  1. Yeah, SURE you're sensitive! Alan Alda in the making. You had to get big points for taking a trip like that, though. What is it you wanted, exactly? It has to be pretty big to merit a trip like this one! TPM Sister #102
  2. Just make sure it doesn't go next to yours, or you'll smell like cigarettes yourself! TPM Sister #102
  3. You're just THIS FAR from making me bitter! How the heck did you get conned into watching a chick flick like that one, though? TPM Sister #102
  4. I wouldn't make him angry. He'll run over you in his Liberty Medical Scooter (which, by the way, was very likely covered by Medicare). . . . TPM Sister #102
  5. Is that sunrise or sunset? I would go, but I might never come back. If you go someplace like that, doesn't it come with a guarantee that you'll get your own feel-good, happy-ending movie that lives up to the locale? TPM Sister #102
  6. GORGEOUS! That's just HORRIBLE vacation temptation right there. I thought my life was really good until you showed me what it could be! (Nah, my life is still great. Doesn't mean I can't be envious!) Edited to add: Where'd the attachment go?!!! Edited again: Okay, it's back. I'm fine. That moment of anxiety is over. TPM Sister #102
  7. Yep. Oh--and dz.com has a tab for "Videos" as well, but I have no idea if people have started posting AFF videos there. TPM Sister #102
  8. You can find some real egos if you look for them, but on the whole, everyone I've encountered seems to be great to work with and learn from. I hope you have a lot more of the positives than the negatives! Just as with anything else, a lot of it is what you make of it.
  9. Do you mean videos of actual AFF jumps, or instructional materials? Skydivingmovies.com is always a good beginning, but Elsinore has some good online information about each level of the AFF progression. TPM Sister #102

    Dear Friend

YOU'RE SO LUCKY!!!!!!!!!!! I NEVER get picked to be the recipient when Prince Malaki's uncle crahes in a plane on a boat near a tree by the lake. Then again, I never send the kind prince my personal information so he can send me the money, either! TPM Sister #102
  11. Have you seen similar problems with sit flying? I didn't have muscle soreness, but I have had my arm ache after flying at higher wind speeds. As I said, it's not muscular--or, at least it doesn't FEEL muscular. I could see it being a pinched nerve kind of thing or something similar, but I've never had it belly flying. TPM Sister #102

    Dog Names

You can only get away with names like that for dogs and cats. Start naming children stuff like that and you can just move into the trailer park now--and not the kind of trailer that skydivers live in, either! TPM Sister #102
  13. LOL Yes, Steph is a hottie . . . you can see where I'm coming from! Oh, and she does yoga. I'm too much for some of the younger guys around there. There's just being too old, and then there's how much they can handle. (HEY--QUIT IT!!!!! I CAN HEAR THE SNICKERING FROM HERE, OKAY?!) Edited to add: So, where I was really going with the yoga comment was that stretching does seem to help. You might try a few light stretches before you get in. In any event, it wouldn't hurt!

I like Smitten--because you have been! TPM Sister #102
  15. You should spend a week going to work with me. You'd meet some amazing souls and realize what you're missing out on by generalizing the elderly this way. I've been working in geriatrics for 8 years. I can count on 1 hand the number of assholes I've treated. I love "old people". They're cool as hell. I suspect it gets a lot harder when you're that age. New pains, things you can no longer fix but have to learn to live with, dealing with people who are impatient or don't understand--or who have given up on doing the right thing because they weren't well-received when they tried to help out once. And, there ARE a lot of people who would take advantage of an older person, just because they could. They're more vulnerable--no wonder they might also be more suspicious. Don't give up on doing the right thing because ONE person didn't want the assistance. The next one might really appreciate it! TPM Sister #102
  16. No matter whether you disagree or not, he's not a troll--and he does have a point. By your own assessment, their skills would take thousands of skydives to achieve. What's wrong with saying so? TPM Sister #102
  17. Relax! They all know me well and I very seriously doubt that I'm going to launch them into self-important, ego-inflated tunnel gods. If that happens, it's definitely not going to be because *I* said anything. Besides, I'd rather over-inflate someone's ego a bit than take them down a notch, and I'm too old for the young 'uns to be impressed that I said anything, anyway. In fact, it might just creep them out a bit! TPM Sister #102
  18. Here you are--it's just a slip opinion: http://www.nycourts.gov/reporter/3dseries/2007/2007_50192.htm TPM Sister #102
  19. Just approach the people you're comfortable with. Maybe they'll be available to help. TPM Sister #102
  20. What about checking with your church? There might be someone willing to help out, and the youth group might also be able to pitch in to split the time . . . if you trust 'em! TPM Sister #102
  21. I'm excited for you--both for having a bit of relief from the headaches and for the prospect of jumping! What great news! TPM Sister #102
  22. Hmmm, must be different at your tunnel. All of ours are athletic, completely toned, and very strong. (I *have* to say that--they know what *I* look like in a jumpsuit!! ) I think the instructor aches and pains are a little bit different than mine. They're getting slammed into the walls a lot more, whether it's from customers or just ongoing training. Seriously, though, tunnel fitness is definitely different than other kinds of fitness. However, I wouldn't mind some more of that tunnel fitness if it resulted in some of the toning our instructors have. I mean, okay, I'd rather look like Steph than some of the men, but you get the gist of it. . . . TPM Sister #102
  23. You'll build up endurance in no time! I'm NOT entitled to claim that I'm in good shape, but most days I can do 15 minutes in the tunnel without getting sore. There are exceptions, like the kind of soreness in the back that you're describing, which I usually experience after getting away from belly flying and then coming back to it again. I don't know that it's building muscle, but you learn not to resist the air so much. (Granted, it's different for the instructors who are in there making spots all day. They're in GREAT shape!) You'll adjust in no time! TPM Sister #102
  24. reply] That one makes me smile as well. *I* did that. I did that even when I was pretty sure I couldn't. Guess what--I'm capable of a lot more than I ever imagined! Funny how someone TELLING you what you're capable of isn't anything like proving it to yourself. TPM Sister #102
  25. That could explain a lot! Thanks. TPM Sister #102
