Have a wonderful day!! I hope you spend it doing something you love.

She is adorable! Good thing she's not my dog, though. If I got that look from her in picture 2, she would get anything she wanted. I'm such a push-over.

Lisa, I'm late weighing in but that's FANTASTIC!!! Congratulations! I'm happy for you!

Because Waiting is the hardest part
Jewels replied to Broke's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
A friend has a freakinsuit on order that she is being told will ship in the next day or so, and she started the ordering process just last week. Sounds like the rumored turn-around time may be true. I'm waiting on a suit, too, but I'm ordering elsewhere and I knew from the start that I was going to have to be patient so I'm trying very hard not to climb walls while I wait. It hasn't been in production very long, but I can't wait to fly it! TPM Sister #102 -

stalk stalk. Guess who has tickets to the Av's game when they come to town????? PLEASE tell me that's the game in March! It's looking more and more like I'll be required to visit GA in the spring. . . . I'd better hurry up on that whole A license thing. As for the tv, though, if it's too high, you're definitely going to have to buy recliners. TPM Sister #102

LOL--maybe, but you could also end up paying a lot of money for your forgiveness. TPM Sister #102

Check with management before you launch into this project. They may have some guidelines for you to follow because I'm sure it has come up before. That way, you don't get into trouble for it later, either! TPM Sister #102

It's 58 degrees here today (so far) after having a very comfortably warm weekend. The local news station keeps weather info. on their website and the web says that we have a 30% chance of rain today. Funny, it rained all morning. I think they can call it with some certainty now. Anyway, it's definitely changing. I'm mentally somewhere back around June. TPM Sister #102

Tunnelmom's kids both fly at pretty high wind speeds and I can do two-ways with her 11-year-old daughter because she has mastered the fall rate problem. That said, her kids also fly several times a week and have a lot of experience working in their favor. I, on the other hand, could spend all my time up by the fans if I really wanted to--and, trust me, it's not because I'm some little pixie who doesn't weigh anything. TPM Sister #102

I keep volunteering to play rag doll for the safety meeting, but no one will let me. I think they feel like I do that all the time when I'm in the tunnel, anyway. That, and something about law suits and paralysis. . . . TPM Sister #102

Interesting article! Sounds like the consensus is that there is no consensus on the "right" age to begin. I'm sure that a lot of factors come into play, like the nature of the class instruction and the personality of the child. Thanks for digging that up! TPM Sister #102

I think this is an interesting thread. Self-defense today is a lot different than when I was in school, of course, but I'm not crazy about the direction it's taking where it seems that so many people feel it's necessary to get this kind of training to protect themselves. My hesitations are largely based on the five-year old son of a friend of mine who went through this same thought process: Teach him to defend himself before he goes to school, and martial arts are the way to go. I will be the first to agree that what and how kids are taught has a lot to do with it, but at that age, he didn't have the self-checking ability to absorb the thought-processes of martial arts. He DID have the ability to absorb the idea that it was sanctioned punch- and kick-throwing and the whole "defense" concept went right out the window. When I was being hit, his mom was pleased because she wanted him to be able to defend himself. She didn't allow him to continue it, but there was no instruction as to why. I have serious doubts that he would willingly curb his own behavior if he got frustrated with someone on the playground. I guess my question is, at what age do you think kids can process the difference between just hitting and kicking and how to use it for defensive purposes only? TPM Sister #102

Woohooo!! Those are GOOD updates. You'll be officially mobile before you know it. My update is that I still feel like I have as much work on my desk as I started with this morning. How can you work all day long and not get to Item #1 on the top of the "to do" list??? TPM Sister #102

I was able to hear him at a live performance a few years ago and had no idea that it was my last chance. I don't think he has been back to Denver since. I'm so glad I was able to hear that voice for myself and not just through a recording. TPM Sister #102

Ding ding ding! And I missed the most obvious answer to her question: ASK YOUR INSTRUCTOR. TPM Sister #102

There's an old article out there from 2001, which was discussing a pregnant African elephant at the Oakland zoo. The article said, "The staff had no idea she was even pregnant. It's hard to notice a couple of hundred extra pounds on an animal that weighs as much as two Ford Explorers." Is that good enough? http://forests.org/archive/africa/afelslow.htm Edited to fix clicky and to add that I posted this before the whole "seven months" thing came up--but I doubt that changes the answer any!
