  1. Not me, Tim. I would never jump either of my rigs without the excess stowed. I simply cannot afford brake fires in a wingsuit rig and I don't WANT to have to deal with any more on my other rig with the crossbraced main in it. What do I do? On my Sunrise (Wings) risers the toggles have two sets of tits. The top tit is stowed in the top elastic keeper and the bottom of the toggle sticks upwards into a lower one. I feed my excess brake lines downward through the lower elastic keeper before sticking the bottom-of-toggle tit upward into it to lock it off. It's very secure. Unlike you, apparently, I HAVE had some brake fires in the past on poorly-designed riser/toggle/stowage setups. The stock system combined with the way I stow my excess is very secure and super simple. Again, I can't afford brake fires, so I make damn sure mine are as secure as possible. Gary, I cannot envision a place where people actually think it's cool to leave that shit flapping. I set my own brakes even if I am lazy these days and pay packers alot. When they used to try to beat me to the task, I had to stop them and show them exactly what I expected and why it was a better way than they were using on other rigs. They all get it now and know that I won't accept it any other way. Chuck
  2. We can only have six characters here in FL as well (it was the same in NC).
  3. That package you linked to was designed and tested by Mike Forsyth so he could jump in his Search and Rescue dog. Mike was never in the military. He was/is a FEMA guy. Chuck
  4. I am not sure what his exact circumstances are since he's not really retiring from active duty. What I CAN tell you, though, is that "you are not out till you are out." You are not out until you have signed your final out and have been given your certified copy of your DD 214. That's how it works on the active duty side anyway. I am not exactly sure what you are implying that he owes them. Are you saying that they do not have his final out paperwork completed? With us, it's a backwards planning process. -Submit 4187 requesting retirement on a certain date (including back-dating for terminal leave and permissive TDY). This, of course, only possible if your MOS is not stop-lossed because of the war. -wait for your paperwork to be signed up to the O6 level (I walked mine through). -wait for PAC to submit your signed 4187 retirement packet to retirement services. -get your orders cut by retirement services and make appointments -attend mandatory pre-retirement briefings, physicals, etc. -get your clearing papers ten days out -clear your unit and post -show up in uniform for your final out, get your DD-214, say good bye -get on with the rest of your life Chuck Blue SFC (ret)
  5. Mike is great, but don't let that fucker navigate! Caw Caw! Actually, make him backfly all the time now that we forced him into it on his last trip here. He did good!
  6. Since we are already on some wild tangents here, I will concur with you about frap hat mold and deterioration. I wore mine so much the leather just rotted away at the brow. No problem; I just zig-zagged over it over and over and hit the leading edge with a binding tape machine. Alas, I guess I finally totally lost that one (it was blue with orange "arrows"). Sad, since I was going to permanently sew my muffs to it for those special Muff Brother dives. Chuck
  7. The end of June is some time away, brother! Plus, we will be going out to SkyFest/SkyFlock in Texas two weeks later. Still, I would love to come and visit.
  8. Plus, you will be able to eat Monkey Fries at Aviators on the DZ! A brilliant plan if you ask me. Chuckie
  9. Dude, you are a bit chunky these days!
  10. Some take to it very naturally. Good for them I say.
  11. Not the book, no. But a signed and numbered limited edition litho, yes. No, it's not for sale.
  12. That's exactly what I recommend. Seriously.
  13. At Z-hills (where I live and play at working), our packing concession sells packing tickets which you place on your rig as you lay it down. Most people buy a bunch of tickets up front so that they don't have to screw around and buy one everytime they drop their rig off. Either way, it's not going to get packed unless there is a ticket on the rig (or you pay a lump sum in advance and work off the ballance on account like I do). Chuck
  14. I think Kevin USED to have a larger Classic II for demo, but that was a few years ago. Who knows what he has these days. Chuck
  15. Ah! another one sticks her head out from under a rock! Do you STILL love Seth? The nerve of these kids, eh?
  16. I have never heard of anyone "cutting away" a hand cam setup. There are people who read this forum with well over 1000 such jumps; hopefully they will pipe in. Me? I have never had any instances where my hand cam worried me. That said, I only have around 40 such jumps using my glove.
  17. Use the packer who does all the AFFI and video guys' rigs. Those are the people who have proven themselves "most reliable." Working skydivers don't have time to fuck around with novice packers or those who routinely pack shit openings or have a high mal rate. Chuck
  18. That's awesome. Tell them all I said "hello", Kirk! I just saw Jeffro, TJ, and the rest of them at PIA.
  19. Have fun, brother!! Drop by Z-hills sometime and visit!
  20. No, but Keith is definitely a homo.
