  1. Also stay away from adds that say "perfect beginner gear"! If the gear can get a drivers license it's too old.
  2. Todd's memorial day at Skydive Twin Cities was indeed amazing! The drop zone was positively packed with fellow jumpers who loved him, as well as many of Todd and Lynn's family. We started jumping around noon and continued until sunset, and many great jumps were had by all. My favorite was a chick way with Lynn, Jamie, Monique, Erika, and Mary. After getting ourselves some extra altitude, we launched a six way zipper, which didn't work out perfectly, but we got it together quick. We went to a round, with a missing slot for Todd, because he would want to be on a jump with all these boobs. Lynn and Jamie made sure to rub their nipples for good measure. Them Lynn and Mo flew together and we added some pods and spun the 3 ways like crazy, close and fast. I'll never forget seeing Lynn's hand on Mo's face shield as we slammed them back together - Ha! We made it through the dive twice (nipple rubs both times) and back to the top before tracking off giggling inside our helmets. Todd would love that one.... Lynn brought out many photos of Todd, as well as his first logbook, and I learned something new... Todd did freestyle!! There are entries on several jumps, including details about doing T’s and flipping them… who knew?? There was also a D-bag made out to be a card box (very cool) and I made a short memorial video showing his fantastic 4 way skills, his usual antics, and the trademark cheesy grin. Of course we made sure to HIM him a couple times. Today my heart hurts… I miss Todd, I love Lynn… But, to honor them both, I will continue to train and coach students for free as much as I can, since I know they are both very much about paying it forward. For all of you reading this, if you want to honor Todd, take a newbie up on your own dime... he would love that! M xx Team Flew-id Making freefall pretty since 1998
  3. Thank you Lynn for more great stories... Todd on the lawn mower is his factory diver.. HA! My favorite story is the demo into the View in the dead of winter, and he's wearing shorts. He lands and does the polar bear plunge, and then we forgot to bring him his clothes. The video debuts today... We will miss you brother! Beasts and Jager bombs all around! 4. I would rather have it the 12th also. We are having a freefly scrambles the next weekend (maybe cause our otter is broke). Karl Eakins
  5. I can't make this one. We have a NPSL meet at Skydive Twin Cities and will have a video camera permanently attached to my head! Good luck everybody!! Karl Eakins
  6. It should be under the reserve flap on the packing card holder, usually sits between the pack job and the back pad of the container.
  7. Also pay a lot of attention to body position when deploying. Sabres are very forgiving while the Katana will do exactly what you tell it to do. Just do a nice gentle throw, look to the horizon, keep hips square to the relative wind, and enjoy the next few seconds of sniveley goodness! Karl Bob
  8. I'll be driving down from St. Paul on Friday if the weather looks like it's going to hold. Karl Eakins Team Flew-id

  11. CYPRES has been used for more than a decade now with how many millions of jumps? I say you can't argue with a track record like that. Karl Eakins Team Flew-id Freestyle
  12. I totally agree with Spizzzarko's review. I demoed a 126 (WL 1.55) and it flew like a sport canopy. There was no wind when I was jumping and the surf from a 90 degree turn was amazing. My second landing was a DEEP toggle approach, it felt as though I could land it like that with an easy PLF. The canopy recovered quickly when the toggles were let up and still had a lot of flare while still surging a bit. Awesome reserve! Karl Eakins Team Flew-id Freestyle
  13. Happy B-day!!! Wish we were down there partying instead of freezing our ass off up here. Karl and Merriah
  14. I called Brent about a month ago and he was going to be out of stock for 7-8 weeks. So maybe soon another batch will be ready. Karl Bob
  15. A good friend asked me to post this for him: Another Brother Gone Today we may say & party like there’s no tomorrow. But most will see the new day. And for those that don’t we grieve. For today we play hard and take no prisoners and we hope to take no baggage forward with us. For those that see the new sun are truly KINGS & QUEENS. MASTERS OF OUR UNIVERSES ALL! IT may look to some that observe from the confines of their box that those of us that cut our own trail are CRAZY! But I/we can’t see the sun through the walls of normality. But from out here the sun always rises but on the few we mourn. SO PARTY LIKE A ROCK STAR For the new sun rises with blue skies and love for all !!! MAD MAN 07/26/06 Written for those here. 16. What a fantastic memorial jump we had for our brother... You will be very missed, Mark. Your kind and generous spirit touched everyone who met you. My head still hurts a little from the celebration of your life, but it's a good pain... Thanks for the skydives, the laughs, oh and the ice cream... Peace out to the only man other than my husband who's seen my tata's... I'm sure I'll feel your spirit in the shower next time. Love, love, love, M Team Flew-id Making freefall pretty since 1998
  17. I'm soooo excited to see all the people interested in discussing and trying freestyle! Just want to put it out there - I'm willing to help anyone out...with choreographing routines, breaking down compulsories, etc. Don't be discouraged by the compulsories, there's a couple of those buggers I still can't do consistently... I'm also glad to see all the props given to the camera flyers. I've always encouraged freestylists to treat their camera flyers well, since it doesn't matter how cool your tricks are if there's no one there to capture it. Splurge on a jump ticket for an outside camera flyer so that you can both see your interaction... it helps a lot! I also strongly recommend the Dale Stuart tape and book... I pretty much learned everything I know from her. Feel free to email me for help! Blue skies and pointed toes, M Team Flew-id Making freefall pretty since 1998
  18. Here's to all the flyers that are willing to go both ways... thanks to the Chip crowd for continually challenging my belly skills. Never knew I could launch so many weird grips... much love to you, todd. M Team Flew-id Making freefall pretty since 1998
