I believe you're refering to N19TX. http://registry.faa.gov/aircraftinquiry/nnumsql.asp?NNumbertxt=19TXp. contact andri [at] winaviation [dot] com _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

A normal pilot chute attached to a jumper at terminal will pull somewhere around 75 pounds. As long as your pilot chute is cocked, that's then enough more force to to pull either tuck-tabs or magnetic riser covers. If your pilot chute is not cocked, I would think that all bets are off in both cases. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

If the canopy is the only deciding factor, then I say 'yes'. I think that more often than not, once people get to the point where they're flying a small HP canopy, ego plays a bigger role in this decision than it should. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Yup, that sounds about right. Sorry, I know that's not the answer you were looking for. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Questions About USPA Budget
AndyMan replied to WatchYourStep's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Also remember that the number that's in the budget is going to be a lot higher than his salary. We all get benefits deducted from our paychecks, but employers also must pay their share of benefits, never mind payroll taxes. From what I've seen, the budget line for compensation is about 50% higher than the total of everyones salary. A good guess is that the salary of the E.D. makes a good 25% less than that number - not a huge number for that kind of job - before you start taking away standard deductions. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead. -
Java doesn't suck at all. The compilation errors are due to illegal variable names. I don't know of many programming languages where "+", "-" make good variable names. If you called an int "number-" - what would "number---" mean? What about number-++ That would be confusing in Java, C, C++, or C#. Don't use special characters in variable names. Secondly, implementing actionListener is an easy way to handle functionality of a button, but when you start having multiple buttons it gets really confusing. Look at how you can add a new custom Listener to each button. For the easy way to do this, think of a way to add an Anonymous Inner class to each button. For extra points move the Listeners into their own class, maybe even in a different package like "busobj", or something. Think about ways to separate your business logic from your UI. All these tricks help to make Java definately not suck. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Leave the technical details of "how to make a jumpsuit" up to the jumpsuit makers. Seriously. Talk to the jumpsuit company, tell them your height, weight, and prefered jumping style - and let them come up with the appropriate jumpsuit. The biggest mistake that I see new jumpers do when buying jumpsuits - is telling the jumpsuit makers how to do their job. You pick the colors, they pick the fabrics. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

PD Low Bulk Reserve - upsize your reserve or downsize your container?
AndyMan replied to tdog's topic in Safety and Training
I am hoping to put a 190(1.3) where I currently have a 143(1.8). _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead. -
Turbines run just fine on bio-diesel. The PT-6 used on most jump planes will literally run on practically any kind of fuel if they have to. It may make things more expensive, or it may not. Who knows? _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Rodeo RW is a blast when you can pull it off. I don't think launching the rodeo is the right idea. Instead, launch as normal then have people "mount up". See attached, _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Jumping off DZ in Canada - How to make it happen?
AndyMan replied to Chris-Ottawa's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
That is not helpful. To me, jumping into a city, landing in a parking lot downtown infront of a crowd - I have trouble imagining that not being at least a "Level 1" demo. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead. -
Jumping off DZ in Canada - How to make it happen?
AndyMan replied to Chris-Ottawa's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
In the US, you would be required to have at least a USPA 'C' license (200 jumps), or preferably a PRO Rating. At my home DZ, you would probably not be allowed to do it without the PRO rating. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead. -
Here's mine: http://www.andycam.org/gallery/2019359/1/103429774 I'm flying a 4-stack into a game played by the Kane County Cougars "A" minor league baseball team. I was hoping to get this shot over the stadium, but had to settle for the parking lot because we were getting a bit low. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

When I was jumping a J3, had the following canopies fitting nicely. Stiletto 150, Triathlon 190, and Sabre 210. Granted that the Sabre was pretty tight, and the Stiletto pretty loose. Based on that, a I would think a Hornet 190 would be well within the acceptable range. I personally don't put too much trust in the PIA chart. I would imagine that a Hornet 190 packs pretty much like a Sabre2 190, except when new - the Sabre2 will pack a bit bigger when new, but only for the first 50 packjobs, or so. Javelins are great because the placing of the closing loop at the back allows for a wide range of canopy sizes - you just have to size the closing loop appropriately. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

To me, magnetic riser covers seem like a solution in need of a problem. I've no complaints with the tuck-tabs on my Icon, and my wife seems happy with the ones on her Mirage. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

It's tough to get an honest opinion on the Firebolt and the Angelfire, since there aren't many people out there jumping them. Most of the people who talk about them seem to have vested interests. On the other hand, PD mains and reserves are very well known, and very well respected. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Health Insurance companies have the right to sue on behalf of a client to recover the medical bills paid by the insurance company. In cases of accidents caused by another, leading to a very expensive recovery, this is the norm rather than the exception. Just because the lawsuit is in the name of the skydiver doesn't mean the skydiver is the one doing the sueing. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

I did a pretty dumb thing on friday. I was flying video for a 4way team training for nationals. For whatever reason, the pilot gave us a terrible spot. He blamed a misconfiguration of the GPS, but the result was that he was flying a perfect jumprun with a 4 mile offset south of the DZ, on a northwest jumprun. So, even if we waited - the spot wouldn't get any better unless the pilot changed course. He never looked out the window, so the jumprun sucked badly. Our group was first out. When he hit the yellow light I looked out the door, noticed the jumprun wasn't even close, and pointed that out to the team. When the light went green, I didn't really want to jump, and told the group after us that the spot sucked, badly. The group behind us would have nothing of my complaints, and started harassing us to go so we wouldn't hose everyone else. One of the team members immediately started climbing out, so the rest of us shrugged, climbed out, and went. The entire load landed off, my group was a good 3 miles from the nearest road. I was the only one who was smart enough to fly towards that road, the rest had a good long walk through a plowed cornfield. So - I climbed out on a spot that I knew sucked, I succumed to "green-light-itis" even though I knew the entire load would land off. I've always been the one telling people "Check the spot before you jump!", and well - I did that! I knew exactly what the spot was, and I went anyways. I think I need to start telling people "check the spot before you jump, and don't go if it sucks!". Maybe I'll listen to myself. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
