That's Scott Campos' rig. All three of his (including his Racer tandem) are identical.

Black and Gold meet this year..?
SkymonkeyONE replied to partyboy's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Expect to rough it. -
Are you bringing your monkey?? I am not his monkey; I am THE monkey. Katie and I will be arriving Friday evening.
-
That's funny, Nick!

I will let you cry in your beer this weekend at Palatka. You still have room for Katie and I or do I need to drag my camper down there?

We had maybe twenty kids come by last night. Some weren't even dressed in costumes! Very, very slack. I would expect that our neighborhood would be swamped since it's basically one big loop with no speeding cars and lots of kids and people walking dogs. Chuck

Crazy psycho lady on Trading Spouses this Wednesday

PJ? Do you mean "purple jesus" (the drink made from grain alcohol and fruit) or are you referring to a person? -
Crazy psycho lady on Trading Spouses this Wednesday

I have met people like that woman at the Pentecostal church my grandmother attends. There was a black woman on Cops today that acted just like that. I am pretty sure there are a couple that post in Speakers Corner as well. -
I have the shirt that Chris is wearing in that picture in my closet. We traded shirts one night at either the WFFC or one of the other boogies we ran into each other at. I killed many a braincell with Chris Martin. He was definitely my brother from another mother. BSBD

Don't go turning this thread into an open-solicitation advertisement, please people.

Should an AFFI lose their rating if they 'drop' a student?
SkymonkeyONE replied to Hooknswoop's topic in Instructors
I know several, currently-working AFF Instructors who outright suck and should have never got the rating in the first place. Thankfully, none of them work with me at Raeford Parachute Center School. One I know in particular will let go on exit almost everytime there is someone on the other side. Reason? He can't fly the exit off the plane and maintain HIS OWN stability, much less that of the student. This same person also lacks the ability stand up tandems, ever. If you don't think there are course directors that have "given away" ratings, you are sadly mistaken. You are also in the dark if you don't know that many, many uncurrent rated "instructors" (every discipline) get their ratings pencil whipped every year. Sadly, there are few places that will ground "current" rated individuals who don't measure up. Thankfully, I work at a place that will not hesitate to do so. Chuck -
Nice one, Jason! I jump my video on almost every AFF jump too. A .3 lens zoomed all the way out insures I get everything that needs to get seen, even when I am docked. I don't jump the camera to sell video; I use it as a debriefing tool. It is especially beneficial on the main side, but I jump it no matter what side I am on. We don't push outside video at all here at Raeford (for AFF), but offer it to anyone willing to pay for it. Most of our instructors do not follow my lead on this, but I got keen on doing it when I saw Chris Wagner doing it. Like Jason said, I don't do the skydive focusing on "getting the shot"; the hardware I use does that job for me. Jumping a camera for AFF (either side, any level) in no way, shape or form hinders me or causes any safety issues. edited to add that I jump my PC 109 sidemounted on an Optik Illusion Chuck AFFI (among other things)

Not at all. The "non-wingsuit" person simply exits back to the wind with mudflap grips and the wingsuiter, obviously, just poises out.

Norman gets some really sick shots with his hand-mount. he doesn't really "sight down his arm", he just points the camera where he wants and the wide angle lens guarantees the shot. I have seen him take photos from all angles.

We busted a nice seven-way birdie yesterday. Spinnach and Wade owe beer for first docks. Never mind; Spinnach bought his last night.
-
I have a couple of FireBird demos here at Raeford if you are interested in trying one.
-
Yep, that was a fun skydive. Several cases of beer owed on that dive for first docks (it was a seven-way flock). No, the tall skinny guy in the Vampire did not get away from me.

I have a "full" RDS, but generally only run it that way for meets. I DO, however, take my slider off every single jump. In that mode, I just yank it off and stick it down the front of my jumpsuit. When I jump my full RDS I always have my competition shorts or competition MX pants on; both have RDS pockets (basically just a tandem drogue pouch) sewn to the back of the right leg.

Here is the Billy Bubby. Edited to add that he had his winter coat on in this picture.

Johnny Mulford was most definitely in the Mississippi National Guard when he attended tryouts. The USAPT, like CAG (SFOD-D), accepts reserve and NG soldiers to their tryouts. If they pass then they sign active duty contracts and move to the unit. No, your branch does not have to release you. I finished tryouts in 1990 and SF branch told the USAPT to pound sand so I went back to the 7th group one disgruntled motherfucker. At least one current GK never got released from his branch and spent an entire year there as a PAD and is now going back to his unit. He is an MI soldier by the way. Chuck

I don't think a wingload restriction is the answer at all, bro. The problem here is that folks are simply strapping too much shit to their body in order to attain what they consider to be "competitive" wingloads under the much-larger canopies some favor these days.. I am just wondering how long it is before someone shows up to compete with a freefall deployed paraglider (loaded up, of course) just to set a distance record. Seem far fetched? Not to me; not the way things went this year. Personally; and I have stated this over and over; I don't think anyone competing in the CPC has any business wearing anything heavier than their standard skydiving lead. If you wear six or eight pounds to spin four-way, then that's fine. The intent is to learn competition skills in a structured environment. Chuck
