  1. The picture makes it look so much more dramatic than it is. I basically landed softly on my feet. I had a little momentum going forward slightly enough to drop to my knees. Then I just kind of fell over and used my hands so I didn't fall into the dirt with my face. Wasn't even as bad as tripping over a shoe lace. That's why I'm laughing about it. The picture made it look so much worse than it really was. Especially with that canopy straight up in the air. 2. Hm. I guess when I do a hop and pop March 16th it will have to be from Sebastian for sure then. Rodriguez Brother #1614, Muff Brother #4033 Jumped: Twin Otter, Cessna 182, CASA, Helicopter, Caravan
  3. Odds are you might do something and think "crap, I just screwed up". Usually it's no big deal. Just relax. Go over the dive over and over in your head before the jump and on the plane. Imagine it really happening in your head so you can remember everything better when it's time. On my first couple of jumps I lost a lot of time trying to think what I was supposed to be doing next. It's natural. Rodriguez Brother #1614, Muff Brother #4033 Jumped: Twin Otter, Cessna 182, CASA, Helicopter, Caravan

  5. I didn't know that. Hmmm... well I have no idea then lol. I guess you could always contact the DZ and ask them. Rodriguez Brother #1614, Muff Brother #4033 Jumped: Twin Otter, Cessna 182, CASA, Helicopter, Caravan
  6. It will probably be more like 4-5 hours for the ground course, not counting practicing on the mockup and your jump.
  7. I'm not really sure. It's usually a 230. I have no idea as far as wingloading. I realize what I'm doing wrong, it's just a matter of practice. On occasion I may not bring the toggles all the way down, or I will flare a second or two too early. I think I still need to flare about a second later than I have been. Once I started doing that I should be getting some really soft landings. The landings aren't hard at all, trust me. I just land a lot and fall over . I've been dragged a few feet by the canopy a few times. I'm getting a lot better at it. The last jump this weekend I landed on my feet and didn't have to make a step. I was for a while flaring a little too high and I landed a little hard a few times, but nothing serious. I hurt my leg a little bit the other week, but no big deal. 8. Na, I landed and went to my knees. Still had a little momentum, so I kind of fell over on my hands. I just thought the picture was hilarious, especially with the canopy still open straight up in the air. Oh and DAMN, I ripped my new jump suit on the left leg. I've had some pretty wild landings the last few weeks. The other week I landed and fell over on my stomach and slid, slip n slide style for like 15 feet. That was fun. Still trying to get the hang of landing and running. I have a habit of touching the ground and stopping, so I fall over. I've gotten it right a few times, but still practicing. 9. They did, then the knees, then almost a face plant. Rodriguez Brother #1614, Muff Brother #4033 Jumped: Twin Otter, Cessna 182, CASA, Helicopter, Caravan

  11. Honestly, the only part that ever gets me nervous now is when I walk up to the door. Immediately after I'm out I'm fine. It's just that whole standing at the edge of a 14,500 feet fall that still has my brain saying "WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" 12. What does that mean? Do airspace restrictions shut down the DZ during shuttle landings? If so, for how long? Probably not. They don't during the launches, so I'm sure they don't during the landing. Rodriguez Brother #1614, Muff Brother #4033 Jumped: Twin Otter, Cessna 182, CASA, Helicopter, Caravan
  13. I wish. People suck. And I blame everyone on this Earth for every suicide that occurs. It's all our faults. We drive people to this. We like to blame those that commit suicide, but I like to blame everyone else. It's our faults and our failures too. Probably more so than theirs. 14. Hm, I have about a 21.5" head (I measured so it might not be 100% correct) and I wear an XXL Z1. It's a little tight on my chin, but other than that it's fine. Rodriguez Brother #1614, Muff Brother #4033 Jumped: Twin Otter, Cessna 182, CASA, Helicopter, Caravan
  15. I won't be able to make it for a few months. I've drained my funds continously getting through AFF. Now I'm just going to save up for a few months and go down with enough money to jump most of the weekend. I'm still going to be jumping solos and I need to do a few coached jumps too. Should have my license in a few weeks. So that will slow down my saving effort a bit. If this happens I'll definately be visiting both Sebastian and Space Center though. Christmas didn't help my bank account either. Rodriguez Brother #1614, Muff Brother #4033 Jumped: Twin Otter, Cessna 182, CASA, Helicopter, Caravan
  16. I think if you just talk with your instructors and figure out what your problem was in freefall you will be fine. I had turn issues in freefall on one of my AFF jumps. Thought about going to a wind tunnel, but I went back the following week and did fine. Now I've done 4 solos and my first solo was the most stable jump ever. All the problems I had seemed to dissapear and I just somehow "knew" how to turn with my foot instead of how I had been taught in AFF. It just seemed to come naturally once I wasn't worrying about doing what was planned to the exact and just relaxed. Just relax, tap your toes together so one foot isnt higher than the other and look at the horizon. That seemed to help me more than I imagined possible. 17. That also looks like a pretty cool DZ. I wonder how far they are from each other. Maybe I could make a trip to both while I'm down. About an hour apart. Yea I will definately try to make a trip to both to check them both out. Hm, so I think I am going to plan the trip for March 16th around the shuttle launch and hopefully I can get a nice birds eye view from altitude. 18. Looking for suggestions on some good DZ's as close to beaches as possible. I have a paid weeks vacation available and would like to take a vacation to a beach with a nice DZ near the water with a great view so I can jump all week and have fun on the beach. Also, if you can suggest the DZ's and link their websites that would be great so I can see what the view is like. Thanks Wow, I think I've made my decision. Skydive Space Center is really nice it seems. They also have lodging for free and free camping? The prices aren't bad at all either and they take you up to 18,000 feet for a few dollars more? I'm definately IN. Another 20 seconds of freefall for a few bucks is definately worth it. Rodriguez Brother #1614, Muff Brother #4033 Jumped: Twin Otter, Cessna 182, CASA, Helicopter, Caravan
  19. I didn't see any nakees on the site. Where are the nakees? Show me the boobies. Just kidding. Rodriguez Brother #1614, Muff Brother #4033 Jumped: Twin Otter, Cessna 182, CASA, Helicopter, Caravan
  20. Not sure what happened exactly, but as I've been told, don't fly over anything you don't want to land on. It's good advice. Glad your alright. Be careful. Rodriguez Brother #1614, Muff Brother #4033 Jumped: Twin Otter, Cessna 182, CASA, Helicopter, Caravan
  21. I'll have to check that out. I don't remember seeing anything like that, but I don't really do much to my car other than change the oil/trans. fluid/etc. The reason I say I think it might have one is the way it sounds like you said and it gets a pretty nice quick take off. One of the reasons I like the car so much. Rodriguez Brother #1614, Muff Brother #4033 Jumped: Twin Otter, Cessna 182, CASA, Helicopter, Caravan
  22. Personally I think "global warming" is mostly a bunch of crap. The climate shifts and probably does so very significantly. In other words, I think it's more than likely a natural occurence, not something created by man. Who are we to make up some theory on anything that the Earth does. We have only been here a few thousand years compared to billions (according to scientists - which I don't put much faith in). You can't theorize on data that young. Theres nothing factual to compare it to. Rodriguez Brother #1614, Muff Brother #4033 Jumped: Twin Otter, Cessna 182, CASA, Helicopter, Caravan
  23. Knocked off the Internet completely? It's probably just a bug in the forum software if your name is showing up twice after you log back on to dropzone.com. I seriously doubt it means anyone is logging in under you. Unless you mean your getting kicked off dropzone.com and not the Internet. If your losing your login session you might be having issues with cookies or something of that nature. 24. I have a 1994 Toyota Camry XLE V6, leather seats, sunroof, power seats, etc. I love it. I think it might even have a turbo charger on it. Sure feels like it anyway. Rodriguez Brother #1614, Muff Brother #4033 Jumped: Twin Otter, Cessna 182, CASA, Helicopter, Caravan
