  1. Ah. Last I saw you was in November 2001 during the PPPB meet. You were working the Perris store then. Chuck
  2. Keely, do you not work at square one on the dropzone. anymore?
  3. I roll my elbows forward and sort of lead with my wrist bones on my SF3.
  4. Of course they do. That was a very-unfortunate freak accident. Doing otherwise would be like having them stop flying in planes altogether after the DC-3 disaster so long ago. By the way, Dana is a good friend of mine.
  5. I know that I use exactly that combo
  6. That looks like the "come to Betsy" pose. I now also know where that Mirage you were talking about went to...
  7. A new member of the GK 8-way team, Scott Janise, made his maiden flight yesterday afternoon during a break in training. Needless to say, he was instantly hooked. I trained him some months ago on a rainy day (along with another of his teammates), but he just got around to thinking about it. In my old Classic, he flew to an average of 65 mph vertical; not bad for a first flight. There was actually talk some time ago about getting wingsuits for the demo teams. This, in order to get an even more dramatic separation during "the diamond track." As the new team commander is a pretty good friend of mine, I think I might have to put that bug back in his ear. Chuck
  8. Voice of experience: never sell your last rig. Especially if it's one you got as a present from your dad. I made that mistake.......once.
  9. Stop the games. What is hidden and how do I find it using my computer DVD player? I don't like games, so give up the poop. Chuck
  10. Everyone in my family other than my mother has at least 100 skydives. Both of my sisters jumped and flew airplanes up until the point that they figured out that there was no further reason to continue; they had both bagged action-guy husbands. One married a rugby player and the other married a more senior skydiver. Both sisters still skydive for shits and grins when we have a family event, but don't really have time nowadays to continue on a regular basis. My brother in law is in the same category. My dad is 67 and still jumps his ass off. Chuck
  11. My dad was an E7 SF guy with over 1000 jumps when I was born. I had about 100 jumps when I went to jump school as a SP4 in 1984.. I would say, as a long-time instructor at the green beret parachute club, that what brings people in the military into skydiving is exposure to the sport . Back in the day, every jump shool student got to see the Silver Wings jump either into the welcome greeting or graduation (in front of building 4). Another key factor is whether or not they came in contact with skydivers when they got to their first assignment after jump school. I worked down there one time for three months, TDY, and directly after that, plenty of people came around the club. Others heard from them, thus keeping the pool of new jumpers replenished. Advertising and "tooting your own horn" really brings potential students out of the woodwork. Chuck
  12. This is neither the Talkback nor Freefly forum. Don't post whore here just for the sake of seeing yourself online or racking up numbers. While I do love mindless banter in the right context, I could care less how many total posts we accumulate. Feel free to knock yourself out in talkback or via PM, but I would prefer to keep this and the other topical forums,as free of clutter as possible. Still, I don't know; if enough birdies think it's best to become like the Freefly forum, I might allow a bit more levity. PM me with your thoughts. Don't clutter this thread with your responses. Chuck (the overlord)
  13. The bunky, known here as "The Reaford Hilton" should absolutely be done by then. It is very, very near completion right now. Chuck
  14. Not sure about everywhere else, but we only fly our Cessnas to ten-five. It just takes too much longer to quantify climbing an extra two thousand feet, especially in hot weather. That said, it's just as easy to do AFF out of a Cessna 182. I find both exits equally easy as an instructor. Chuck
  15. I have written and deleted three different posts in response to the sisters. None, I decided, needed to be said by me. Bottom line here is that the incidents forum needs to be considered "the clinic", not "the church." I found nothing untoward in Ron Hill's post that deserved some of the flippant remarks it drew. Ron is, in fact, plenty qualified to ask the questions he did, so personal attacks on HIS qualifications are likewise uncalled for. This, the talkback forum, is where we send our wishes for a speedy recovery or condolences. That being said, I wish a speedy recovery to Duey and best wishes to his family. Chuck
  16. I was like: "CHECK IT!"
  17. Lance "swoop" Kerwin was the star of that show. Very nicely put together.
  18. The following is a very-real quote from my dad: "Boy, I was man enough to bring you into this world; I am certainly man enough to take you out of it." I came out just fine, thank you very much.
