Where to go for a long beach weekend FROM Singapore?
kaerodyne replied to ntrprnr's topic in The Bonfire
Santosa Island is only a 20min Cab ride from down town Singapore, the Hotels are cheap and the place is great, alot of fun things to do. I spent 2 days there after a trip to Genting for the tunnel. -
I'd suggest either Gravity Gear or Action Air Parachutes both in NorCal and both very good gear stores.

Good choice girl. welcome to the family ... ah, you already part of the family having jumped a Triathlon before you get your Pilot.

Scott I'm glad you have a Smart, forgot that we had spoken via e-mail last year on this very same subject. To give you a better idea of my personal view on the Smart, I had a complete Aerodyne System 4 years ago, way before I worked for them and had two rides on the Smart 120, since I have worked for them I have had one more ride on my smart, all have been sub terminal, I have also taken the 120 and the 110 Smart to terminal on both wingsuit dives and 4-way dives, just to compare the two. I find it to be a consistent, solid, reliable reserve and have had no worries landing my 120 even with 20lbs of lead on. Now I know I might be a little biased due to the fact that i work for them, but having had two rides before this, I have been very happy that I made a Smart choice. All reserves are tested and certified to standards set out by the FAA, our Smart is TSO's under TSO-23D, so if you choose between any of the major manufacturers you would be in safe reliable hands, some Smarter than others ... LOL (sorry could not resist that one) Let me know if you ever fly your Smart, your feed back would be welcome. Marlene I think your on the right track with regards to wanting to demo canopies before you purchase, there are many good, reliable and consistent canopies on the market today. Aerodyne has a great demo program and we would like to work with you on getting a demo Pilot out to you for your evaluation, and we would also appreciate any feed back or comments you would have on the Pilot. When your ready to demo a Pilot, please contact me and I'll get a demo sent. It's almost like xmas shopping but in January Blue Skies Karl Meyer Sales Representative Aerodyne Research Office: 1 813 891 6300 Mobile: 1 813 841 2149 karl@flyaerodyne.com www.flyaerodyne.com

which helmet's collar better for contact wearers?
kaerodyne replied to countzero's topic in Gear and Rigging
Scot I have been jumping a SkySystems Oxygen A3 for over 4yrs now and I have never had any issues with my contacts. The lense is secure enough and the ventalation does not cause any contact related issues. I have even flown my canopy with the visor open before and it was fine. -
Please explain how these comments has anything to do with the purpose of the post Are you avoiding the truth? (see sig line below)

er... good try but i think what you wrote means something different from what you meant to ... In fact the the term Soet Peel and Rooi Nek come from the terms used by the early dutch settlers in South Africa, also known as Afrikaaners to describe the English who settled there. Rooi Nek = Red Neck, it was evident that during their time in South Africa the British would get sunburnt, and mainly on the neck. During the Anglo Boer War, the Boers could tell a Brit due to the Rooi Nek. Soet Peel = Salt Cock, is a term used for the British who had settled in South Africa but still had ties to Britain and tried to live the English lifestyle in South Africa. The meaning was that they had one foot in Britain and the other in Africa and in so doing their balls hung in the ocean (salt water). So to be calling me a Soet Peel, is in a way a correct term, as I'm an English speaking South African who has a direct family tie to the UK.

Rob It's simple to resolve and monitor, have a dedicated ground crew person and state in the safety meeting that no turn past 90 degrees will be permitted, if a jumper does a turn over 90 degrees, then it's a full day on the ground for them. Trust me you'll have a handful of people laugh you off, until you ground the first few people who refuse to understand. In the end of the day the success and safety of this boogie is in your hands and if you need to be a heavy handed then so be it. I have been to boogies and events where world champion skydivers have been grounded for breaking the rules, and after that it was a heads up to every jumper. Lets face it if it's a free for all, and a monkey see monkey do scenario, you will be the one left with the logistical nightmare of trying to get the injured person to the right people etc for treatment. Simple Rules: 1. No more than a 90 degree turn onto final 2. First man down sets pattern into the wind, rest of load follows 3. Report back to manifest after jump, failure to do so is a grounding 4. No spiraling through pattern 5. Have fun and be safe just my random thoughts.
