  1. That sounds like a better idea. Still here after all these years Clayton
  2. I have never seen this , But you might could use a small piece of surgical tubing to slide over this area. just an idea. Not really sure if that would work or not but it seems like it would. As always check with a qualified rigger before modifying anything. Still here after all these years Clayton
  3. I use a Sony TRV 19 and it does a pretty good job for the money, It does not have a lot of extra features, But if your using a computor program for editing you really don't need them. You can find them new for around $400.00 if you look around on the internet. Still here after all these years Clayton
  4. I am 250lbs, out the door. I jump a Mirage & Jav Od. both with mini rings and risers & soft links. One with Xaos 120 and the other a Xaos 104. never had any problems with either. But I do inspect my equipment regularly. and have recently replaced the risers on the mirage, even though the old ones still looked good. Still here after all these years Clayton

  8. I have had 4 that I let go, I admit that the first 2 I could have probably kept but they were both before 300 jumps and I was still too green to try anything else, the last 2 were at around 900 and 1100, both of those were under a highly loaded canopy ( 2.4 ) and things went to shit too fast. I still believe I did the right thing cause I am still here. Still here after all these years Clayton
  9. Ok something to share, I sent my 2nd container in to Mirage to have it resized, I bought this container new 5 years ago and since then Offshore life has increased my size a little. This container was built on my birthday so I plan on keeping it for my 2nd rig. The resize was supposed to cost me $225.00. But there are things that I did not consider and thus the price increased. The old harness could not be let out without them having to replace the entire harness, Then a new back pad had to be built, along with new stabilizer, and then since the harness was longer, none of the existing handles were long enough so they had to replace the housings and put new cut away and reserve handles. All in all I just about got a new rig, The price was higher of course, $413.00 But for what I got I am not complaining, I had called and talked to Connie at Mirage and since they had not contacted me to inform me of all the changes this required they knocked a $100.00 off. But instead of taking the discount they are going to send me a new set of 22 inch riser. Connie and Justin was very helpful. I am very pleased with the end results and now will have another New rig, Practically. Anyway I just wanted to raise awareness to anyone else who may have to have this done, There is sometimes more to it than you may think. Still here after all these years Clayton
  10. The point I am trying to make is This, One of the things that I love so much about this sport is the people. There is no reason for anyone to cut someone down for the way they look, spell or how they fly, We should all do our very best to be helpful every chance we get. And there are ways to get your point across without taking shots at how a person spells. It's not like anyone could not understand what this person was trying to say. 11. I also have stalled my canopy many times, But Never I repeat Never at or even close to a 1000 feet, I would not recomend anyone doing this, It is too low should something go wrong. This is something that needs to be done above the hard deck. or higher so should something go wrong you have time to respond. Still here after all these years Clayton
  12. Putting a person down for the way they spell or there use of proper grammer, Is not helping anyone, Not everyone that skydives is a collage graduate, and no one deserves that kind of response. you can a make a point without trying to cut someone down. Still here after all these years Clayton
  13. Ok, I thought that I would share this with everyone. Last weekend I was lucky enough to get off, So I went to the D/Z to do some jumping. It was pretty windy, 10 to 15 knots, And I had planned on doing Hop and Pops and working on swooping, Well after getting to the D/Z, I decided to do some free flying with my friends. Well first load everything was fine. Had a killer cross wind swoop, But I seemed to moving much faster when I leveled out from a 270. I didn't think too much about it I just thought that maybe the winds might be pushing me a little more than I expected. Anyway Next load, I was setting up to do another 270 but due to traffic had to abort. (I usually do a R. Hand 270, If I am in traffic I can always do a left hand 90 and still land where I plan) Well due to other canopies I aborted my usual and did a 90 left to land, I never have a problem with winds when I do a 270 due to the speed that I have. But when I did the 90 left I did not have near the speed and the winds affected my landing. Long story made short I really busted my ass, rolled end over end several times, ( Packed Mud in My new camera) Still works though, And got loud round of clapping and hoots from everyone. This incident made me really think about what I did, It also humbled me quite a bit. I should have thought out all the what if's before I decided to skydive that day with the winds like they were. And I learned a good lesson. Hope this helps anyone else out there think before they go for it. Also I would have never thought that I would bust my ass doing a slower set up for landing, But I did. sometimes trying to be conservitve can bite your ass just as easy. 20. I Use a Packer and I hook the mat up for him most the time unless I am in a hurry or rushed, The guy that packs for me has been doing so for a long time and he does not mind to hook it up if needed. But I have been places that the packers want to charge more for stuff like that. But I pack for myself most of the time that I am away from the home D/Z. Still here after all these years Clayton

  23. I think that this is something that has been long over due. As someone who HAS recently lost a good friend in this sport, WE as a community need to take it upon ourselves to help keep preventable accidents from taking place in the future. IN doing this we may at times get a lot of Flak from those we are trying to assist or help. But if in doing so you stop just one accident from happening, Then it would be well worth it.
