Baby jumper here but this is what I have found for me 1.) I almost always pack my own rig unless I have done a lot of jumping during the day.....it always takes me a long time to pack, but don't really care as packing is relaxing to me and it has its own therapy. My hubby will sometimes pack my rig for me......mostly because I am slow at it and he wants me to get on the next load with him. I have also packed his rig for him a couple of times. I am neurotic about my packing....if i don't like the way it packed, it comes out and I start over again. 2.) I think most people do a tandem to say that they did it......and if it really touches their soul they take the first jump course. 3.) the chances of gettting HIV/Hepatitis are pretty remote from that kind of exposure.....I don't have the exact figures but it is pretty slim..... Here is another thought.....could you live with the guilt of not trying to help someone out? Just got done with the masters' but worked as a nurse for 12 years in between....very glad to be done with it - they are wanting NPs to get a doctorate as of 2015 - I will be "grandfathered in".....but may go back for the doctorate eventually.
