Do me a favor, and tell HH that I will now call him Snufalufagus. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Oh, no worse then Jesse Ventura taking Minnesota... Anyways, here's what prompted me to ask. Compare and contrast. The globe is a national paper in Canada, traditionally seen right of center. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

My fiancee supports %200 - she drags me out to the dz. I guess that's cause she jumps too. Best of both worlds, I figure! _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Frap Hats More Dangerous Than Going Without A Helmet??
AndyMan replied to slotperfect's topic in Safety and Training
Frequently... people will never get to 45 degrees. If you're going to wait until 45 degrees, you'll frequently have to wait forever.... In my experience, that angle tends to max out between 20 and 30 degrees. Secondly, the angle a jumper leaves the plane is largely constant. The angle will change really only in the first few seconds, then it will become largely constant. Take a look next time you're in the door. The angle theory just does not work. __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead. -
Frap Hats More Dangerous Than Going Without A Helmet??
AndyMan replied to slotperfect's topic in Safety and Training
I don't disagree that a frap-hat spreads the force over the vertical strips of leather, which is a smaller area then a hard helmet provides. However - that strip where the force is concentrated, is still bigger then the impact you'd have without one. Hit your head on the side of the plane without one? You'd have a 25cent piece size round bump. The force is spread over a very small circular area. With a frap hat, the force is spread over a vertical stripe 3 or 4 inches high. You double or triple the area the force is applied to. Not great, but better. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead. -
I would not say there is a "lot" of controversy. There is a very small amount of controversy. The skydiving community has largely agreed that with a very few exceptions, RSL's are good things. There will always be individuals who strongly believe otherwise, but they are thankfully in the minority. _Am - don't wear one because, and only because, I fly camera. __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Frap Hats More Dangerous Than Going Without A Helmet??
AndyMan replied to slotperfect's topic in Safety and Training
You're missing the point. Are hard helmets better then soft helmets? Absolutely. Is no helmet better then soft helmet? I can't imagine any logical explanation why this would be the case, hense my belief in it being an urban legend. _Am (who always wears expensive, but purdy lookin hard helmets) __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead. -
Frap Hats More Dangerous Than Going Without A Helmet??

I'm pretty sure this is an urban legend circulated by those who want to justify their expensive but nice looking hard helmets. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead. -

If something like this happened to me, I would be publicly flogging that company on the internet until they both offered me a refund AND and apology - the apology for lieing to me about their inability to give refunds, never mind lieing about the condition of their products. If they do not change their story quickly, please, PLEASE tell us who they are so that we can all avoid them like the plague. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

I really hope we're not talking about whois info... we're not, right? That would completly over the top. The entire functionality of the internet depends on whois data being public, and it is posted online exactly for the reason of shmucks like us being able to access it. http://www.networksolutions.com/en_US/whois/index.jhtml _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Right, and that's why the pilots lost their licences. There does not appear to be any criminal action being pursued by the FAA, hense that they will get off with just the lost licence. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

I can wear sunglasses under my Z1. That said, I will not recomend my Z1 to anyone. While the problems I've had with it are numerous, they are also minor. The kicker is that the manufacturer is completely unavailable for assistance. Additionally, many gear stores refuse to stock either the helmets or spare parts - like new lenses. My next full-face helmet will be the Bonehead Havok, because it's got all the features I need and I know the manufacturer will stand behind their products. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

The new cypres manual has a new version of the "Cypres Card". This version shows what a complete rig looks like under the same equipment the TSA uses... It's really quite cool. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead. -
Was she showing any other signs of heat exhaustion? I know you didn't get much chance to speak to her on the ground, but maybe Anita did? The inability to comprehend both the dirt dive, and what happened in freefall made me wonder. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Are military static line considered jumps?
AndyMan replied to StevePhelps's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
It depends who's asking - and why. If, for example, you're trying to get into WFFC, they do not. WFFC requires 50 jumps that are not static line or tandem, I belive. If you're going for a USPA licence, they do count. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead. -
Rantoul rocks... First DC-3 jump, first bird-man. Did 3 BM jumps, one with wingie. 3rd was a six-man flock with SkymonkeyOne, LouDiamond, VectorBoy,Phreezone, and BillVon. Rantoul Rocks! Quincy Sucks! back to work... ALso, I'm gonna start calling HH snufalufagus. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

What's neat about the SD9 is that it's using the Foveon X3 chip, instead of a CMOS based one. The Foveon is a radical change in how digital cameras work, and is expected to bring the cost of cameras down considerably. I'm really excited about the X3 chips when used in video cameras, though. They promise to bring 3-chip color quality to a 1-chip camera. The SD-9 is 10 megapixel, and can be scored for $1,099 at retail stores. You can probably find it online for quite a bit less. The $1,099 is from www.ritzcamera.com - my local chain-store. There is some confusion over it being 3.4 megapixel or 10.3 - it's 10.3, and this is caused by the mechanics of the "X3" chip. The nutshell is that they essentially "stack" red, green, and blue sensors ontop of each other, so 3.4 million photodetectors will give 10.3 millinon pixels. I'll defer to quade on the "but it's not canon" and the "but it's untested" arguments. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
