OK, I just got off the phone with the guy at the dealership. This is what he said is wrong. The power control modulator has an internal malfunction which is why it needs replaced. Front brakes are just worn. Rear brakes are worn and the wheel cylinders are leaking. The front torque access mount is colapsing. I'm picking it up this afternoon and I'm going to try to take it somewhere to get second opinions on everything. The guy said that when I come to pick it up he'll show me everything that is wrong with it. Is there anyone out there around Atlanta who is a good mechanic or know someone around north Atlanta that is a good mechanic?

It's Friday Night... Why are YOU on Dropzone.com?!!?
iluvtofly replied to Unstable's topic in The Bonfire
Because I'm stuck in the house taking care of my mom who had back surgery yesterday. -
95 Saturn SL I would try to do the stuff myself but the only things I know how to do is put fluids in and change a tire.

That's part of what scares me. My transmission occasionally slips and the mechanic said it's because of the way that the computer is malfunctioning.

Do You Leave the Bathroom Door Open When you Pee??
iluvtofly replied to ACMESkydiver's topic in The Bonfire
If you think that's bad...if my one cat gets in he'll jump up on my lap and lay there. -
It's a 95 Saturn SL with 127,000 miles. I'm going to call in the morning and get an exact list of what is wrong with it. About half way through him listing all the problems my mind just went blank and all I could think was that I'm screwed. I'm not exactly sure what is wrong with the rear brakes but he said that those would be about $400. Does anyone know of a place close to Canton that would be good to go to for a second opinion? Thank you to everyone for all of your suggestions. I'm deffinately considering them all as options.

The main computer is shot, the front and back brakes are shot, and the front torque bar is broken. Unfortunately, most of those items I think will be expensive no matter where I get them.

That's what I mean. I new (to me) used car. There's no way I can afford a brand new car. Sorry...I'll edit and clarify.

Ok...I'm inbetween a rock and a hard place right now and could use some advice. I just drove down to Atlanta from Pennsylvania for a few weeks. On the way down my service engine soon light came on. So today I took it in to get looked at so that it wouldn't die on my way home. Turns out it needs $1600 worth of work done to it. Even if I were to get all of the work done the car would still only be worth $1400 resale. I can afford to buy a new (to me) used car at the moment but I know that in a year my financial situation is going to be changing and I may not be able to afford the payments then. What would you do?

I'm in the same boat as you. Ordered my new rig right after Christmas and it won't be in till late March or early April. Waiting is the worst feeling in the world

I agree with skymamma. Even my after pictures won't look that good. But I think knowing that people will be looking at these pictures is all the incentive I need to really get my ass in gear and get to the gym everyday instead of every other day.

What if we don't get the newspaper? Is there someother way that we can verify the date that we took the picture?

I'm one step ahead of you. I actually started towards a very similar goal back in October. But I'd love to participate. What are the terms and conditions?

What has Skydiving Taught You in Everyday Life
iluvtofly replied to adventurechick's topic in The Bonfire
I learned alot of the same things that you did. I also learned that I am capable of alot more than I thought. It had been years since I had found something that I truly enjoyed and was willing to put forth the necesary effort to do it well. Skydiving has given me an entirely new perspective to life. I'm deffinately a different person than before I started to skydive. I'm a much happier person as well. I'm learning alot more about myself...for the longest time I would change my personality according to who I was with. I learned what my true personality is and that if people don't like me for who I am then f***k them. -
I don't mind reposts mainly because I'm new and there's alot of stuff I've missed.

Time for a Change, got my self a Five years Plan.
iluvtofly replied to Ripsmacker181's topic in The Bonfire
At least you have an idea what you want to do. I got my degree last May and now I don't think I want to do anything with it. I have no idea what I want to do with my life. It's actually quite depressing not having a real job and not knowing what you want to do. -
I heard that it came from the fact that Jerry Garcia died on April 20th.
-
I never said it was a bad thing. I think it would be quite fun.

You do realize that people are going to start doing this at dz's everywhere.

Ok...now for the next important question. When and where are these boogies? And, are there websites for them?

Happy Birthday.

What is your favorite alcoholic drink? Or top 3?
iluvtofly replied to normiss's topic in The Bonfire
My absolute favorite is vodka sours. When made right they taste just like lemonade. Which can be bad...or is that good. -
Happy Birthday Jason. Wish I could be there for your party. Have an extra drink for me.
