  1. I have a packboy and never use the thing. It takes me far longer to route the thing than it does for me to simply use a pullup cord. On Sigmas they take even longer to route, so all I use is a long piece of spectra line. Got soft hands? Go dig some post holes and break them in. Chuck
  2. That, of course, means that she had to drive within twenty miles of my dropzone on two occasions; on the way there and on the way home. Not even a phone call. No problem, I have got HER number.... Chuck
  3. I have a PRO rating and have met the qualifications to jump my primary demo main (StarTrac 1), as small as my old H-mod Cobalt 75, and as big as my Sigma 370 and MC-4 (375). I have also jumped into more than a few bowl stadiums. That said, even though I have the qualifications to do so, I would never consider putting anything other than my "real" demo main into a bowl stadium. Off topic a tad maybe, but I thought that was definitely worth a comment. Chuck
  4. You will pay for that indescretion, young padawon. Bring the booze.
  5. Not military smoke. it's activated by means of a striker and a primer sort of like in the back of a bullet. Once it's burning (yes, it burns), there is no turning it off, just like the solid rocket boosters on a spacecraft. Still, there are skywriting groups out there that fly around in formation and lay out computer choreographed smoke generators. I saw the system in action over somewhere in New Jersey on my way back from The Ranch one year. Chuck
  6. Personally, I didn't see any problem with your first post. Chuck
  7. Saturday morning The weather fucking sucks ass What the fuck, over? Wish the sun would shine I want to get my jump on fly my birdman suit Storm watch all day long Hope this shit blows out of here it's been a wet year
  8. Chris, SadSue is a real, female, skydiver. I have actually even spoken with her on the phone. Nice accent by the way, Sue. Cheers, Chuck
  9. I am the complete Smith's (and Morrisey) fan. That, New Order, Camoflague, Depeche Mode, Buisness and Industry, etc. My ex-wife hated that shit. Chuck
  10. In that case, it sucks to be you. I have trained at least 10 sub-18 year old AFF students this year. Nine are students at a military academy. Chuck
  11. Richard, I didn't move that post, but I will say that dragging that link over here to our site made it much easier for "those reporters" to find. I think a better option, if you were just looking for information, would have been to just ask a question and not refer to the link. Chuck
  12. There are a lot of dropzones that train 16 year olds to skydive; this is one of them. It's silly in my opinion that we are not allowed to do tandems till 18. Chuck Blue Raeford Parachute Center, NC
  13. Just fingers, Dave? Who do you know that just does that? My hands are always all the way in my toggles and are held in place by my pinkie finger when I am using my dive loops with my other three fingers on the hand. Chuck
  14. Crossbraced canopies pack quite a bit bigger than same-sized, non-braced canopies. Most do dive longer as well. Crossbracing is designed to keep the wing more rigid, thus allowing a flatter, more aerodynamic airfoil and one which won't distort under heavier loads. You don't need to be buying a crossbraced canopy and try to "ease into it". You had better be wringing the piss out of whatever you are currently jumping prior to investing (they are VERY expensive comparitively) in a braced canopy. They should absolutely NOT be a vanity purchase. There are far better choices for skydivers who are not in that very-small niche who "just want to swoop." Chuck
  15. I watched the video; it's very nice. Chuck
  16. "Back in the day" when Tony Thacker was a looper of national promenence, he asked a rig manufacturer to make him a rig with the main on top and the reserve on bottom. This, so that he would be more streamlined in the style tuck. Anyone ever at Raeford can fell free to ask him personally about it. He also posts on here at "TonyT". Chuck
  17. I generally pack for myself because I don't trust hardly anyone to pack a small Velocity (other than one of my school packers), I generally have time to pack for myself anyway (except back to backs), and packing keeps me in better shape that just sitting on my ass and drinking a coke. Chuck
