1. security at a nursing home. 2. No regular hours. Only part time/on call status with no path to full time. 3. If I didn't have a $20K divorce bill, I'd might not need a full time gig, but for the near future I do. Jumping and most other recreational activities are a thing of the past. 4. Nope. I can use a computer but not program them. I took the wrong major in college ( Exercise physiology). Utterly useless degree. Even worse than basket weaving. A little over one year. My parents told me they went to the funeral with me in their arms. Hunt Valley MD, watched it live on a demo set in Sears. Univeristy of MD, College Park. Try being a career firefighter. I was unable to get life insurance at any price during my career. Now that I'm retired, they won't sell to me because I jump, SCUBA and do marathon cycling. So, I still have the group plan from the FD. Not a bad plan but not much on the payout side either. It will only pay 2x my max salary. Not that it matters, I'm divorced with no kids, but still it's the whole irrationality of ins that makes me wonder.. Skydivers don't knock on Death's door. They ring the bell and runaway... Why are you wanting to learn to jump as part of pilot training? In answer to your questions: 1. The wind noise in Freefall is extremely loud. The only time you can hear anything but the wind, is under some exact conditions during a tandem jump. 2. Yeah, it can get frosty up there even ona hot day but you're not out in its long enough to do any real damage in summer time. Mostly it feels good. 3. Yes, it is possible for a jumper at terminal velocity to dent the planet. I've seen it. Skydivers don't knock on Death's door. They ring the bell and runaway... Also the stupidity of the government procurement process. You can sell anything to the state at any price without regard for quality or function. Been a problem ever since the civil war. It was a Cr22 or something like that. You didn't need tp be tall to not fit. I'm only 5'4" and had to hang my legs out on the ride up. Very sketchy exit too. Skydivers don't knock on Death's door.
