Just curious on this point: Any particular reason, if you don't mind I asking :)? My choice as their parent. Just like my oldest has to wait to get a tattoo.....first it was until he was 18 .... now it is until he has the money to pay for it. - and yes i have several tattoos as well - but again.....It was a decision I made as an adult. Once you become a parent you may understand...... children change your life and your priorities. eta: thanks flyangel for taking that response...haven't been able to get back to the computer until late tonight. Korbin....I don't let my kids take those kind of risks because at the age of 16 they truly don't understand them - this is my opinion about my kids - I acknowledge that you may be a rarity but if you knew my kids you would understand.......I can educated them about it, and I do so that they have a better understanding but honestly I just don't think that they are mature enough to handle that risk. Again, I acknowledge that you may be different....but you wanted to know why I don't let my kids do it until they are of age....because they lack the maturity to handle the consequences of a decision that can be a life and death decision. will that change in two years time....probably not, but they will be older, wiser (i hope) and have more experiences to draw on to make better decisions in their life. good luck to you - where ever you land. blue skies.... The point I really intended to make was that there was some impaired logic on this "contracts are not valid" business. I did search, and nothing actually goes into much detail about it, because, well: quite frankly, it doesn't matter to most; it just doesn't concern them. This was just the prelim research that I did, I'll talk it over at lunch tomorrow with an attorney friend in my office. (Tort) And on that note, myself, or any lawyer can't make the distinction of what's legal on this regard and what's not unless it is clearly laid down or preceded enough: and it hasn't been. Nobody is determining anything: this is just my, and four unique states' courts' decisions on the issue. It just is really upsetting. I hear "wait wait wait." In all genuine honesty not trying to troll. I'm trying to be as sincere as possible, since it probably could look like that. But in either case, for the basis of the conversation, there really is no trolling "motive." This isn't a controversial topic, it's fairly black and white. unfortunately there have been people here who have posed....not that you are mind you...but you speak very eloquently for your age - hence the suspicion. as for actual case law....mmmm.....most of us have learned to skydive as adults so it doesn't really apply to us....unless we want our children to jump...and mine have to wait until their 18. It is interesting though as I have some friends who have had their children certified to scuba dive - under the age of 18. mmm...haven't seen many 16 year olds research case law to determine wether or not the liability waiver is sufficient or not for you to be able to learn to skydive. you are quite unusual in that respect - hence the comment about trolling. if you are who you say you are kudos to you for researching what you want to do before you get into it. our dz doesn't take anyone under 18 and there are very few that do....but this subject has been breached before and fairly recently - in the last couple of months if I remember correctly....do a search on the site, some of your answers may be there. Thank you for that. I'd never heard of this person. Not only is she 4'11" and hot, but she's also cool with nudity. How did I not hear of her before this??! Blues, Dave If i remember right she did a reality tv show for a while too on MTV - finding love with tila tequila. 1/2 the contestants were chicks and the other 1/2 were guys. we once had a guy hook up a parachute to a shopping cart when the winds were about 40mph...took it out on the runway and everything. Still thinking of you all a year later. I have been thinking about this incident alot this week esp with the Star Boogie coming up. I didn't know any of the jumpers but it is one of the incidences that has definitely affected me. I had the pleasure of meeting Michelle's mom and sister at Lost Prairie this year. My prayers are with all of the victim's famililes and friends this week. For me it is a necessity. I work in the ER...both "fast track" and "peds"....peds is like a giant germ factory. I have seen first hand what people look like when they get the flu - yuck! I don't want that crap. Some people have a tendancy to forget their manners in the emergency department and they cough right in your face - kids just don't know any better most of the time. Some people may find that it isn't for them - especially if they have a profession where there risk of exposure is minimal. I am sure that if I wasn't in healthcare I may not do it - depending on what my other profession may entail. Influenza kills people annually - usually they are immunocompromised in some way......but you always hear that pandemic flu will rear its ugly little head again some day....and since I will be taking care of those people I would want to be as protected as I can be. Will it actually occur? Who knows. Hmmmm. I learned a bit about getting into trouble at Chicks Rock. LisaH is a corrupting influence. Her and her friend Jack. shhhhh.....don't tell anyone but I am secretly in love with Lisa's jack. we will be down at the invasion dec 29th-jan 9th. the invasion is over on the 5th.....think about it.....florida, skydiving, me, doc and a big crew from crosskeys and chicago....plus who ever else feels like coming out to play.
