  1. I've not seen any external firewire disks that will capture video. My maxtor won't. Other options are firewire DVD burners, or just bringing out a laptop. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  2. For me it's the landing slide. I'm not overly concerned with catching a line. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  3. Whenever I go shoe shopping I always pick the ones with the smoothes soles. Right now though, I'm sporting a pair of ShaSha sk8 shoes... Why? Cuz they've got flames. They make me go faster. http://www.recklessop.com/shasha_sk8.htm _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  4. I'll echo what Quade says. Work on your freefall skills so that you master all the required fall-rates, then consider strapping on a camera, never mind wings. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  5. As far as I know, only one person was doing it, but has stopped. You say "They were not interested in my opinion" does 'They' refer to 'TM & S&TAs' or 'Strong' or both? I've not spoken to anyone at Strong. I was refering to the S&TA and TM. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  6. I did, long before this thread came about. Both the TM and the S&TA's insisted that Strong Enterprises was aware of, and condoned that style of jumping. They were not interested in my opinion, which isn't surprising - I don't have a TM rating. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  7. If my fist video had looked like this, I think I would've gone home humiliated and embarassed, I would have refused to show my video to anyone, and probably would have never made another skydive. I know somepeople think stuff like this is cool, but in all honesty - I just don't understand why. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  8. Your swooping example is a terrible one. Accuracy is definately a prerequsite to swooping. If that person can't be accurate while going fast, they shouldn't be going fast. That said, I'd love to see some basic CRW in the USPA license regiment. I think there's too many people who just don't know how to handle themselves while being close to other jumpers under canopy. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  9. If you're having trouble figuring out Movie Maker, Premiere will not make life any easier. Premiere is a very complex tool. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  10. I don't have a Cypres in my CRW rig, because there's little likelyhood of me needing one on a CRW jump. Right now, I can't justify the expense. I wouldn't mind getting one, though - for when I occaisionally use my CRW rig for other stuff. Sometimes I'll use two rigs during 4way meets. If I had one, I think I would probably turn it on for CRW jumps. The odds of a modern AAD misfiring are low enough that I do think they're of greater value than risk. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  11. 18 years, two ticket - none recently. I am consistently one of the fastest drivers on the road, but I pay attention to whats going on around me. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  12. Give me a break, that's a rounding error. Fine, I jump a PDR 143 at 1.776 wingloading, less after I go to the bathroom. I'm aware of that. That's why I've landed that demo PDR 143 downwind in 20MPH winds, landed it on rear risers, and with one toggle stowed. I recomend a similar exercise to others but regularly get shit for it. You're paddling up the wrong creek here. I'm fully qualified to fly the canopies that I do. Getting back on track, I found the PD Reserve to be very docile, even moreso with brakes stowed. It was very dificult to induce any kind of harness turn at all. I presume this is true of other reserve canopies, but I don't have firsthand knowledge. If you'd like to go through a similar execersise, I'd be very interested in your observations. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  13. I disagree. I demo jumped a PDReserve 143 at about a 1.8 wingloading, and had a great deal of dificulty inducing harness turns. I found it to be the case that pretty much the only way to get it to turn was through toggle or risers. Shortly thereafter I bought one. Fast, but docile. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  14. Where I jump in the midwest, literally smack in the middle of the largest cornfields you could possibly imagine...? Yup. Landing would likely either be soft mud in the spring or tall corn in the summer. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  15. Anyone ever used a system like this? http://www.floatograph.com/24ghzvideosystem.html I'm looking for an innexpensive system, broadcast quality is not a priority. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  16. There are two DZ's near Rochester NY. I've done many jumps at Frontier Skydivers near Newfane, and have many fond memories. I believe they fly a twin Otter, so that's a big plus. www.frontierskydivers.com. There's also Rochester Skydivers in Malone, which will be a bit closer, but they only fly 182's. I've never been there. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  17. When doing anything other than CRW, I think I may have jumped without an AAD once, in over a thousand jumps. I do not have an AAD in my CRW rig. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  18. That list refers to the Current Account. Do you know what the Current Account actually is? (It doesn't have much to do with what most people think of as Debt.) It's also a number where a big number is good, and a small number is bad. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  19. Yikes, sorry to hear that. Please send our thoughs... _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  20. You should always check the reputation of online stores by using a tool like http://www.resellerratings.com/ I've bought from Butterfly photo before. They will try to sell you accesories, but will understand when you say 'no'. ButterflyPhoto gets very poor ratings for accepting returns. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  21. I put a 135 in my I4. It fits well. I can't imagine how a 150 would fit into a smaller container. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  22. There's a flegling CRW scene at Chicagoland, and we're getting a lot of requests to teach others. I don't know nearly enough to teach, and the others know more than I but don't have the time. Are there traveling coaches in the CRW world? Are there people who we could book, where they could bring their own canopies and give a course? _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  23. Once opened, it really depends on how much air is in the bottle. Oxygen is the killer of good flavors, so an open bottle with just an inch of air will last nearly forever, while a bottle with just an inch of liquid will spoil quickly. A good alternative is to buy a can of compressed nitrogen from a wine store specifically for this purpose. The nitrogen will settle in a layer at the bottom of the bottle just above the liquid, and protect it from the oxygen above. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  24. Bill Booth actually tested the Aerodyne miniforce rings. He posted his results here: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1636917;. Quoting Bill Booth: _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  25. Let's see.... 3 plane crashes, a popped pin on a reserve, a DZO that gets mad at safe decisions, and the a plane that looses its flaps. Dude, time to find a new DZ. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
