  1. No, Michael is correct......to a degree. I am not going to require anyone to fly with a BMI if they have already lived through a first flight on ANY other suit. Our suits are different enough from one another that the ground course on our suit will still be a prerequisite, as will the ten dollar per jump suit rental. That said, the ground course will likely only be $20 this year (ten less than last year). Chuck Blue BMCI
  2. That's a really nice group of pics!
  3. done before, but I still totally fell for it.
  4. We do two: one from 5000 (or 5500) and the next one from 4000 (or 4500). The goal is the same on both: get out stable and immediately deploy (within five seconds). If you zoo the exit on the first one, you have plenty of time to get flipped over and stable for the pull. The second one simply allows less "fluff" altitude. Straight off the A card.
  5. Along the same lines, whatever happened to all the kids who walked around neighborhoods pushing a lawn mower who would cut your grass for five or ten bucks (like I did when I was a kid)? Yep, all the "kid" jobs have been taken over by grown-ups these days. It's no wonder why there are so many worthless hoodlums walking around in packs and posturing on street corners; they had no direction as children. I have had one kid in the past ten years show up at my front door with a lawnmower. I had just cut my grass, but I gladly gave the kid a rake and put him to work. I applauded his initiative. The money I made as a child doing throwing papers and cutting grass bought every bit of the firecrackers, bubble gum, and gas for my motorcycle during the summer break. Chuck
  6. And speaking of "hookups", I hope my boy Big Mikey Forsyth chooses MY Racer tandem to repack at the demo in Ramtool! It would be a shame to repack an ugly rig when mine is so goddamn sexy. Chuckie
  7. Fordy, I thought you were still on active duty; what up with the chops?
  8. I do a lot of C182 tandems during the week when there isn't enough traffic to keep the Otter up. I always have them sit on their heels like a baseball catcher out on the step, then I put my left foot out and dive to the rear. I have never been "taken on a ride" out of a Cessna. Chuck
  9. I have never seen a set of "E's" on a VX, FX, or any Xaos, nor have I seen the other mod I was talking about.
  10. that's a good looking bird.
  11. I doubt it. I am not a fan of E-line mods as they lull you into thinking it's OK to dig out of a corner on rears. On that note though, Joe Bennet's canopy has a really neat line mod which really helps out in today's earlier-transition-back-to-toggles distance runs. It's a sort of reverse e-line that deflects the D-lines down with the tail after you pull a certain distance on the toggles. MUCH more "popping" and stopping power, but at the cost of heavier toggle pressure. MEL does that mod as well.
  12. Actually, the PD reserve flies and lands fantastically. The same can't be said for most other reserves. I landed my old Tempo 120's fine, but I can swoop the piss out of my PD reserves.
  13. Another good reason why we always put our passengers in RW jumpsuits at Raeford. Having them grab the leg grippers near the knees and pulling up prior to landing generally always works for those "round" people.
  14. I don't know about the 16" longer thing. Look at all the pics of the comp on Chris Norton's site and tell me if you think the lines on the new Blue flight one canopies look any longer than the ones on any other "older" sponsored PD mains. Chuck
  15. Nice one. What the hell is up with that very-busy face shield on the one guy? Ugh.
  16. No, not yet you can't. In the very-near future you will be able to order a competiton Velo with an RDS and HMA though. Hopefully, when that is released you will be able to send yours back for retrofit. If you are not willing to wait, you can send your canopy down to MEL at Skyworks in Chester, SC and he will install you a set anytime you like. He and Joe Bennet put together a set of 330 HMA for Joe's Velo right before Wildwood. His number is:803-377-2705 Chuck
  17. I know very few people who haven't taken a reserve ride in a wingsuit. Generally they happen due to irrecoverable linetwists under small, potentially-spinny mains. I chopped twice under a Cobalt 75 (two years ago), Jari has chopped a Velo 75, MonkeyLip has chopped his Cobalt at least three times, etc, etc, etc.
  18. Nice one TJ. That's the first one of me in my new colors.
  19. Same briefing. We (BM and Matter) will attend the same briefing each morning and be passing the same safety info onto the experienced wingsuit pilots in attendance. The bottom line here is that if you plan on flying your wingsuit at the convention, you need the "WS" annotation on your wristband. You will be able to get that from either tent. Chuck
