    It matters A LOT how long someone has been clean and sober. IF you are clean and sober you should know this. And, just for your information, I try not to sit anywhere near smokers. And, just for the record, I AM NOT contradicting whether she is clean or not. Only she, or someone with a lab test, can make that call. Skydivers don't knock on Death's door.     There is nothing you can do. What you are dealing with is belief. Once a person believes something, there is no amount of fact, logic, reason or truth that will persuade them. The best thing to do is to hide your jumping activity as much as possible until such time that you are fully out of the house and even then just don't mention it.     Actually, I saw it with my girlfriend and her grand daughter. The kids were all squirming and bored after the first 1/2 hour. The adults, me included, had a good time.     Your professor has bad data. The number of jumps is way low. Off the top of my head, the numbers for 1999 were 28 fatalities for 3.5 million jumps. That gives a rate of 1:115,000.     I'm surprised that this hasn't happened in Baltimore County, MD yet. We must get a dozen calls a day from people that we take to the hospital via medic unit and get put in the triage system. They then call back to 911 to get transoprted to another hospital. We, by policy, don't honor those requests, so I'm really surprised we haven't had to deal with that yet.     I've never had anything like that, but my family makes it abundantly clear that they don't want to hear about my jumping. Their attitude is that if I don't talk about it, then it will go away and I'll become an office working, suburban living, minivan driving, church going baby factory republican just like them.     It always amazes me about how easily physics people forget about the atmosphere. Even when said person seems to remeber about it, as soon as they get past the first orpeation, the atmosphere disappears from the thought process. The reason why heavier people fall faster than light ones who are the same size has to do with the amount of mass for surface area.
