  1. I've glued my Z1 countless times. The best I've found is simply using "shoe goo" - the same stuff people put on their booties. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  2. It's a new camera, so I doubt you'll find anyone here that's used one. That said, just keep in mind when you're browsing the feature list that most of those features will be meaningless to skydiving videos. The biggest difference with this camera is the increased megapixel, which only applies to digital still pictures. The higher megapixel on its own means nothing to video quality - only still. That said, there's some interesting marketing-speak about some color bullshit that I'm interested in understanding more. I'm very curious if it's anything like the Foveon X3, which is expected to bring 3-chip color to 1-chip cameras. I'm certainly not going to run out and replace my pc-120, but I am curious about it. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  3. The final update is that I tried a Camera condom this last weekend, and it solved everything. Temperatures were mid-40's and humid at ground, and were below-freezing at alttitude. I didn't have any problems at all with the Camera Condom installed. Moisture - it's not just a problem on the ground anymore. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  4. To answer my own question, I would characterise my experience with Mack to be negative, and would not recomend it. My complaint is simple - turnaround time. I was without my camera for 8 weeks, and all they did was replace my motherboard. It was over 3 weeks before then even inspected it, and even once it was fixed it was in "prrocessing" for another two weeks before they'd send it back to me. I would've gladly paid the $250 sony repair bill for quicker time. I will not be buying the Mack waranty on my next purchase. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

  6. Do you think building womens restrooms is discriminatory because men aren't allowed in? Is it a bad thing? _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

  8. I believe I started posting in late 1999, about when I started jumping. Back then, you could read all the new posts in all the forums in about an hour. My profile lists 2001 as my registration date. Most people don't know that there was a major revision to DZ in 2001, and we all had to reregister. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  9. If you're going to get righteously indignant, at least pick something worthwhile, otherwise people will question your motives. There's a lot of wrongs going on in this country every day. Pick one where somebody is actually getting hurt, then wave THAT banner. People will think more highly of you. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  10. What's discrimination? You asked if they could create a straight only place, and the very clear answer has been YES. I've posed the question does anyone want to live there, is anyone calling for one, if there was one would you live there, and the presumed answer is NO. There isn't one because nobody wants one. There are no striaght-villages in cities around the world. There are no straight support groups at colleges and universities. There are no groups of people meeting in church basements trying to understand their straight-ness. Nobody wants one. Period. What are you sorry for? I'm certainly not. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  11. I was wondering what gay sex paid attention to....? _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  12. Well, yes! I think the important question, that you're neglecting to ask, is WHY the state would want to do that. I can see a whole lot of very legitimate reasons why gay people might choose to live in an inclusive community, gay bashing is unfortunately still quite common. The fear of gay-bashing is still very rampant in the communities I've been exposed to. I do not see a whole lot of very legitimate reasons why straight people would want the same right. Many gay people have chosen to live togeather in cities, so called "gay villages". There are no exclusive "straight villiages" in any city I've ever been to. Of course straight people COULD do this if they wanted to - it's not like gay people needed laws enacted to move to the villages. Striaght people could do this, they just don't feel the need. I do wonder why gay issues are so important to you. I really do think you should just step out of the closet. I'm reminded back in College all the guys complaining when the Women's Center opened. They were all complaining that they weren't allowed to open a Mens Center. Of course, they WERE allowed to open a Mens Center, its just that nobody bothered because none of us really wanted one. These guys were just complaining just to hinder the women. I can't help but think the same thing is going on here. Do you really want to create a community where a bunch of straight people can hang out relishing in their striaght-ness? It sounds like a pretty boring place to me... _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

  17. It depends on the job.... But, for those that I've been in, and those that I've conducted, a pasion for life has always been relevant. Most employers really, really do not care what you do on your own time. Thos that do, and especially those that would judge you for it, well - you don't want to work for them anyways. I've never hidden the fact that I jump out of airplanes. In some of the more complex interviews, I've found ways of relating lessons learned skydiving to life, and work. Talking about jumping is a great way to answer questions like "how do you handle high preasure situations?", for example. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

  19. The first jump I did with my then fiancee, now wife craichead. http://66.102.107.165/andrew/PiriyaAndyJump/ After that, it would be a "sun-sat" hop and pop from altitude, with flying throuhg broken clouds at dusk. It was amazing. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  20. The only reason to quit is that you don't like the job. If you like the job, then stay. If the short story is true, then you shouldn't get fired. If they do fire you, hopefully you'll get some severance. Which is better? Well, to your future employers it don't make a hill of beans. There's no law that says you have to be honest when asked during an interview "why did you leave"? You won't get caught if you lie, because odds are they won't call the last company for references, and if they do, odds are they won't ask why you left. If they do ask why you left, odds are the old company won't tell them out of fear of your lawsuit over slander. Also - a very respectable synonym for being fired is being "laid off". I once "left" a company called compuware. They provided me with a document stating the dates that I worked there, and that is all they would provide to future employers. Everything else was confidential. They would not give references, no matter what the terms of your departure are. Funny, as a geek going through school in Ottawa, a lot of my friends worked for Corel. I discovered really quickly that getting fired from Corel was their greatest career moves. They all went on to truely great things after getting fired from Corel. There was a time where I was trying to furiously get a job at Corel just so I could get fired... As a geek, its expected that we'll change jobs frequently. Do not fear getting fired, or laid off. Every time I've changed jobs I've increased my salary by 50%. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  21. Don't ask for that unless you really mean it. I've been known to randomly send pizza's. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  22. This looks really cool. I notice the pc120 is now taken off the Sony website, so this appears to replace it in the line-up. Also, you can get it at www.dbuys.com for $1,379 Apart from the larger resolution, they promise crisper colors. They've dropped the bluetooth. No mini-DV cameras come with exchangable lenses like an SLR or larger production camera. Instead, you can add on "conversion" lenses to the end of the standard fixed lens. _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
  23. The poll options suck, so I didn't vote. It's not my call if it should be removed or not. I can't make that judgement, after all I've only read about her condition through the media. That said, the govenor should not make the decision. The state legislature should not make that decision. The courts should not make that decision. The family is the only ones who should make that decision. Since they're conflicted, the decision lies with the closest family member. The courts should assist the family by establishing the pecking order. Is the husband the closest relative or the parents? _Am __ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.
