old user accounts. Just the everyday maintenance stuff. So bow before me for I am root, but really I'm here just to serve. It's correct what my profile says too: I'm in human-cyborg relations, I get humans and computers to work better together. Relax, you can die if you mess up, but it will probably not be by bullet. 13. Hahahahahahahaha Good question: What about heading for your nearest vertical wind tunnel and write the song about tunnel flight instead? Safer, and much more original
  14. When you start skydiving or go to a new DZ, you will have to sign a waiver that will make it unlikely that you win if you sue the DZ. In my country, it's about one paragraph, and when I went to the US to skydive it was about 4 pages, but it basically says the same thing: "I accept the risk of skydiving and will not sue if something goes wrong". As far as I remember, Lutz lost, thanks to the waiver, but correct me here if I'm wrong! About human error: Why do you think there are car accidents? Human error does not just happen with inexperienced skydivers or stupid people or unlucky ones, it can happen to anybody. People, including skydivers make mistakes, and sometimes those mistakes can lead to serious injury or death. Of course, with proper training and attitudes, you will be less likely to make mistakes, but that doesn't mean that you will ever reach such a level of perfection that nothing bad can ever happen to you. Just like on the road. And there is always a factor that you can't control, both in the sky and on the road: the jump plane can crash at take off, or the tired guy in the big truck can cross the yellow line and suddenly be in front of you. Many people will say that it's not a very good idea to watch videos of incidents before you know enough about skydiving to know what causes them. I think they're quite tasteless myself, and if you have seen one, you have seen them all ("Oh, another low turn!"). You will gain more knowledge by reading the incidents forum here or skydivingfatalities.info. But I think you can wait till after AFF. People who don't skydive, or "whuffos" as we call them will make stupid comments. But "Don't forget to open your parachute!" is actually sensible advice. Tell us how it goes when you jump
  15. Lazy ass me kept paying for pack jobs even after I got my A licence! If I'm going to a really intensive training camp, I still use packers, but otherwise I pack for myself, or even help others out. Cheaper that way. Relax, you can die if you mess up, but it will probably not be by bullet. I'm a BIG, TOUGH BIGWAY FORMATION SKYDIVER! What are you?
  16. Hi! Yep, you're right, most skydivers, like most people are actually nice and helpful and friendly. They will also respond well to free beer, after the day's jumping is done, of course. But don't worry about that yet, the beer rules apply only to licenced skydivers But you will also meet people that you don't like in this community, and like every community, not everyone is trustworthy. About Question 18: You are referring to the infameous Scott Lutz video. Search the forum for further info about this. This is a guy who screwed up his level one AFF really badly, and then went on to sue the DZ and the instructors who really did what they could to save his life (look at his instructor diving after him to get him to pull the silver handle, there is no AAD in the rig). Not a popular man in the skydiving community. So the comment about Scott not being able to steer the reserve is true: HE certainly couldn't. There was a big, open field right next to what Scott described as: "POWERLINES, they were everywhere!" But the Lutz video also demonstrates how things can go wrong on an AFF jump, even with normal, intelligent people who are completely confident that they will handle the situation. Your instructors can help you, but it really depends on you. I hope I haven't scared you here, but do read more about the risk in the "getting started" article under "safety" here. You will be prepared for and have routines for almost any situation before you get to jump. Odds are, you are not going to be the next Scott Lutz. Skydiving is great fun, and you can't know if you like it if you don't try it.
  17. My first was a tandem, and I was strapped to my instructor, so when he let go of the plane I went too. Really easy, actually! When I did my AFF jumps, it was scary, but at the same time, I was really focused on what I was going to do, and stepping out of the plane was just one of those things. But I did say "no!" on jumprun on my AFF level2. Really. One of my skydiving buddies remembers it and keeps teasing me about it even now. It is great fun, but you don't know if you like it till you try it. To the OP: Congratulations on your tandem, great video, it looks like you had a good time! And welcome to the forums! 18. I've never been at a DZ that I felt didn't take safety seriously or were below my standards in safety, maybe I've just been to the best DZs, then
  19. The fishies would say: "She's violating fish rights by regularly taking some of us out and selling us at the local aquarium club auction. Sometimes she commits the horrible crime of removing some of the plants so she can see us. She also doesn't give us enough food. Speaking of food, where is it, oh, I think I saw something move, FOOD, FOOD!" Relax, you can die if you mess up, but it will probably not be by bullet. I'm a BIG, TOUGH BIGWAY FORMATION SKYDIVER! 20. Call the police when they play loud music at night! (Well, that's not particularly evil, but it is effective, and it does annoy them. Effective is better than evil). 21. All you sweedish people are welcome to come to Norway without a passport. And Norway has a lot to offer, like beautiful nature, scarce population and expensive booze. 22. And those "small boobs" weren't really small at all. I'll show you small boobs, I will, you just wait, grumblemumble... Relax, you can die if you mess up, but it will probably not be by bullet. I'm a BIG, TOUGH BIGWAY FORMATION SKYDIVER! What are you?

  24. Of course it has! And she's not afraid of showing them either, she's scandinavian! It's a cute little glucose-based core family: Daddy, kiddy and mommy. Here's the original package: http://www.matvareguiden.no/bilder/8606.gif Silly me, wasn't thinking about the fact that this would be read by americans, to us scandinavians, this is all natural. Candy with boobies would probably have an 18 year old age limit in America. (PS they just recently launched a new version of the ladies, without the sugar coating, so they're NAKED). http://www.nidar.no/eway/default.aspx?pid=271&trg=MainLeft_5577&Page_5665=5651:0:10,1736:1:0:0:::0:0&MainLeft_5577=5609:19107::1:5582:1:::0:0 Relax, you can die if you mess up, but it will probably not be by bullet.
