Ok, what the SHIT. It was clear the guy stumbling around was experiencing issues within 20 seconds after the video started. He acted as if he had a very high alcohol content in his blood. Yet, at least two jumpers that I saw sat back and let him stumble to the door then fall out backwards on his back. That is some irresponsible shit. Not only dangerous to their own lives, but the fact that they actually helped that jumper out the door is sickening. I find myself a little pissed off after watching that video. I've had good experiences with other jumpers on the plane in the 24 jumps I've participated in so far and everyone has acted pretty mature and responsible. I have faith and trust in other jumpers due to my experiences with them to date, to see something like this makes me want me to be more cautious about who is on the plane. Whoever that was helping that jumper out needs to be grounded for a long time and given a long speech. They were able to stand up and jump correctly out the door, but not able to see that person rolling on the floor like they were on LSD trying to get out the door was a very bad thing? Then again, I'm one of those people that believe no matter how intoxicated you are on a substance your aware enough of your actions to prevent them and be responsible for them. Don't get me wrong I'm also not one of those people that think we should stop skydiving, just because of the mishaps that do occur. All in all this community is more responsible and mature than any group of people I've ever met. I'm just glad and very suprised the jumpers that did get out made it down alive. Thank you for posting this. I was not aware of this kind of thing at all and I wanted to do a 18k jump in FL this year. Is Skydiving an extreme sport?
chrismgtis replied to aguila's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
What is your definition of extreme? Well, if the X-Games considers skateboarding as an extreme sport, and you use the X-Games definition, then skydiving is definately an extreme sport. I'm with the guy above though, who cares. Rodriguez Brother #1614, Muff Brother #4033 Jumped: Twin Otter, Cessna 182, CASA, Helicopter, Caravan -
Would you like family to skydive
chrismgtis replied to Ruskin's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I've tried multiple times to get my 34 year old brother to do a tandem. He doesn't have the money right now, but would like to. He wanted to be in the Airborne. I don't think I would want anyone in my family to be an active skydiver like me though. I think one of us in this sport in the family is enough. Is Skydiving an extreme sport?
chrismgtis replied to aguila's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I think anyone that says skydiving is not an extreme sport has lost their mind. You're falling through the sky at 120+ from 3,500 to 18,000 feet in the air with nothing but a backpack and two peices of fabric to save you, and this is not extreme? I think this would have to come from the same people who would label golf as an extreme sport. Rodriguez Brother #1614, Muff Brother #4033 Jumped: Twin Otter, Cessna 182, CASA, Helicopter, Caravan -
Very interesting read. Thanks for posting it. No problem. As with anything, don't believe it just because someone said so, though I personally find the information in that article is better and more trustworthy than what thousands of scientists claim is fact or reliable data. One point that really needs to be made is this. We can not predict weather 5 days into the future very accurately, yet so many people choose to believe in a climate forecast 50 or more years into the future. And to beat all things, that data comes from a tube of ice of all things. It's amazing what some people will trust. I suggest anyone that trusts man-made global warming claims read this: http://www.johnstonsarchive.net/environment/waterworld.html This is only one article that sheds light on a very much more viable truth. Is It Kiddie Porn when the Kiddies are Taking Photos of Each Other?
chrismgtis replied to NWFlyer's topic in Speakers Corner
If I ever had the chance to have sex when I was 16, you could bet I would have been right on it, regardless what any law enforcement agency says I can or can not do or what anyones opinion was. That won't ever change and everyone feels the same way at that age. I still do and I'm 24. I'd go back in time and make it happen if I could. Sex is fun. Everyone agrees. Personally, if I wanted to take nude pictures of my girlfriend when I was under 18 and look at them later and she had no problem with it, that was my right and my right to privacy to do whatever I wanted. No one has the right to tell me any different. If I they were 12, I might look at it differently. It's not like they gave the pictures to a 30 year old man. I'm pretty good at landing within 20m of the spot I want to land in. I did a coach jump this Saturday and pointed out where I would land and got within 20m of it. I got within 5 foot of the circle on week. Then again, there have been probably 6 times that I landed in the tall grass on our huge 800 acre DZ (within the triangle). Landings though -- those have been funny. This weekend I put in two jumps. The first jump I came in a little too fast and when I hit the ground I was still moving forward pretty quickly. I end up falling forward and belly sliding. The second jump I landed on my feet with no problem. I've not had too many landings where I did something other than land and then fall over to my knees. Takes practice just like anything else. I'd suggest you ask questions at your DZ in any case. Scott Miller's course is up in a few months. I'm on the list for that one. One of the worst things about that video was how dumbfounded so many people were about where to locate countries on a map and that someone supposedly actually believes that Australia was North Korea. I may not be able to name a lot of countries off the top of my head, but I can sure as hell locate within 1/2-1 inch on a world map "about" where a country is. Some of these things are excusable. I can even see how you wouldn't think of the United States as a country that starts with a U when asked the question under "pressure". Having a camera pointed at you can really turn some people stupid. I know it can have that effect on me. It really amazes me how people think Korea is still a country though. 17,200 scientists say no to man made global warming

Climate forcasting with a model using data that is 1000s of years old is a bunch of bullshit period, no matter how you look at it. Rodriguez Brother #1614, Muff Brother #4033 Jumped: Twin Otter, Cessna 182, CASA, Helicopter, Caravan -
Global Warming Question for Billvon or anyone
chrismgtis replied to diverborg's topic in Speakers Corner
I don't believe the issue is that we create "global warming". If the Earth is warming, it is most likely a natural cycle. Scientists aren't nearly as smart as we give them credit for. Why? Well one reason is they rely to much on what they believe are "facts", but are nothing more than theories and guesses. They use this "data" to make claims. They never use common sense. If we do in fact have some impact on the Earth's climate, it is very small and almost insignificant. We believe we know so much about the Earth, but we don't. We have not had an intelligent society for very long (and I use the word intelligent very loosely, because whether or not we are intelligent is very debatable). I don't really care what methods scientists have for coming up with data that is thousands, millions and billions of years old. They have no idea what the Earth was doing a million years ago. That is more of a fact than anything they've come up with. Rodriguez Brother #1614, Muff Brother #4033 Jumped: Twin Otter, Cessna 182, CASA, Helicopter, Caravan -
there's plenty of oil + natural resources to last us centuries
chrismgtis replied to skinnyflyer's topic in Speakers Corner
What pisses me off is that when the oil companies claim something happened completely unrelated to oil whatsoever and raise the prices, they have millions of barrels of reserves still sitting there. That makes no sense whatsoever. You can't even flush a toilet anymore without being afraid the oil companies will use it as an excuse to price gouge. If I had 1000 cartons of cigarettes in a store that I owned which I purchased for $10.00 (just an example) on Monday and prices rose $5.00 on Friday and I still had 950 cartons left and I started charging an extra $5.00 for the cartons that I already had that is total bullshit and a ripoff, because I didn't pay $5.00 more for the cartons I already had. The oil companies are allowed do it though. Rodriguez Brother #1614, Muff Brother #4033 Jumped: Twin Otter, Cessna 182, CASA, Helicopter, Caravan -
I would say 90% of Americans really are that stupid and I would bet money on it. Not that citizens of other countries are not as stupid, but citizens of this country (the USA) definately are. I can't think of too many people I've ever met that would have answered 9/10 of those questions correctly without a dumbfounded look on their face. This is why I do not vote, never have and never will. I don't follow politics. Politics and world relations are some of the biggest bullshit in existance and I won't have anything to do with it. If I don't follow these things, I have no right to vote. Nor do most Americans. Most Americans seriously need to be stripped of the right to vote. You should at least have to have a certain IQ (I know IQ doesn't mean much - but come on, let's weed out the idiots having some input on who becomes the President). The sad fact of it is, most (yes, most) Americans really are that stupid. Yes, I am an American. Name a country that starts with a U? How the hell do you goof that question? Rodriguez Brother #1614, Muff Brother #4033 Jumped: Twin Otter, Cessna 182, CASA, Helicopter, Caravan

chrismgtis replied to daniel52587's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
You should ask jumpers at your DZ. Do you have a rigging shop there? Ask the owner of the rigging shop, the DZO, the staff, the packers, etc. who you should talk to about gear. Rodriguez Brother #1614, Muff Brother #4033 Jumped: Twin Otter, Cessna 182, CASA, Helicopter, Caravan -

Not to mention the fact that they will probably never find their main and that is one hell of an expense. Not saying you should ever think about that when it comes time to use your reserve though. Rodriguez Brother #1614, Muff Brother #4033 Jumped: Twin Otter, Cessna 182, CASA, Helicopter, Caravan

I saw it a while back on Google video or Youtube I think. That's enough to make you say the hell with base jumping with others. Looks to me like they didn't know what the hell they were doing or just didn't care they were doing something really stupid.
