  1. Don't sweat this. That main will become part of the Demo fleet and you will be hooked up in no time. I am assuming you have already contacted Dan directly? PM me and give me the skinny. Chuck And, YES, I have had the exact same thing happen to me. Wrong color ribs and stabs on a Monarch 135 I had ordered many moons ago. My webpage HERE
  2. Dave, my brother! The truly in-tune poster would have printed out the thread where we all gave our instant messenger handles. Not sure about you, but everytime I sign on I get IM'd by my fellow Dropzone.com junkies. Sincerely, C.Blue, esquire King of all Skymonkeys My webpage HERE
  3. Agreed. I believe I sold my last rig with a round reserve in 1990. No reason to hose yourself in this manner, especially when the smart shopper can score used modern square reserves for $400 or less. Chuck My webpage HERE
  4. I have jumped ZP pilot chutes since their inception and see no reason whatsoever to jump F-111 anymore. Too much snatch force with the ZP you have? No prob; get a smaller one. I jump Cazer collapsables; normally in 22". Odd story: before Gunter Worlein was prohibited from re-badging and marketing Atair canopies here in the USA, he would only sell you an Alpha if you bought an F-111 collapsable. I though this ludicrous, but bit anyway and jumped it for quite a while (for me, anyway
  5. Just got back to Fayettenam from Atlanta, by way of Savannah. Talk about bittersweet! First off, it was outstanding having most everyone on my mothers side of the family in one place at the same time. That has not happened in at least 10 years. Sad thing is that my parent's (mom and stepdad) dog, a very old Cocker Spaniel that was suffering from cataracts (sic?), couldn't barely hear, and had some serious arthritis, walked out into traffic yesterday morning just as we were all pulling pitch and leaving. Dead as a door nail. My parents were wrecked! I ended up collecting the pooch out of the road and packaging him for burial. Very sad. I also had a motorcycle club buddy die in his sleep in Savannah last Wednesday. Had planned on making the viewing and the grave-side service, but my prospect failed to call me in Atlanta with the times, so my wife and I missed the whole thing. Re-routed anyway and stayed all last night at the wake. Haven't slept in two days and I have got to be at another Thanksgiving function in one hour. Very odd times. Hope you all had a pleasant Turkey Day with your loved ones. As I understand it, Canadians actually celebrate Thanksgiving a month earlier than we do. Is that correct? And you "foreigners", do you have a similar holiday? "it's better to burn out than fade away" Chuck My webpage HERE
  6. RIGHT ON, DAVE! Especially at laid back dropzones with great bars and plenty of shit to get into when the doors close. Raeford is shangri-la in this aspect. Perris kicks ass too, even though it is more of a "boutique". Nothing like getting hammered at the DZ on free beer bought by students and intermediates for all their "firsts"! Here, we try and get people conditioned early on in their jumping careers that camping on the DZ is where it's at. Screw driving 20 miles back into town on a heavilly patrolled road. Me and my wife always seem to have strays staying in our RV. Chuck My webpage HERE
  7. RGOPER, Hey dude, fuck off and die. If you can't handle the heat get out of the kitchen. Are you sure you are not the incarnation of Chris Sayre, AKA: Spectre230? Chuck Blue D-12501 I-2001, TM-I, professional swooper, and general man-about- town. Skydiving since you were shitting green. Raeford Parachute Center, NC My webpage HERE
  8. That is exactly what I mean. Chuck My webpage HERE
  9. William, you are correct in saying that this is probably not a fair comparison. Still, Tony Canant flies a STOCK Cobalt 65 loaded at 2.8 and lands it easilly. Before I modified my "stock" Cobalt 75 to the "H"-mod, I was easilly landing it at 2.4, even straight in. Is that more the type of comparison you were looking for? Chuck My webpage HERE
  10. Enough with the negative vibes, Moriarty! My webpage HERE
  11. As posted in another thread, I have landed a Competition Cobalt 65 loaded at 2.8 straight in. I normally jump a Cobalt 75 loaded at 2.4. I can land it safely in any direction I choose; upwind, downwind, crosswind. The safety comes from years of practice under small parachutes. Still, I have no problem with intermediates getting a one size smaller Cobalt than any other "new" main they might be considering. A 2.0 wingload landing under a Cobalt is much less work than a 1.6 under say, a Stilleto. How do I know? Well, I jumped Stilletos (a 107 and a 97) for six years prior to my first Atair canopy (an Alpha 84). While they were fun, it was not uncommon for them to bowtie at the end of the surf if I tried to milk every last foot out of the surf. Bottom line is that you cannot compare wingloads straight across on different airfoils. Chuck My webpage HERE
  12. I agree with Dan 100%, and not because he sponsors me. The Cobalt flies much bigger than same-sized parachutes due to it's very-efficient airfoil and the way the jumper is suspended farther back under the canopy. The analogy that the Crossfire flies like the stock Cobalt is basically true, however in order to get that same "feeling" you must be jumping different sized chutes. That is to say a Crossfire 85 (or whatever the closest size is to that) flies very similar to a Cobalt 75. You wouldn't catch me dead under a Crossfire 65 (if they made one), but I put about 50 jumps on a Cobalt 65 with no problems whatsoever. Is a Cobalt a fully elliptical main? Yes. Is it still considered a high performance main even when mildly loaded? I would say so, BUT the parachute is generally VERY docile and must be worked pretty hard at lighter wingloads to get the speed you would normally get with a similarly sized main of different design. It is for that reason that the airfoil is marketed at both the intermediate and advanced/pro jumpers. It is a COMPLETELY different animal when loaded at 1.5 compared to 2.3. I have loaded a Competition Cobalt 65 to 2.8 and landed it straight in. Try that with a Crossfire/ Stilleto/ Vengeance. Did I mention that I would be competing under a x-braced tricell Atair canopy next season? Chuck My webpage HERE
  13. It's pissing rain here in Conyers, right outside Atlanta. Not supposed to stop till at least Sunday, so I am rolling back north to NC late this evening or tomorrow. Any word from Louisburg? Chuck My webpage HERE
  14. Brother, you wouldn't have caught me there in a million years. I am supremely disinterested in the political machine. Besides, who wanted to sit on a bus for the 45 minute ride out to Camp Mackal? Not me. Especially when I had a five hour drive ahead of me. Carlos Azul at your service. My webpage HERE

  18. While a pilot, I am certainly no fighter jock; nor would I really want to be if being a military pilot were my chosen profession. The smart pilot would choose the Airforce and ask to fly big transport jets so that he could rack up the the right kind of hours for when he goes looking for that airline job at retirement. Also, screw being on a float; you are not going to get any skydives out at sea. Chuck My webpage HERE
