1 check cleared:0:0 The check was for my container and reserve, so it should be in my hands soon! Oh yeah, I heard a rumor that Sky Knights closed. Is that true? 'Cause I liked the DZ, and it's close to my house, and they have my log book and A card.

More like 20 minutes travelling at a good clip. If the Champaign DZ.commers don't speak up on their own, send me a PM and I'll get you their usernames.

What has nine arms and sucks? And we have our answer.

The basic model is only $14.97. And for a mere $20.02 more, you can upgrade to the deluxe model! Isn't that a small price to make Val happy?

Cargo shorts or cargo pants, depending on the weather. T-shirt, with a sweatshirt on top if it's cold. Whatever cheap rental jumpsuit over it all. Vans for shoes. I also have a pair of cheap Columbia sandals waiting 'till I have a couple of landings on my new canopy.

Understatement! I think polonium was used originally (FatMan style bombs) because it was easier to obtain than Pu in 1945. I believe Pu, which is also an alpha emitter, is used nowadays because it is plentiful. The Be doesn't need to be a special isotope, plain vanilla Be will do. The alphas need to be prevented from reaching the Be until the moment of detonation, but a piece of gold foil will do the trick. My first act as a "Citizen Spy" for the Bush administration will be to report the two of you...

10 minutes or less. It actually takes me longer to walk from my parking spot, go through security, and make my way to my "office" than it does to drive to work.

You can put the proxy on a computer with two interfaces, one upstream with a routable IP address, and one on the internal addresses. Although, in this case, NAT makes far more sense to me than a proxy unless caching to conserve bandwidth is a concern.

Oh, so it's a Wings! I couldn't tell from the pictures, you should have had a few more logos embroidered on it.

If all else fails, there is fairly frequent Amtrak service between Chicago and the downstate abyss, including Rantoul.

$6500 US!! Holy crap. That's more than three times what I spent on all used, and $2500 more than a friend spent on all new gear (Javelin w/ most options, PD reserve, cypres) except for the main. Jeez.

For whatever reason, I seem to get "Why do you even bother to wear a helmet? You know it won't help if you hit the ground going that fast" a lot. Well duh, it keeps me from messing up my hair and losing my goggles!

SQUID doesn't do NAT, it is just a normal HTTP proxy. Which, I guess, is limited NAT on only one port (but not really). You get the advantages of a caching proxy, plus it is easier to set up things like site filtering, limiting unrestricted browsing to certain times or computers, user activity logging, etc. A NAT gateway wouldn't be able to do those things, although you can set up NAT to do some dirty tricks like funnelling all port 80 (HTTP) traffic through a transparent proxy so that users can't just change their browser settings to get unrestricted/unlogged browsing.

So that's what, $1.50 US? No seriously though, since I doubt that the Canadian dollar is really only worth 10 cents to the American dollar, does "grand" mean something other than 1000 in Canadia?

Ok what do you wear On/Around/Next to your head????????

Well, I already have a ProTec and it works just fine. But I broke down and bought a Mindwarp this morning. I hate you people. -
I'd ask somebody to show you how to do it. I read the description (with pictures) in Poynter's book, looked at a web site with instructions (Precision Aerodynamics?), and watched Pack Like a Pro for a few minutes until I realized that I couldn't follow it without a canopy in my hands. I still didn't understand it at all until I took a packing class and had somebody standing over my shoulder showing me what to do and answering my questions.

I really, really, wish I didn't live 5-and-something hours away. Actually, I wish I wasn't required to work at least one day every weekend, then I'd have time to drive down and camp. But it's only a month until school starts again! Tell Terri to ship my damn rig! I don't care if the check hasn't cleared! Uh-oh. I smell a storm brewin'.

Black ProTec with SportRX prescription goggles. Damn bad eyes, I would really like to be able to have more than one pair of goggles to wear (clear, tinted, sunglasses, whatever), but extra script goggles are expensive and contacts drive me insane. To quote another poster, "I look like an alien with Downs Syndrome," when I'm geared up, but it works just fine. -
Unless you have a DVD player were you can turn off the Macrovision copy protection, you will get low quality copies. That said... Don't steal from Joe Jennings and other freefall camera guys, k? They need to sell these videos to feed their families and fund more cool video projects.

1 check receieved by the DZ : 0 : 0 Not too bad. My container and reserve ship as soon as the check clears (Monday or Tuesday). Still shopping around on a main. I basically have it narrowed down to a 400 jump Sabre, 300 jump Spectre, or 15 jump Hornet. I'll probably go with one of the PD canopies. Do I want casual CReW, or do I want to get back from the long spots? Too many damn decisions. Maybe I'll just flip a coin or something. Just need one more paycheck to finish getting a jumpable rig together.

I used to spin off the step. It turns out I was pushing off unevenly. I solved it by not pushing, but just letting go. Let go, arch, arms out, feet on your butt. Somewhere between letting go and arching you'll fall off the step and start to slide down the hill. Transition to the box once you pick up some airspeed. And the standard advice: Talk to you intructors. Have somebody exit after you so that they can watch your exit and give you pointers.

This guy learned his lesson.

Saw the flick tonight. One word review: Mediocre. The jumpers in the movie were wearing camera suits, standard sport rigs, and fullface helmets (possibly Z1s). It had the Hollywood standard 2 minute freefall from five grand. I couldn't tell if any of the skydiving sequence was shot in freefall, or if it was all special effects. My friends dragged me out before I could watch the creds for a Freefall Photography credit.

Whats good? I'm liking my job again. I have a container and reserve on the way. As soon as I get my next paycheck I'm buying a main. I might even have enough cash left over to jump it a few times.
