    reading what you want, i would say lauterbrunnen switzerland,... they have camping or cheap hotels (im rorh or horner). there is epic paragliding. there is a dz that does sweet heli jumps with sick views. u can watch base jumping and it is an amazing valley. fly into zurich and take the train from airport right to LB. i vote italy as well, but if you are going to do venice, fly into venice. on miles it shouldnt matter. dont let life pass you by

    I would also like to add to this post that what you think is a good flare and landable at altitude is hard to judge. I have landed two main maifunctions. Both i thought it wasnt too bad till i was 100' off the ground and the ground starting coming up really fast !! I understand chopping a decent canopy for an unkown is a tough choice. Just give extra thought that judging your fall rate and flare is really tough at 3k. dont let life pass you by

    yes, was renting a room in a really nice house. i would recommend using craigslist/ rooms-shares under housing. i have had really good luck with it. I would get a month to month or a 6 month lease at most. That way if the job blows or you cant live on peanuts, you can get out of there. I have found furnished places too for about the same costs, that way you dont have to buy stuff and/ or sell it when you leave. dont let life pass you by

    I lived there about a year ago. i was living in a bedroom with a private bath for 675 in del mar which is a nice area. if you share a bathroom etc, i think you could be in budget. i would say your prolly gonna see about a 10% increase in total spending for everything else compared to TX. Gas, Food, etc. The weather is amazing and so is the scenery . i say go for it, you can always move back. i have made a couple of leaps of faith that you are thinking of making and it worked out great. As long as you are frugal and can stay within budget, you will be fine. Better find a how to score a cougar/sugar mamma self help book. good luck. dont let life pass you by

    i have done 20-30 balloon jumps. paul gave good advice about currency and brining your phone. have the numbers for the chase truck and balloon pilot in your phone. wouldnt hurt to look at the satellite image of the area the night before. you could also have a print out of the map of the area in your pocket to say " hey i am on road XXXX near road XXX. sucks to be like,, im on some farm near some hill :( . get to the balloon take off site early and check out the powerlines. figure how they run and what the look like. you want to land near a road but clear enough away from powerlines if that makes sense. does not hurt to look at the winds aloft that morning to get a sense of the winds.. you can check the winds aloft at usairnet.com figure out a hard deck and how low u are willing to get out of the balloon. you can pm me with your # if u want to chat. i think i was going to get a ride from you in NY a couple of year ago to the ranch, happy to return the favor.. p dont let life pass you by

    when i was a cop i had a very similar story. i was sent to a grocery store after hours for a woman who had been stabbed. claimed some guy ran up behind her out of nowhere and stabbed her with a steak knife. i sat with her at the hospital and listened to her story. news reports saying how residents didnt feel safe now. turned out this woman stabbed herself for attention and it wasnt the first time. post title is still pretty accurate- society is f@%$ed up dont let life pass you by

    i think the bone head optic/ tonfly helmet type with a side mount video (sony cx 100/110/150) and later to add the still on the top is one route to go. The problem may be if it takes you 2 years to be ready, the camera technology will have changed. In that case any helmet with a go pro will do u fine till u buy the right stuff later when the time comes. that is a decision to be made by you and how many jumps a year you do and when you might be ready. The flat top pro is only if you think u are going to be doing specifically video jumps most of the time. the FTP is heavy but a great video platform. for the still you want to get a cannon xt, xti, xsi with the stock lens for now. again you may wait till you are ready to get the best technology. dont let life pass you by

    from what i read from articles, and this could be wrong, it said she had a tension knot. tension knot on a base rig is a bad day. if you have the altitude, a full canopy collapse is maybe your only option after a couple of toggle pulls. keeping fighting till the bloody goggles. dont let life pass you by

    bring your phone for starters, you might be landing away from the balloon chase truck. when the balloon is lifting off start to study the area. roads, powerlines, landing areas. you want to land somewhat near a road, not near power lines of course. they are great fun. dont let life pass you by

    Having just gone thru the private pilot license course a year ago, it is a fun experience but expensive. The ability to get paid flying time will take a long time and a lot of money. Look at 500 hours at 100 an hour. (50,000) I am pretty sure that dz pilots make barely enough to pay for car gas back and forth to the dz. Thinking that the pilots license will lead to a dz job in the short term, that is not really a viable option. I would choose either route, both are amazing. Both are luxury items. The skydiving is a bit cheaper once you get license and gear, it gets real cheap. The flying not so much and actually gets more expensive as you get into bigger and faster planes. After 4 years I have 1200 skydives, 175 base jumps, and 135 hours of flying and a limited bank account !!!! Fun account filled to the rim however !! f#$% it dont let life pass you by

    yes. the size of the jacket , will depend on your weight. some of the factors include how much you are changing back and forth from non camera jumps, weather (temp) ,and how many jumps per day. do some solos and fun jumps with belly flyers before you use it with tandems. figure out what kind of wing attachment you prefer and is best for your rig or rigs. dont let life pass you by

    Nice spot by the pilot too !!! I think you can also notice here the gloves look pretty big. It cant be repeated enough about jumping with big gloves in the cold and being able to pull any of your handles. It can really be a problem ! This is just an educated guess about this incident. I do not have local knowledge. Be aware if you decide to jump in the cold. dont let life pass you by

    first thing i do when landing in an unknown environment after the canopy open is take my goggles/sunglasses off !!! it will help you see powerlines and little details better. carry your phone with you on the first jump of the day, really strong upper wind days, and night jumps if not all the time. if you spot a wire late, go parallel,, take a down wind or cross wind over a low turn. trees are really not bad options if outs are zero. take the middle of the tree and flare. it works. dont let life pass you by
