I drink normal coffee black, but on rare occations, I take a little cream in it. I suppose that's scandinavian. And I add milk to espresso. Warm or cold. Yum, coffee. I have espresso and energy drink for breakfast

0:6:1 Is it beer if I got the pilot bridle out in freefall and had to grab both the bridle and the hackey and throw all of it out at pull time? For the first time! My fault, though. And no luck with that hot guy at the DZ yet. But I don't just want his body, I want his soul, so I'll take my time. Good 4-way jumps, actually I'm not that bad at 4 way, or I COULD be good if I got a team and practiced more.

Sweet!

Everyone will have their own opinions on what is the best gear and what it should sell for. I'd say take your time and look at many ads, ask people at your DZ, and get to try things on before buying. They will often know what are the typical second hand values of different gear in your area. Read the scam alert if using the classifieds on this site or other online ad services. I love the Aerodyne Smart reserve, really nice flare and openings on that one, the PD Silhouette is a great beginner's canopy, and way under rated, IMO, but there are many more good beginner canopies. Why would you want something smaller than a 170? I'd think you'd get through the wind with no problems with that? The Cypres AAD has factory maintenance, so an older one should be just as good as a brand new one. Don't think about what canopy will be good for wingsuit just yet, as you should wait with the wingsuiting until at least 250 jumps (according to manufacturer's recommendations), and then you'd probably already gotten a smaller canopy. Don't do what I did, I got brand new gear as a first rig, but could have saved a lot of money if I'd bought second hand, the main I'm flying now is second hand, and I doubt it would have been any more fun if it had been new. Relax, you can die if you mess up, but it will probably not be by bullet. I'm a BIG, TOUGH BIGWAY FORMATION SKYDIVER! What are you?

Second that, Silhouette is a great beginner canopy, I have many jumps on a Silhouette.

It's got a spring loaded pilot chute. What body position are you in when you cut away? Your head will be up, and there's a better chance of your reserve pilot coming out in the clean air instead of your burble. But this is part of the old RSL vs Anti RSL discussion that's been going on here forever. Relax, you can die if you mess up, but it will probably not be by bullet. Oh NO! Sucks to be you, this is like the feared problem many norwegian skydivers face in the spring: "Ouch, it hurts to wear my rig because I've got a sunburn!" My problem is that I need a new harness/container system, as it's not possible to pack a smaller canopy than a Pilot 124 in my Icon I4. Or it would be possible, but I wouldn't jump it. But I'm sure there are many people here who are ready to help me with just that. Relax, you can die if you mess up, but it will probably not be by bullet. I'm a BIG, TOUGH BIGWAY FORMATION SKYDIVER! My point excactly. collisions between jumpers in freefall and under canopy isn't pretty. The Sabre2 is known to sometimes have off heading openings with closed end cells, and if he had another 1000', he might have been able to resolve the problem without cutting away. This looks like a typical example of how main canopy choices and pull altitudes affect the likelyhood of a cutaway. But he handled it fine, he's here, and will get repacked and back in the sky. Oh, and no point in trying to get stable after a cutaway, go straight to your reserve handle. You only burn valuable altitude and create a chance of a pilot chute hesitation that can be extra problematic if you've already burned altitude to get stable enough to get it. Relax, you can die if you mess up, but it will probably not be by bullet. I'm a BIG, TOUGH BIGWAY FORMATION SKYDIVER! What are you?

If you're bored how about designing me a container [;)]
pinkfairy replied to Boris73's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Really nice red and black design, I'd go for that if I were you. Keeps looking good despite grass stains and dirt, and matches everything! -
You are trained to deal with a malfunction, that means that it isn't necessarily such a high stress situation as you might think it is before you do it. When I had my first cutaway just recently, everything went smooth after I'd decided to chop: I remember thinking in the second freefall: "Not to worry, I've got a parachute!" , and I never felt safer than under my Smart Reserve ("Wow, this thing has a great flare, I'm gonna stand up this!"). It wasn't really scary. Finding the reason for the malfunction and preventing it from happening again is the more important thing here. Every year there are fatalities that result from incorrect or too late response to malfunctions, but they wouldn't have the problem to start with if they didn't have a malfunction. Congratulations on your successful cutaway!

Yeah....soft landings? How do you do it?
pinkfairy replied to shah269's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Practice. You land many times under a big, forgiving wing that doesn't break you completely when you mess up a little. That's how everyone started out. What else did you get good at after 8 tries? I found that looking ahead instead of down on landing helps, so does practice flares higher up, how are you going to use all of the flare if you don't know where it starts? Talk to your instructors about the flare tecnique, I'm sure they have their own ways and methods of explaining the flare. Landings are important, just ask me, I've broken a leg in a bad landing, and have had more bruises than you can count. Oh and how could I forget that blue toe incident! If you don't land properly, you can't go up again. Take care! Relax, you can die if you mess up, but it will probably not be by bullet. I'm a BIG, TOUGH BIGWAY FORMATION SKYDIVER! What are you? -
Pulling at 4000 can be a bit problematic if everyone else on your group are pulling at 3000-2500. Relax, you can die if you mess up, but it will probably not be by bullet. I'm a BIG, TOUGH BIGWAY FORMATION SKYDIVER! What are you?

What kind of seven cell is it? Triathlon? Spectre? Read the reviews here on those canopies, lots of people are happy with them, and they are suitable for beginners when lightly wingloaded. I want a reserve repack really badly. And some sleep right now. And that hot guy at the DZ. But not because he's so hot, just because I like his personality. Relax, you can die if you mess up, but it will probably not be by bullet. I'm a BIG, TOUGH BIGWAY FORMATION SKYDIVER! What are you?

http://www.whatjeffkilled.com/ Efficiency. And this is a male cat. I have to say like the rest of the people here: Kitties cost money in veterinary care, and spaying or neutering is a very good idea. Mouse traps and closing any holes or gaps that mice can get into the buildings through is cheaper.

Why would anybody jump from a perfectly good airplane
pinkfairy replied to BHogg's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
"Because I like it!" It works, people can't really argue with that. Edited to add: It's even truthful and honest. If they are really interested, you get the chance to say something positive about the sport, and if they aren't, then they'll leave you alone. -
How soon is too soon to start freeflying?
pinkfairy replied to Rstanley0312's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I know that, the people who start freeflying straight off AFF and never get into belly flying suck on their belly. Really, thay can't arch and will go head down to get down to the speedstar base. But I meet many people who do it that way, and as long as they keep to what they know how to do, then I see nothing wrong with it. Relax, you can die if you mess up, but it will probably not be by bullet. I'm a BIG, TOUGH BIGWAY FORMATION SKYDIVER! What are you? -
Congratulations! Weird, isn't it, I just had my first reserve ride too, and, even if I know that from the moment I'd decided to chop it happened really fast, I just felt calm through the whole thing, took my time to look for the handles, peel them off the velcro and pull. No stress, just did it.

How soon is too soon to start freeflying?
pinkfairy replied to Rstanley0312's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
If they're just messing arount trying to do head up all by themselves in suitable gear at 50 jumps, I see nothing wrong with it. Participating in larger freefly group jumps would of course not be a very good idea at that experience level. I do think that belly is a better idea for beginers, because they can actually achieve something quite fast, which is fun, If I do an FS 2-way with someone with 30 jumps, we'll score some points and have fun instead of just flailing around. So what did this cartoon get right?
pinkfairy replied to ntrprnr's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Maybe she's just in the middle of the deployment, that would explain the closed riser covers too, but why is she holding the toggles then? Yikes! Landing on high heels. I'd rather go barefoot! Full fat yoghurt with some norwegian no sugar added breakfast cereal, and coffee. That's what I usually have

No, this is SO wrong! You should be NICE to visiting skydivers, you should buy them beer and pack their canopies for free! Relax, you can die if you mess up, but it will probably not be by bullet. I'm a BIG, TOUGH BIGWAY FORMATION SKYDIVER! What are you?

It's not so easy. When a newer jumper does something stupid, maybe something he thought he would never do because he's "safe" and "good at what he's doing", it really, really bruises his ego, and is also pretty scary because his perception of what is safe was based on the fact that he would not do the kind of mistake that he just did. People get angry when they get scared or feel stupid. Thanks for doing an important job!
